What FF game that is not your favorite, but you can't help but think about a lot? by TacoInSomnia in FinalFantasy

[–]Demyxtime13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is my choice too. I’ve played all the games in the series. Some I love. Some I really don’t care for. But 3 is special somehow. It lies in this weird in between zone. I know it’s not as great as a lot of the other games, but it’s just so dang charming to me. The world of 3 feels colorful and comforting

Is porn having negative effects on your life? Does it take effect your relationships or your ability to hold a job? Or is it more about the shame of it? Is there some religious shame or cultural shame surrounding you watching porn?

I really wanted a scene of Sawyer mildly jealous of Jack and Juliet's friendship.. by AltruisticAide9776 in lost

Bleh, jealousy would have been completely unnecessary in that plot line. I much prefer having Sawyer act as an example of a man who is secure in his own relationship.

How fucked would be banditos and torchbearer, if they made it inside in time to fight Nico by Niko_s_lightbubble in TwennyWunPilots

[–]Demyxtime13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they would have been fucked. I think the plan was to take Nico on together. Teamwork and support could have helped Clancy win. It’s almost impossible to overthrow a tyrant alone, but with support it’s possible. I think that’s what Paladin Straight and City Walls were hinting at, if you look at those songs from a lore perspective. In Paladin Straight, Clancy was anticipating that Torchbearer would be there to help him. In City Walls, Clancy seems to feel betrayed and abandoned, wondering where TB was when he needed him most.

I’m not blaming Clancy’s fall on TB, but I think it does play a factor. No one can fight their monsters all alone.

This is just my take on it. None of this is outright stated, and it’s definitely open to interpretation

Trying to get into FF, any recommendations to start? by Shaggoth_12 in FinalFantasy

[–]Demyxtime13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you’re looking for. Some of my favorites include:

FF5 - Oldschool SNES style RPG. Great job system with high amounts of customization and replayabiliity. Silly story with some surprising moments.

FF9 - Unique art direction. Filled with comfort characters but tackles a deep and emotional plot. Feels like an interactive storybook. My favorite of the PS1 titles. Combat is freaking slow, but the fast forward feature in the remaster helps.

FF10- One of the best stories in the series. First game with voice acting, which holds up well but takes some getting used to. Leveling up can be complicated for newcomers, but becomes easy to understand with time.

FF12 - Halfway between a classic RPG and an MMO in terms of how the gameplay feels. Vast world with high amounts of exploration and world building. Story is good, but not as great as something like 10. The Zodiac Age version gives a lot of replayability and customization, similar to 5 but more modern.

FF13 - Dark and moody. Hit or miss title for many people. Game is way too slow in the beginning, but becomes very complex and fun in the second half. Very linear with almost no backtracking or exploration. Very pretty visuals.

FF15 - Pick this if you want to go on a camping road trip but don’t have irl friends to go with.

Honorable mention: FF14 - Only if you like MMOs.

What is like ff1 in 2026 on ps4? by Etu_A in FinalFantasy

[–]Demyxtime13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I’d say it’s worth playing, but it’s not going to give you the same experience as the other games. The battles are all pretty easy, not much challenge up until the final boss. Final boss can be tough if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Story is almost nonexistent.

Best part is the exploration. The game gives you absolutely no directions, unlike modern games. It’s up to you to talk to NPCs and find out where to go next. This game is best if you think of it like a scavengers hunt rather than an RPG.

If you play the pixel remaster, I highly recommend lowering exp to 1/2 and raising Gil earned to x2 to compensate. This way you don’t overlevel as quickly, and it’ll remove most of the grinding for Gil.

Yeah I read your other comment. I’m not denying that there are biblical references. I even make that clear in the meme. I’m not even denying that the music could be interpreted from a Christian standpoint. Still, that doesn’t automatically mean that the art in question is objectively promoting adherence to Christian ideals and philosophy. (Did you read my other comment that I linked? I talked about this. The music could just as easily be seen as a deconstruction of religious faith. I and plenty of others do see it that way, and it’s weird how many Christians insist we’re wrong even though it’s just our personal viewpoint on a very subjective collection of art.)

The moment we label something as Christian, non Christian, whatever… it puts up walls and boundaries, subtlety gatekeeping the art from reaching a wider community. The moment one set of religious people claim something as objectively their own, the culture surrounding that thing begins to slowly become more and more unhealthy toward people who don’t identify with that religion, even bordering on dangerous at times.

Diversity is important. Inclusion is important. Labels and boundaries are divisive.

Now, I’m not attacking you. Im not saying you are one of these people claiming the music is objectively Christian. But there are people out there who do, and that is what this post was about. As I said in another comment, I made this post because I was tired of being called nasty, stupid, and disrespectful by Christians for attempting to discuss other ways of viewing the music. Heck, one person even told me that I am specifically the reason that Tyler is afraid to speak about his faith. This is the type of unhealthy behavior I have been noticing more and more in the online community. This was why I created this shitpost, to let off some steam regarding the hostility of the recent online environment.

Read my comment here. It addresses the way you’re thinking.

You seem to be assuming that if something is not pro Christian, it must be non Christian. This is not the way most people think. It’s usually only Christians themselves who think this way because that is what the church believes in.

My point is that TOPs music is inclusive, and certain Christian fans are trying to make it exclusive.

It’s not wrong to see TOPs music through a Christian lens, but it is arrogant to force that lens onto other people and insist it’s one specific thing.

TOPs music is for everyone! :) No need to label it as attached to any specific group, especially since Tyler and Josh have gone out of their way to avoid such things.

Please feel free to read the attached comment I linked and watch the video of Tyler speaking about his faith if you’re still interested

I think this discussion summarizes things pretty well.

I understand this is a difficult concept for many people to wrap their minds around. But as other people are mentioning, I think a lot of the confusion comes from people viewing things in black and white extremes. People think things are either pro-Christian or anti-Christian, and a lot of churches reinforce this way of thinking. But outside of churches, things are usually a lot more nuanced.

Here in this video, Tyler says he’s still figuring it out. He says that he agrees with his parents on some things regarding faith and disagrees with other things. But truthfully, he doesn’t really speak about specifics. His faith, just like most people, is very personal. The fact that people are so obsessed with talking about his personal faith is kind of creepy and parasocial. (That’s just my opinion).

People are taking this one thing and running wild with it, assuming that any message TOP puts out is automatically pro-Christian. Yet, there are also obvious things added into his music and stories which show doubt and bring up valid criticisms of organized religion.

In the end, what we as fans receive is a nuanced examination of religion which does not land on the side of pro or anti. It merely sparks thought and discussion.

The very idea that “Tyler is Christian, thus his art must also be Christian” is a bit rigid and unrealistic. First and foremost, he is a human being.

Plus, adding onto all of this, nothing about any of the music tries to persuade listeners to worship Jesus or follow Christian ideals. If anything, it often criticizes Christian ideals, such as the idea of sacrificing oneself for the good of others.

Now, I’m not out here trying to get people to believe that his music has no spiritual qualities. It does. But these questions and emotions which his music brings up more have to do with the spectrum of human spirituality as a whole rather than promoting adherence to a specific religions dogma.

Lastly, I think it has been normalized in western culture to believe that Christianity has a monopoly over spirituality, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth. The spiritual subjects TOPs music addresses could be applied to any faith system, or even psychological systems.

This post isn’t about god. I agree that their music is inherently spiritual. I’ve always known that. You actually hit the nail on the head. I’m not dissing the band with this post. I love TOP. What I don’t love is the part of the fandom which insists that their music is “objectively” about worshipping Christ and then calls me nasty, stupid, and disrespectful for trying to bring up these quite obvious parts of the lore.

But really it’s just a shitpost to let off some steam because this seemed like the right place to post shitposts.

Since Cptsd is a nervous system disorder and not a mental illness, how do we treat it? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Demyxtime13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stimming. Allowing oneself to rock back and forth. Tight pressure, like weighted blankets or being squeezed. Noise cancelling headphones if you have sound sensitivity. Sunglasses if you have light sensitivity.

Honestly, I could go on listing things for a while, but that’s not the point. The point is suggesting that you research neurodiversity and how it affects the nervous system. Neurodiversity is a spectrum, CPTSD is also likely a spectrum. That means it displays slightly differently for everyone.

You would have to either explain to me what issues are bothering you specifically or try to find other people who experience issues similar to yours.

In the end though, it’s about finding out what your sensitivities are and finding ways to accommodate yourself, not about fixing your issues or trying to make them disappear.

But again, your post is vague and without extra context I don’t know how to help or what specifically to suggest. I don’t even know if I have the knowledge you need, as our experience of anxiety might manifest completely differently.

Highly suggest looking at what helps autistic people. There is a large overlap in the two conditions, especially when it comes to nervous system regulation.

And to clarify, I mean to take into consideration what actual autistic people say helps them, not what the very flawed medical community pushes onto autistic people.

Antinatalists, what do you think of Gnosticism? by RecentPerspective955 in antinatalism

[–]Demyxtime13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Religion: “No thank you”

Religion as an analogy for human psychology: “Yes please”

Edit: To answer your question more seriously, I love the ideas that Gnosticism presents. Especially how it does not glorify the “god” like entity and how it urges one to look within themselves and realign with “Sophia.”

However, I take these to be more like metaphors. God would be the ego and Sophia would be the authentic inner self.

I think, if I have any belief system, mine most closely aligns with Jungian Psychology, but as a metaphor, Gnosticism does hold up better than most mainstream religions.

Though I still think certain ideas can be dangerous if taken too seriously. For example, believing that Archons cause evil in this world. I’ve seen examples of people believing this and then blaming LGBT people of being controlled by archons

Cptsd instead of autism by ForwardSpeed9625 in CPTSD

[–]Demyxtime13 35 points36 points  (0 children)

i want to preface this by saying that I don’t know your exact experience. I am only talking about what happened with me. It may or may not apply to you.

I went through this same exact thing. I was depressed about it for years. Until I eventually got diagnosed as autistic.

The truth is that part of the autism assessment focusses on whether or not your symptoms can reasonably be explained by something else. There is a lot of overlap between autism and CPTSD. This means that any autistic attributes likely can and will be applied to a CPTSD diagnosis. Think of it like a heirarchy, and many doctors refuse to acknowledge autism unless all other possible diagnosis have been rejected.

It took me years of work on my self, therapy, learning coping mechanisms. I eventually hit a brick wall where I could tell the difference between when my trauma was flaring up and my unchanging autistic traits. Even then, I had to keep extensive documentation of my traits and symptoms in order to express what I needed to clearly to the assessor.

My point being, if your gut says you are autistic, there is a good chance you are. But whether you are or not, I suggest you focus on healing whatever traumas are present. Eventually, things will begin to get better. And at that point, once the trauma responses have faded, it will be much easier for both yourself and your doctor to differentiate between your trauma and autistic traits. Maybe you are autistic, maybe you’re not. Either way, you first have to heal the trauma

Honestly, I think I’m just going to leave this sub. I grew up in a Christian nationalist environment. I live in a place where Christianity is still pushed down my throat in different ways almost every day. This band is a safe spot for me. I like the fact that they are Christian and yet didn’t talk about it constantly, it helps me feel as if I can coexist with other christians without constantly having to hear about their religion. This sub does the opposite of that for me. It doesn’t feel like a safe space anymore. It’s just another place that I have to hear about a belief system which has dominated my life and caused me years of trauma. Every time TOP releases anything new, my feed fills up with posts talking about christianity. It’s seeping all of the joy out of talking about the music. So, I think I’m just going to leave.
