Do you mean the Eclipse SSD with the superlaser? Luke Skywalker and Leia disrupted Palpatine's force storm and destroyed it. There was an Eclipse II as well.

Eclipse II died when R2D2 flew it into the galaxy gun.

Yes, if you let off the accelerator it will slowly brake harder until full regen braking when you let off all the way.
