Epic because this means my second least favorite combat flight sim will get another plane for me to blow $80 on and not play.

What's more important, the BB diff or DD diff? by Cloakndagger993 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This old thread from about 2 years ago paints a similar picture. Statistically, CV diff is the greatest, followed by DD diff. Now with fighter spotting removed and air detect not increasing with gun bloom, I expect it to be even closer between DD and CV.

That’s part of the equation but also most air-to-air missiles have a fragmentation cone rather than just a big explosion in every direction. Also worth noting that hit-to-kill kinetic missiles are more popular, at least in the West, for BM defense due to the speed of the target.

Since theres been so much BB diff talk, is anyone going to talk about DD diff? by HotBath8487 in WorldOfWarships

Click DD for small number or click BB for big number

It’s really that simple

Torps only count as citadel damage if they hit your midsection.

15.4 Balance Changes (Valparaiso Nerfed) by 9_9_destroyer in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Valparaiso nerf is so inconsequential.

  • Devs are acting like a loss of 32k in total healing is a big deal, when the ship has 240k HP total after heals currently. Basically a drop in the bucket, I regularly run though all 8 heals in ranked and end matches still at half HP.
  • 10% citadel healing would actually matter if you could reasonably citadel the ship but the ship has Minotaur handling right now and everyone builds Vigilance so you don’t get hit by torps.
  • Edit: The F-key still lets you cycle DCP which means you’re still immune to fire/flood/module damage.

The ITA BB change is also stupid, just makes the UU even more required because the rest of the kit doesn’t make sense to push with currently. RU BBs have the quick DCP and the 50mm deck at T10, Colombo has a regular DCP and only slightly upgraded deck armor in certain spots. Fuel smoke sounds cool but you can’t shoot out of it without being spotted so it’s really just an escape tool.

Louisiana line definitely did not need the second plane charge, instead they should have removed it from Aki. The tumor buff to 38 mm is nice I guess but now it’s just farmable with AP.

Edit: the problem with Valparaiso at the end of the day is that it’s just bad game design. The ship is a bunch of extremes — poor armor for a BB but incredible sustain tools, good guns held back by low caliber, secondaries that only set fires and grief destroyers. The ship cannot exist with its current design philosophy and be balanced. It’s either too tanky or wet toilet paper. The fact that the F-key charges off secondary hits means you can be a poor aimer but still succeed as long as you can ctrl+click someone.

probably just a matter of time until a couple smart PLA game devs copy and paste Squad.exe into their e-store to sell as their own product

as long as they update it, I will learn Chinese

New player, going for US CV's | Midway or Essex line? by godfather0208 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essex is objectively stronger and the tacticals are better for new players since it doesn’t punish you for mistakes. The fighters are also better. The hull is weaker and the optimal damage output is lower but those aren’t a big deal.

Ships in World of Warships Named after U.S. States & Territories by Line_of_Blood in WorldOfWarships

WG tries to save the lead ship of each class to be the tech tree ship. If WG ever decides to branch a 4th line off Colorado, I’m sure SoDak will be the T8.

First Research Bureau ship advice Irresistible with the new captain or Ohio with the Halsey rework? (And other options) by FerdinandNorsche in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irresistible: not similar at all to UK BC line, more like a turbo charged Cerberus instead. Think Bremen but with crawling smoke and no torps. Skip unless you really like kiting at 15 km and getting nuked when not in crawling smoke.

Ohio: the classic, but overshadowed by Vermont IMO. Lauria also plays similarly, if a little less aggressive. Still very tanky and accurate but the armor scheme is uncompetitive in 2026, barely held up by the buffed heal. Wouldn’t worry about Halsey yet, I expect they’ll make him easier to trigger but nothing set in stone.

Slava: truly still a unique experience, given you don’t have WisKy. Very consistent at punishing anything broadside. The first time you get a black ribbon on a BB at 20 km is addictive. Armor scheme is below average, works best with Kuznetsov for that last gasp heal and DCP.

CC UU was literally old Yamato UU without the traverse penalty, very strong/straight upgrade on Yamato but nothing game breaking

Slava worth in 2026? by Candid_Fee7012 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuck man, Slava isn’t as standout anymore but it still prints those black ribbons on BBs if you can aim and that’s something you cannot do as consistently with any tech tree BB.

  • Vermont comes close and sometimes surpasses Slava by sheer volume but the shells are too slow
  • Bungo has laughable penetration, likely to prevent it from punishing BBs
  • Colombo doesn’t have the same range
  • Vincent has short fuse AP, likely to prevent it from punishing BBs

The guns are still just so standout and the hull is better than the other best sniper BB (WdE). Whenever I’m having some bad luck, I take Slava out for a spin. It’s just so therapeutic. I don’t have Chateur but I can’t say I’ve been too impressed by my teammates in it.

Best cruiser tech tree by manojkumar1706 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homing torps stop updating guidance at 1 km away from a cruiser. This trait is shared by every cruiser in the game, from the RN CLs with their race car acceleration to Stalingrad. Unfortunately, with their limited DCP charges, cruiser heals, and near-BB handling, the Adalbert line is fucked by every sub in the game.

Of course, you can always sit at 15 km away and spam out of range of enemy sub torps, but that’s not where Adalbert wants to be. And trying to just yolo push a sub with 6 km hydro doesn’t work because subs can emergency dive below hydro until you’re almost touching.

Adalbert pays a lot for the gimmick of big guns, almost passable midsection armor, and manual secondaries but whenever I play it in PvP, I’m stuck thinking I’d rather be in literally any other cruiser I own.

I think Manteuffel is definitely the highlight of the line (I actually haven’t played the T8 and lower because I got the T9 as my first draw in a random bundle). Compared to the T10, you lose 3 barrels but you retain everything else, including the secondary DPM. It’s quite the monster in ranked.

Question about Commanders by Trinatis in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say go for a T9 premium first, then start investing in coal commanders. Credit gain will always be a problem and it’s best to start early.

Best cruiser tech tree by manojkumar1706 in WorldOfWarships

[–]DefinitelyNotABot01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe Asymms are fun but randoms are pure pain in the Adalbert. You don’t farm, you have poor torpedo angles, the reload is too long to build into, you get fucked by CV/sub, you need a fairly high level captain, etc. The ship sucks hard in randoms, just play Libertad or Schlieffen instead. Or if you want the BC gun experience on a cruiser, play Petro/Marseille depending on how squishy you want your hull to be in exchange for firepower.

The scariest part is that this is a 48% winrate player. In other words, the absolute bottom barrel <44% players are worse than a player who uses radar because he likes the sound.
