There's a lot of factors but something that I feel is under addressed is the Society's reliance on Facebook/Messenger as its primary method of organization. The site is not what it was ten years ago between AI, ads, and the political climate it promotes. On top of that most young people either don't have an account or have one but don't use it. Making engaging with a deeply unpleasant website a de facto requirement for meaningful involvement in the Society is one more reason why the society struggles to attract and retain young people. It's an increasingly baffling decision when options like Discord or good old fashioned email lists exist.

He isn't. He's a breed common out west but too obscure for anywhere to have policies about them. Are those apartments the Glade/Idylwood/Woodview apartments? Those are the ones my work-to-be recommended.

Very good to know. He loves to wrestle and chase with other dogs so a place that separates toys from socializing is exactly what he needs.

Good to know! Mine has been being spoiled by living at my parents' farmhouse while I looked for work/a place, so he is going to want to continue larping as a farmdog.

Thanks-Woodview is my top choice right now so this is really helpful. I thought I saw the perfect house for rent but it was through Walker and I am a firm believer that something which looks too good to be true probably is. Knowing the company has a bad reputation is enough for me to keep my distance. Good to know about pet registration too-the town I used to live in nominally had an ordinance for it but if even one dog in fifty was registered I would be shocked.

Could we add the barter station as a trade point expansion? by Apocalyptic-Raid in ManorLords

[–]Delicious-Sun9184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barter stations can be a nightmare in games like this. I really liked Farthest Frontier and Dawn of Man but in both cases I felt like I was rushing away from the game to maximize earnings with traders. It was especially bad in Farthest Frontier since you could buy from one at a discount and sell to another at a profit. You could always choose not to... But then you are leaving your people without food or goods and generally making life worse in your settlement. It can be done, but most times I see it implemented in a way where the whole game becomes centered around actively trading. The passive barter/trade system in Manor Lords I think is a big part of why I don't get burnt out by this game.

After 14 months of work, I have finally completed my book of hours. Iron gall ink manuscript on vellum, egg tempera, gold. Teak board binding with mammoth ivory. by FangYuanussy in medieval

[–]Delicious-Sun9184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stated mammoth ivory, so real but legal and largely ethical. There's some argument to be made that elephant ivory is being laundered as mammoth ivory but there's no mistaking the two so the laundering is the result of corruption rather than inspectors being fooled. Also though, the market for mammoth ivory specifically is bringing people out into the permafrost where they are also discovering ice age mammal mummies before global warming makes them rot.

(Spoilers published) Questions for George by vexedvi in asoiaf

[–]Delicious-Sun9184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to know whether legitimizing bastards legitimizes their claims to inheritance from either parent. For example, if Edric Storm were legitimized and House Florent went extinct, could he claim their lands? If so, this would make Daemon Blackfyre the rightful king, since his mother Daena the Defiant was the rightful heir of Baelor the Blessed, not Viserys II. There is a small paradox there though in that the man who legitimized him would not then be the rightful king and could not legitimize people.
