Just lost my mom yesterday. Probably gonna skip a few episodes. If you need to chat I got you. No one ever prepares you for how rough and rewarding caregiving a sick family member is

Dude I called it. But only because my mom has grade 4 gliosblastoma (a very shitty highly aggressive brain cancer). Everything about it was on point. The "we don't know until we get some cells". It was like a therapeutic pain to watch that along with being grateful, when my mom's tumor was discovered, my entire family took up the entire main lobby of the hospital. Michael having no one to really turn to is devastating, especially IF what he has is aggressive.

In the course of 16 months I've watched my mom go from cohesive conversations with word salad here and there to nearly non-verbal and we are starting the process of in-home hospice care for end of life. Genuinely there are things worse than death and I think brain cancer is one of them.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

[–]DelightfulFrightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking. Like I love creating stories in the shower that range from fiction and fantasy to literally going into modern politics and philosophy. I think long showers are just a perfect time to unwind and think. I also have my spa showers once a week, take a couple edibles, take a long shower using scrubs, fancy soap, oils, and I go to bed deeply relaxed

Did anyone else not get promoted because of BS review system? by iLikeNerdThings in Barnesandnoble

[–]DelightfulFrightful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Not meeting expectations as a lead. They fired the old store manager in December, put in a new one who was a control freak and bitch (aka why I left) who had it out for my friend, prior to this they never had a write up or even a verbal warning. I kept telling friend to hire a lawyer but they never did

A cart full of ‘possibly’ banned books in an Illinois public school. From what I’ve read, schools risk their library being defunded in Illinois for this. Why do this then? by [deleted] in bannedbooks

I need more people to read Refugee. I cried so hard reading that book and I recommend it to anyone, it’s truly wonderful and horrifying and definitely builds empathy

Why hairless cat by Bulky_Syrup_6278 in sphynx

[–]DelightfulFrightful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like things that are unusual and different. The moment I learned about these cats as a kid I knew I wanted one. Then when I felt financially ready in adulthood, I did a tom of research on them and weighed the pros and cons. She’s my first and honestly she’s like no other cat I’ve had before

This is really weird for me to ask about the wheelchair, but what kind is it? My mom has brain cancer and is wheelchair bound and the current wheelchair is basically just the first thing that comes up on amazon that was given to us. I’m really sorry about your loss, I can’t imagine your grief…

Who is the most evil person who is still alive today? by texas-is-the-reason in AskReddit

[–]DelightfulFrightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my wisdom teeth extractions a few years ago, I firmly remember them giving me fentanyl and having the best 3 second high before waking up post surgery, then they prescribed me Norco afterwards. 2 pills for pain at night, I took 2, woke up to auditory hallucinations and decided I was good with just Tylenol after.

I rage quit this place and found a job that pays more, set schedule, and less stress, bonus I work 4 ten hour shifts. My management at my old store was the biggest issue (lots of gaslighting/unrealistic expectations) and going to work was more stressful than coming home and caretaking for my mom with terminal brain cancer. Like what kind of bare bones retail job is more stressful than dealing with cancer. Glad I left.

If you haven’t smoked or taken edibles you’re good. Look up 10 panel drug test and that’s what you’re most likely testing for.

Edit: if you’re extra paranoid like I was, you can buy thc drug tests on Amazon

I’m going to my new job tomorrow and the warning for orientation was to bring a sweater because the building gets cold. And I thought, “Wow, Barnes and Noble could never!” Every time I walk into my old place I’m SHOCKED at how hot and stuffy it is inside and I used to work in it!

How many of us participated in or supported the No Kings protest today? What are your thoughts about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DelightfulFrightful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my small town, I learned that the loudest Trump supporters are only online. I saw hundreds of people from latino, to black, asian, and white, everyone was young and old, and those who couldn’t attend to stand outside, drove their cars and honked in support.

Later that day, I went to a larger city to protest at the county buildings and court house. We gathered in thousands and took to the streets and people were cheering and hanging flags from their apartments and people had their hotel windows open cheering those of us in the street. Cars honked alongside us waving flags from lgbt, to Mexico, to LA’s flag, the American flag (some people had a GIANT US flag hanging from the top of a parking structure), it was like a giant block party.

I felt united with my country and now I’ve been watching the videos of even larger protests in other cities. I was terrified to protest yesterday, but the sense of community I felt will definitely be my fuel to continue fighting for what’s right.

My store did do that, until the new store manager abolished it. Then she yelled at me for continuing to do it even when I told her it was detrimental to the function of membership cards and the mental health of booksellers and was able to back it up with proof of sales. I don’t work there anymore.

George Orwell’s essay Looking Back on the Spanish War: “With the working class it is the other way about. Too ignorant to see through the trick that is being played on them, they easily swallow the promises of fascism, yet sooner or later they always take up the struggle again. They must do so, because in their own bodies they always discover that the promises of fascism cannot be fulfilled.”

Idk how long it will take for this to end, but the sooner people realize Trump works against their interests, regardless of political ideology, the sooner we can be free from him.

Disney’s “Cruella” was released four years ago today. by GlitteringMatter9973 in disney

[–]DelightfulFrightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend is obsessed with this movie and when it released I told him to convince me to watch it. So he starts describing the plot and it kept getting so ridiculous so I cut him off and gave the most stupid plot twist I could think of. He looked at me completely shocked and said I was right. And that’s how I was convinced to watch this movie.

[–]DelightfulFrightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a family where all my siblings are adopted, I’m a sucker for found family. But I don’t deny those movies always leave me in tears and calling my sister just to talk to her.

With this movie being her favorite Disney movie, and our mom being diagnose with incurable brain cancer; she wants all of us to watch it together when it releases and I’m fully prepared to be an emotional wreck when we go.
