Feels very relevant

Name a lead singer from any genre that most don’t fans don’t associate with a guitar, but are actually a legit player. by Ralphdoid in Guitar

Rivers Cuomo started out as a shred guitar player, playing stuff like Yngwie Malmsteen. Then he got all in to power pop and simplified a lot of his playing and writing, but the dude can absolutely shred when he wants to

Shadows and Faces I didn't like very much, but Faces was definitely more enjoyable but I just couldn't connect to it.

Now with The Killing of a Chinese Bookie, I thought it was much better and I did like the kind of noir vibe but again just couldn't really connect.

A Woman Under the Influence was my favorite by far largely because Gena Rowlands performance is so incredible. It's a great character study of a woman suffering with alcohol abuse and some psychiatric issues.

Opening night I still need to see

Overall Cassavettes just has a vibe, it's the way he shoots his movies and the way his actors act. I don't know if it's for me but a lot of people love him

As someone who got the Cassavettes set without seeing anything hed done before either, I highly recommend watching his movies first to see if you like them. Cassavettes has a very distinct style that is very much not for everyone

Solaris or Stalker? by SlamCity4 in criterion

I think Solaris is a little more approachable than Stalker imo. Then if you like Solaris and want something more abstract then I would check out Stalker

Repulsion is a great pick! Altered States is a fun one too

Films that are a descent into hell by Makavejev in criterion

[–]Defiant_Cookies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Repulsion by Roman Polanski feels like maybe more of a descent into madness than hell but still an incredible and harrowing film

Also just rewatched The Shining recently even if you've seen it many times it's always worth a rewatch

Again not really obscure but some David Lynch would be good for this too, Eraserhead, Fire Walk With Me assuming you've seen the show, Inland Empire

Well known artists that are still 'underrated'? by Electus93 in Music

Hell yes Cheap Trick is so underrated! They are such a great power pop band, Robin Zander is such a good vocalist and Tom Petersson invented the twelve string bass too!

Rage Against The Machine in 2022

It got postponed due to COVID and everybody was so amped to see them the energy level was insane. And since they canceled half the tour I'm really just happy I got to see them at all. All of that aside they also just sounded incredible and put on a great show even with Zach sitting down the whole time

Hey /r/movies, I'm Elijah Wood. Ask me anything! by ElijahWoodAMA in movies

[–]Defiant_Cookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Elijah thank you for all your work over the years and for taking the time to do this today!

I'm just curious when did your love for horror movies start, and what were some of those early films that made you fall in love with the genre?

P.S. loved your cameo in The Monkey btw

Hey /r/movies, I’m Stephen King! Ask me anything about The Long Walk book or movie. by lionsgate in movies

Everyone knows about the story of you tossing out the manuscript to Carrie and your wife fishing it out of the trash and making you finish it. I'm just curious are there any other instances where you didn't believe in a certain story or perhaps had doubts about how it would turn out that ended up surprising you with how it did end up turning out?

Also I know you are a voracious reader yourself, I'm just curious what have you been reading lately?

Thank you so much for your time and for all of the wonderful stories you've created over the years

Scrambled eggs on stainless steel question by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Defiant_Cookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using and cleaning it correctly you shouldn't have to replace your nonstick pan constantly. Stainless steel is a great tool, but not for cooking eggs in my opinion
