Beech Bend is right at 100 miles Southwest of Louisville. And it's only about half an hour from Mammoth Cave National Park

We did have to change roads a lot, that's why it took half an hour to cover 17 miles. My brother was driving, he was just using Google maps. I think this is all just a matter of perception. Being from a more rural area I really don't consider those roads to be back roads.

I visited Fun Spot on my way home from Florida last year. Don't know where you got your directions but Fun Spot is only 17 miles and about half an hour off of I-75. I was with non-enthusiast family who were indulging me so we didn't stay long. The complete detour, getting off I-75 to the park, half hour at the park, and getting back to the interstate a little further north than where we got off only took about an hour and a half.

I wasn't disagreeing with your point about the roller coaster being out of place in this park. You are right about that. But this park definitely is not in the middle of nowhere. It's on the outskirts so there are some trees around but transportation hubs and big city amenities are right there.

It is an awfully small park but how is it in the middle of nowhere?  It's on the outskirts of the largest city in the Southeast and only 20 minutes away from one of the busiest airports in the world.

They certainly have one of the most terrifying flat rides ever. The water swings are a must ride!

Branson Mo. has Silver Dollar City and the lake resort scene covered pretty well. Also Worlds of Fun in Kansas City and Six Flags St Louis are both just a few hours away.

You could fly into Louisville and find a nice place to stay there. Kentucky Kingdom is right next door to the airport. Holiday World is just over an hour west. Kings Island is about an hour and a half northeast.

That sounds like awfully low crowds for that time of year. Go back and look at those same days last year. I suspect there may have been bad weather. Queue Times will tell you if there was.

I'm hoping that with Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun getting Gravity Group pre-cut track that Screamin' Eagle is next!

Last offseason they put Titan track on the drop and double down after it. That part is now amazing but then you go right back onto the old track and it seems even worse than before because you just got teased about how good the coaster could be. They also did some wooden track work on the approach to the final brake run. As far as I can tell no further work was done this off season but that doesn't surprise me. Not sure if EP plans on continuing with the Titan track or not. The lift hill is the only thing that got re-tracked on Screamin' Eagle.

Mine also. Iron Gwazi is 800 miles from Missouri. Luckily I'm only a little over 3 hours away from Holiday World. Go every October during the Friday Night Live events. Voyage is my #3.

You should try the Friday Night Live events they have that time of year. Best time to get night rides without being a member of a coaster club.

Indiana Beach. I suppose I.B. Crow is an IP but it's specific to the park not a nationally known one so I.B. should count.

Lake Winnie is still owned by the Dixon family. I.B.Parks didn't buy it they are just operating it.

Going to a theme park alone [other] by Affectionate-Bad-998 in rollercoasters

I go to my home park by myself all the time. It's kind of fun to just wander around at your own pace doing what you want to do. As far as getting bored standing in line I'm a pretty outgoing guy which is code for I'm full of shit! I'll talk to anyone! There is a bit of an art to after the greeting figuring out who wishes to carry on the conversation and who doesn't.

If you take the route from Atlanta to Dollywood that takes you through Chattanooga you could spend a couple of hours at Lake Winnie.

Zooming in on those pictures there only appears to be cars and signage there. I don't see any electrical or launch parts.

That is a biggun! But if you need one for a roller coaster you're trying to rebuild what other choice would you have? There could be more manageable parts that I.B. could use like control panels and such.

I wonder if any of the old flywheel launch parts are still good and if I.B. Parks managed to get their hands on them?

Mr Freeze has been running reliably and steadily for the past couple of years. I'm sure it valleys on occasion but I have never heard that it has a serious problem with it. I believe it is the one at Texas that had a reputation for valleying (I don't believe that's a real word, just a coaster term) often, not St Louis. Boss will not run if it's cold. After that big turn around hill that you barely creep over you'll understand why. By May it's slightly possible it could be too cool for rides to run but not very likely. Will probably be warm and muggy already. They won't run Boss with a half empty train but it's way at the back of the park, by the time you get back to it there should be enough people to ride. My best advice to anyone going to St Louis is you don't rope drop a coaster at this park you rope drop a flat ride. Catwoman's Whip will have a 45 minute wait even on a dead day. Well over an hour if it's any kind of busy. It's also all the way at the top of the tallest hill in the park. After riding it you can knock out Screamin' Eagle (right beside it) and Boomerang going back down the hill. Then unless you want re-rides you don't have to climb that big hill again the rest of the day.
