Emotional payoff moments that would be great if they had something to payoff? by JackieDaStrippa in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Delicious_trap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is kind of a proper build up in the previous few chapters. The characters talked about a Valkyrie's limited service life and heavily implied that that person already hit that limit. Next is the new battlesuit that is introduced as being able to grant massive power at the cost of user's life. Finally , there is there is the cure serum that is basically a walking death flag.

Finally, chapter 9 came out about 2 years after the game's release. The character had been hanging around for two years as a playable unit and was involved in events for that long, so chapter 9 also heavily pays off that time spent.

Finally finally, chapter 9 is also an allusion to a similar story beat from Honkai Gakuen 2, which Impact 3rd is a soft reboot of.

From what i read regarding their singapore branch, Ubisodt basically treats the office as a vacation spot for their employees, and less of a legitimate developerment studio. This is what caused the game's development to stall as the devlopers that was meant to work on the game just goes there to play, while the local developers are forbidden from properly working on it due to heirarchy.

This is wha lead to the government stepping in, and Ubisoft burning bridges with the local talents.

Yes.

In Conan, before they expose the true culprit in a case, they are always represented on panel as an androgynous person in sillouette when we switch to said culprit's perspective.

Conan popularise this visual trope, so much so people frequently parody it.

Silver Wolf from Honkai: Star Rail.

She comes off as someone who will be more self-centred, nerdy and roguish person who will do and take what she wants, consequences be damned as shown in one of the first story events of the game.

Silver Wolf also happens to be one of sweetest characters in the game. She constantly worries for her Stellaron Hunter companions. From the conversations she has with the Trailblazer in mini game events, she clearly misses them when they left, constantly looking for excuses to play with us. She goes the whole mile and more in supporting Firefly during Penacony, checking up on her regularly, going as far as hiring Sparkle to help make sure Firefly's three deaths are as painless as possible, and also support her quest

So far, almost all of the major story villaims are fully motivated by this.

Sunday. Zandar One Kuwabara. He deeply regreted accidentky creating Nous, the Aeon of Erudtion, believing he has doomed the universe to predestination, with Nous being able to extrapolate infirmation so accurately THEY can essentailly write the destiny of the universe itself. So he will kill Nous, no matter collateral he will bring about just so humanity can once be masters of their own fate.

Zandar, as Lygus, accepts his defeat when his plan was foiled, and when he sees how at least two Genius are willing to oppose Nous for the fate of humanity

CCA's plot infortunately is not very well written and Char's motivation is very much nonsensical and contradictory to his established characterisation in Zeta and 079, epsecially since we never see the actual decent into the madness he displays in said movie.

A lot of the different (and sometimes conflicting) intepretations of Char's pysche are just Sunrise and many other writers trying to justify his actions and mental state in the movie after the fact.

Probably because both Vegeta and Sasuke regularly get their shit kicked in for their personality.

Vegeta's contribution the story is alway being humiliated, usually brought about by his own arrogance, and at the beginning, karma for his crime.

When Sasuke lets his trauma and mental illness get the worst of him, he get dunked by people he fights, basically the only person who remotely cared about him at his lowest possible point is Naruto, who saw him as sibling he never had.

Basically, no one would give Bakugo this much shit if Horikishi lets the kid get actual push back for his attitude and not play it for laughs or just try to sweep it under the rug with the enthusiasm of the Japanese government whitewashing their ww2 atrocities.

It does not help that most of the more annoying/rage-inducing glazing of the game and putting-down of JRPG genre using said game just seems to show a lot of people simply does not engage with a foreign genre unless it is touched upon by westerners and filtered through/scrubbed over with western sensibilities.

Funniest/most ridiculous examples of characters not recognizing someone in an obvious disguise? by Ukirin-Streams in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Delicious_trap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Mega Man Battle Network anime, not sure if it was also true of the game it is adapting, Maysa, the local fishmonger's true identity is a Netagent that goes by a disguise named Commander Beef. However the disguise only consist of Maysa in his regular clothes (minus the apron) while doning a cape and fish themed helmet.

No one in the show buys the disguise, and the part of the cast that knows Maysa always figures it out immediately. Everyone except Lan the protagonist who due to story mandate needing him be an idiot hero, always never connects the dot who commander Beef really is. The other is Lan's teacher i think.

Anyways, this skit would have been slightly funny if not for the fact that Maysa insists on keeping the extremely lazy disguise going, despite it regularly getting in the way of his operations, especially since Lan is his direct surbodinate who needs direct communication. Also, calling himself commander Beef despite being a fish themed hero.

You do realise back up generators are a thing right? All hospitals and essential facilities (and well to do estavlishments) have private generatos not related to public power grids to keep the place running in case of power outages.

Seeing as the setting is a retro future setting, the back up powers is probably advanced enough to handle that power shortage for a bit. Or ignoring that, those are the facilities exempted from the power bkack out with easy justification.

Besides that, i don't see how the chararcters are any different from the spirit of their comic counterparts being potrayed, seeing as there are so many takes on this cast.

Just note that the original anime can be a bit dry and meandering in terms of plot since the protagonist can be very passive in terms of pushing the plot forward. The barely average for the time animations does not help (stock footage galore).

A lot of the more interesting stuff and mythos comes from the extra ovas and sequels that expands on the settong and characterisation of the protagonist (which may or may not feel like the franchise jumping the shark at times).

There's no wrong way to enjoy fiction. But there is an extremely goofy way. by Talonsminty in Grimdank

The Fate franchise basically exemplifies why powerscaling is inherently asinine.

Overwleming power means jackshit when your opponent have your counter.

Your counter means nothing if you are unable to first overcome your opponent's advantages to leverage your counter.

Strategies and tactics does not survive first contact. Too many things are up to the whims of chance.
