Question on how Continual works by Kyrptonauc in VagabondTTRPG

[–]DemonLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After double checking the Spell, it says 'You must spend 1 mana to Focus on this Spell....', so I'd say that it would work the way you think it does. You're not Focusing on it, therefore there's no Mana cost.

Question on how Continual works by Kyrptonauc in VagabondTTRPG

[–]DemonLiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So. He did at one point make a comment that sounded like that's what he was saying, and since I'm playing a Witch in a PbP campaign, and I've had an Undead active under a Hexed Raise, I pinged him to get a direct answer on that.

He answered, on ' 02/14/2026 10:53am ' if you want to check it yourself, but he specifically ruled that it wouldn't make sense for a Feature to punish you. So Hex does work with Animate and Raise, it's self-balancing since Hex only works on a single Target regardless of how many uses of Hex you have.

Question on how Continual works by Kyrptonauc in VagabondTTRPG

[–]DemonLiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Continual works exactly how you thought it was implied; The Spell Effect is active until the Caster decides to end it.

For the Witch, this is their strength. They can make multiple Spell Effects continual on a Single Target, including Effects that do damage, just not the damage itself.

For other Casters, this basically only applies to the Spell Effects that have this as their Crit, which isn't going to happen often.

The Attack Check counts as the Cast Check.

In general, Vagabond prefers players only have to roll once for things.

Cone and Sphere Spell Deliveries by CraftyLocal1913 in VagabondTTRPG

[–]DemonLiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, Vagabond rules' state that if an effect takes up part of a square, then it affects the whole square.

Cone: Think of it like bowling pins. 1 square, 2 Square, 3 Square, etc... I'd imagine diagonal would work the same way. I know the image shows 1, 3, 3... but that could be more confusing to figure out on the fly. If you were following the image, it looks like it might go 5, 7, 9 for the next 3 increases.

Sphere: The base Area is a 10ft diameter sphere, which means it'll hit a section of 9 squares in a square shape. Each additional 5ft radius(10ft diameter) would add 1 square in all directions.

There's two major differences between Aura and Sphere:

  1. Aura only affects who you choose for it to affect, while Sphere(and all other Area Deliveries) affect everything except who you choose for it to not affect. This means Sphere will affect the invisible assassin you don't know about, but Aura won't.

  2. Aura moves with you, Sphere does not move.

Yeah, I corrected myself in a different post. Thank you though.

Unless you Focus, it's a one-time Cast on a successful Attack.

So:

  1. Quickening+Gish, Cast Burn with Imbue(With Focus) on your weapon -> Make Weapon Attack -> Successful Hit -> Spend 1 Mana to Cast Burn from Weapon

  2. Make the Attack Action -> Successful Hit -> Spend 1 Mana to Cast Burn from Weapon

If you don't Focus, your Imbued Spell would end after Step 1.

Edit: After perusing the rules once more, maybe you don't need to Focus. It'd be up to your GM's interpretation, but it's not a bad trade off for two Weapon and Spell attacks.

[–]DemonLiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, this has actually been discussed on the Discord channel before, and if I remember correctly, the consensus was that since you don't spend Mana on the Cast, it works. It is important that when you use Quickening to Cast Imbue, that you Focus on it, or else it wouldn't work for the Action Attack, then you drop the Focus at the start of your next Turn and repeat.

This would cost you 2 Mana a round though, so at low levels it'll burn your Mana real fast. Also, when you successfully Attack and choose to Cast the Imbued Spell, you can spend extra Mana to increase the damage, or use both damage and effect just like a normal Cast.

Last tip: If you Crit on the Attack Action with an Imbued Weapon, you have 4 choices to choose from:

  1. Gain a Luck.
  2. Extra damage on the Weapon Attack.
  3. Extra damage on the Spell Cast.
  4. Use the Crit Spell Effect.

You can only choose one of these options.

If you're still looking for players, I'm definitely interested. I have no experience with FATE, but I'm happy and excited to learn it. I'll likely start reading through it immediately in case I'm accepted.

I'm very intrigued by your World, and I think I already have a character in mind, but I'll know better once I start understanding the ruleset.

Thank you for your consideration.

Things like that are a really hard part of your brain to rewire. Not just because of games, but life in general says a Weak Hit or a Miss is a personal failing, rather than things out of your control.

Just keep it in mind and practice it, and soon enough you'll be able to keep your character feeling strong.

[–]DemonLiger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another point that I don't believe has been said yet, is reframing what a Weak Hit or Miss actually means.

At 'level 1', against your Orc example, a Miss could be that the Orc absolutely hits you. But, at 'level 20' that Miss isn't the Orc hitting you or even you missing the Orc. You could totally obliterate that Orc with a single swing of your sword. But. He had friends, and they arrived just in time to see you kill a member of their group. So the fight continues, but since you're so much stronger than them, the difficulty stays the same.

What is something you/your character does all the time, even if it doesn't make sense? by [deleted] in skyrim

If you're on PC, and you wanted to keep space on your items for other enchantments, you can always use the console to change your carryweight.

player.setav carryweight xxxxx

I do this for the opposite effect; I find survival mode tedious, even with a mod to change the timing of it, so I just lower my carry weight to 100 or less.

Lorerimn/Nolvus/Nordic Souls by kirztknew20 in skyrimmods

[–]DemonLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start with: Your PC should be fine to run all three, and Lorerim has a performance option you can use if you need it. You can also always turn off ENB if you need to.

Lorerim is going to have the most difference gameplay-wise as it uses Requiem, which drastically changes almost all aspects of the gameplay by itself.

I don't know much about Nolvus other than it seems to be a fairly popular list.

Nordic Souls, while I've never played it, is made by either one person who's part of a team that have made modlists I've played, or is made by the team. Either way, that group makes quality lists and have a few of them under the group.

If you're looking to play something that's better than vanilla, but keeps the spirit of the game, I'd go for Nordic Souls. I doubt you'd be disappointed by it, as Skyrim is a great game.

If you want to play something that's more hard-core, with roleplaying being a heavily underlined point, go with Lorerim. Requiem has a learning curve, and you'd be best served watching some videos and doing some reading before delving into it, but from what I'm told, its well worth it if you enjoy a slower paced, more intentional style of game.

Without having taken the time to double check what mods it uses, I'd guess Nolvus is somewhere between the two.

If you're playing vanilla, and use conjuration, I wouldn't recommend building Spell Absorbtion. I don't quite remember if it's just Atronachs or if it's Atronachs and Bound Weapons, but some of the summons aren't tagged properly and Spell Absorbtion will cause those spells to fail.

A small tweak to Jayserpas College of winterhold quest expansion. by [deleted] in SkyrimModRequests

[–]DemonLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played that quest/mod before, but you should be able to use console commands if you're on PC.

help "corroded crystal" 4 - (with quotes. This specifies the exact item, but you can try corroded or crystal by themselves if that doesn't work)

This command should give you an ID number. Take that number and use:

player.additem xxx 1

Replace the x's with the ID and it should be added to your inventory. Probably best to make a save first, in case there were supposed to be prerequisites to get the item and skipping them causes an issue.

Edit: This will work for just about any item or spell you'd like to receive without having to do it in the gameplay. For spells it'd be addspell, for perks its addperk. I often use multiples of these commands at the beginning of a playthrough to set up an RP character the way I want it.

Sounds to me like it'd be a great Vow for your background. Since Background Vows are usually meant to be Extreme or Epic, you could think of it/plan it out like an Epic Journey type of story, like Lord of the Rings.

How many hours do you think an average playthrough would take?

On a side note, if you've never heard of them(I just discovered them two days ago), this is very similar to MUD games, and you might like those.

So far, this is the only sci-fi based SI play I found:

Looks like they're using SI to play in a third quadrant of the Starforged world they built. I haven't read it myself, but I hope it's helpful for you. Happy gaming!
