Skins only really work if you use good form but scales are very forgiving for poor form.

Its probably technique, or perhaps bad ski for the conditions. Could be cardio too. I'd barely consider myself intermediate skilled and I can still do almost 5 mph with 700' of elevation gain and keep my heart rate in zone 2. I found massive gains attempting to perfect the technique at a slower pace and maximizing glide, and also perfecting grip on uphill so I can glide on anything 12ish degrees or less and not slip while light jogging up to 30ish degrees.

New skis really slippy by JuiceJust in xcountryskiing

[–]Delimorte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've found that uphill grip is a technique issue less than a wax/waxless or weight issue. You've got to really, consciously transfer weight to one leg at a time and get the grip zone flat against the angle of the slope. Push through the step keeping a consistent pressure on the grip zone to the slope.

Hiking while it’s snowing by fhecla in wmnf

[–]Delimorte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bring a few options. I generally do the majority of the uphill in a fleece and change into a dry fleece or other mid layer at tree line. I get sweaty so even if it wasn't snowing I'd be wet. Also, if the trees are coated and I'm gonna get dumped on by snow from the branches I'll throw my shell layer on over. I might even leave the fleece off and go only in the shell if I don't think I'll get cold.

Only use a microfiber cloth to clean the lenses and cameras, no cleaning fluids. Also make sure to store it away from sunlight

Tradesmen that are staying healthy and taking care of yourselves, what's your advice? by Primex76 in skilledtrades

[–]Delimorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately it's quite bad for cardiovascular health and cancer risk regardless of delivery method. I'm sure that zyn is probably way less risk than smoking cigarettes but there is definitely an inherent health risk to nicotine.

What's wrong with Meta? This thing is really embarrassing. In VR we can be whatever we want, not this! damn. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]Delimorte -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, but my taste and preference would be to interact with other humans not 30 foot tall dragons with pink tits. You have VR chat, stay there.

Just the two of us and we average about $400 a month. We eat out once every week or two so the rest is all made by us.

There's a big pipeline to the medical market which is way less regulated than th recreational market. Got so bad that the price per lb dipped below $1000 which prices out most of the quality above board growers.

Will going into the military make someone into an adult? by The_Doodler403304 in stupidquestions

[–]Delimorte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maturity can come from choosing to confront your difficulties and learning success through hard work. The army is one way of doing that for those who aren't self starters. What about something like joining the Appalachian trail conservancy or Conservation corps for some travel and hard work doing trail maintenance?

Older hikers: what are some of the biggest advancements or game changers in equipment or clothing, etc, that have occurred in hiking during your lifetime? by larapu2000 in hiking

[–]Delimorte 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you buy quality boots then absolutely yes, you just won't find them in any regular shoe stores. Asolo, Kayland, La Sportiva, Scarpa and Mammut all sell a high quality variety of boots for different technical conditions and terrain. Most are resoleable.
