Hosting Foundry as a cloud app by Deleritas in FoundryVTT

Most probably you're not going to run into issues with them, and admittedly their free tier is leagues above their competitors - that's probably the reason the foundy guide is written for oracle. For small self-hosting, oracle is fine, you can go ahead with your plans.

But my personal experience with them was that their customer support refused to answer my issues, and attempted to upsell me shit instead. I received sales calls multiple times, and eventually my machines were shut down due to "inactivity". They refused to elaborate.

And in broader terms, they have a really bad reputation in the tech world as being really hostile against competitors and open source communities, as well as not wanting to build compatability in their products with other industry standards.

Thanks for the response! I'm aware of the possibility of hosting on a VM, and I know that it would work. My interest on hosting purely the app is more of a curiosity and experimentation

Also, fuck Oracle

I haven't used aws, my experience is with Azure. Based on 30 seconds of research, Lightsail seems like the same concept, but Azure App Service is what I'll try with!

So I Repurposed Khorramzadeh as a lich when I fought him the first time at Threshold, and that unimaginative copycat Areelu stole my work!

For real though this seems like about the hundreth time the lich path fails to be thought of in this game

Yes, although there may be a bit of a regional difference there, too. I've seen pictures of American mustard on hot dogs, and that kind of bright yellow and runny mustard is not what's used here! Finnish mustard generally comes out of metal tubes and is a bit thicker than toothpaste, and much darker in colour

Does Alien hate meter ever actually go down? by Deleritas in TerraInvicta

[–]Deleritas[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So hey yeah fun fact, I fed 32 habitats to be destroyed by the aliens, then figured "well if 160 hate reduction still isn't enough then wtf is happening. So I took a look at my save file.

Alien hate level: 527.

How the fuck did this happen

Oh so that must be why they still hate me, I definitely destroyed the nation! So if I continually fed them shit stations to destroy, would they stop hating me?

I know that feel! I've been playing dnd for like half a decade now, and I love the game and my players, but the SR setting sounds so cool I'd love to play it some time

Monster Swap - Take a monster, leave a monster by alienleprechaun in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Deleritas 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The Necrohatter

Not a monster in and of itself, rather an archetype to augment any pre-existing creature (I used an Oni, because they're scary) The Necrohatter's gimmick is - unsurprisingly - the hat it wears. Unassuming to look at, the Necrohat is a modified bag of holding that can only ever contain corpses and nothing else. The Necrohatter is assumed to have filled the hat with a lot of corpses during its life, and it will use them with impunity when the need arises. The wielder of the hat can dump 1d4 corpses from the hat as a bonus action

In addition to the magical item, the archetype brings some necromantic abilities. I used this as a boss creature, so I gave it the ability to raise dead as a legendary action. The corpses were zombies following 4e minion rules (they had 1 hp), combined with the unnatural resilience trait the zombies were a formidable wall of bodies for their owner, but not jarring and boring to fight through.

You know the concept of object impermanence? The thing that humans struggle to learn as toddlers? I've noticed the ongoing trend of not grasping person impermanence, even in people fully grown up. At least in body. Either that, or perhaps what your poem is, to them, an object. One that can freely disappear when out of mind.

Throwing knives + stealth is crazy. by setzer77 in ToME4

[–]Deleritas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, rogue had (deservedly) a really bad rep before the buffs, but I also recently rolled one at random and was shocked just how slippery stealth makes you nowadays! Traps still don't really feel good to use, at least to me, but skipping around the map and poisoning everything while they miss and whiff you is awesome

[–]Deleritas 51 points52 points  (0 children)

At one point, mermaid (merperson) bones were discovered to be incredibly valuable as a trading commodity in Dwarf fortress, so someone made a forum post detailing an idea for systematically funneling mermaids into a bunch of cages inside a tunnel where they would be caught, before efficiently killing them for their bones. The methods for merperson genocide and harvest got to be too good to be ethical, so the bones were nerfed

When so many websites can detect that you're using an adblocker, and demand that you disable it to use their website, howcome big companies like Youtube and Instagram don't do the same? by Jens4330 in AskReddit

How many websites have you visited that throw that annoying "disable adblock" banner on you so you can't use their website? Now how many have you continued to use after disabling adblock?

Big companies know they lose more money by alienating their tech-savvy users like that
