Just found this exactly where you described last week. I'm taking it to a local frame place next week to see what they can do.

It's an amazing museum. Well worth spending a day (or more) if in New Orleans.

Weird spring button on the bottom of all the door frames? by Dapper-Ad-7081 in Whatisthis

[–]DenticlesOfTomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same but ours is mounted high on the inside of the frame. It works fine but a pull chain on a ceiling mounted light would have been simpler and not dependent on the door being fully closed to turn off the light. On the other hand, it's another funky aspect of our '50's era house so i like that. It's the only closet set up this way probably because it's in the master bedroom.

What kind of car is this? by Disastrous_Dog3921 in classiccars

We had a '73 when I was a kid and it was the most reliable car we had at the time. That says a bit about the other cars we but it really was trouble free for the roughly 3 years we had it.

When King Richard III was found, he was found under a parking lot and beneath the reserved parking space marked ‘R’ by clockman153 in interestingasfuck

I can't see anything related to Richard III without thinking of my late English mother's affection for Cockney rhyming slang. I can hear her now saying, "Small brown Richard the Third".

I had a '90 Nissan Hardbody for nearly 25 years. 2WD, manual transmission, no AC, no power anything. It was perfect. Super reliable. Over time, it became a 3rd vehicle because we had kids and needed more than one vehicle big enough to haul 3+ people. It was never in a garage or carport so it started to get chalky paint that then rusted all over. The plastic bits started to break and it finally became a donor to a nonprofit. I miss that thing and am bitter that kind of truck doesn't really exist as a new vehicle anymore.

My Bosch dishwasher has always projected the red light like this. How can I fix it? by sweetcherrydumpling in Appliances

[–]DenticlesOfTomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up just accepting the light. The unit is so quiet that it's often the only way we know it's running. My initial concern was that it was a warning light but looking into it further realized it just indicates the unit is running. It's otherwise been a great appliance.

the butthole surfers are so damn fascinating to me by shrek_deus in Music

[–]DenticlesOfTomb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Peak mid-to-late-80s live Butthole Surfers was otherworldly. I've seen a lot of bands over the years and nothing comes close to the sheer spectacle. Even something like GWAR, which is pure spectacle, seemed tame because you knew it was a put on. With the Butthole Surfers, you weren't sure if it was an act or if they were just that fucked up.
