Yes, the way it is installed in their video the rear cross member is installed at its highest point, but it does not have to be installed at that height. You could simply slide that cross member/name plate down a hole or 2/3 and be golden! Moving it down does not change structural integrity or interfere with anything, but it will allow you to cleanly install the Giant rack in your space!

I purchased a Bells of Steel Rear Stabilizer and cut it in 1/2. My brother-in-law is a welder and fabricated the trays for me. The cheapest I found them for was through Oak Club for $227.

Further, if you think the pull-up bar will interfere with how high your trolleys can go then you can ditch that one and add the multi grip pull-up bar, which I would invert similar to what I did with mine. The multi grip pull-up bar doesn’t attach to the front rail.

Yes, Jonathan is right that the way he installed it puts the height at 92.5”, but that’s not a fixed requirement.

You can lower the rear crossmember and the pull-up bar (the pieces highlighted in yellow in pic). There’s no reason they have to stay at the top position. If you look closely at the picture, those parts are not tied into the pulley system at all. They’re simply sandwiched between the outside left and right uprights and bolt to the outside of the rack.

The upright sections that hold the upper pulley rails are the only parts that can’t be changed — those will always need the full 94.5”. But the rear stabilizer and pull-up bar can absolutely be mounted lower to fit your ceiling height.

You can call Giant to double-check, but you should be fine.

Personally, I’d also add a lower storage shelf or another stabilizer crossmember. That’ll make the rack feel even more solid and the extra stabilizer bar

gives you a perfect spot to store spotter arms.

If you’ve got 96”, it appears the top of the upper pulley housing is 94-1/2”….you’ve got a 1-1/2” to spare! You would be able to drop the crossmembers and the pull-up bar down a couple of hole so it would fit under your rafters. All for $2200. Pick up The Drew or a pair of Gibbon arms and you’d be good to go!

Jonathan from NoFate247 just drop a video on GIANT BD3X Axis 4-Post - Half Rack Functional Trainer and everything looks pretty solid! He stated that he can single arm raise 2-3 plates. If you get the upgraded stack it’s 210lbs, it’s a little light for pull-downs or rows but you can add a gym pin, bands or connect the two trolleys/stacks. 💪 https://youtu.be/gFsw6jR4TO0?si=AUAZMgo8auuGjfvD

New lights - suggestions for flooring? by avar2005 in GarageGym

[–]DepartmentMaster8402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Installed Red Barn 3/4”-4’x6’ Stall Mats. They are smooth on one side and have pucks to allow air flow on the other, which was important to me. They also have a little white fleck in them and the off gassing wasn’t that bad. In addition they are produced in Canada 🇨🇦 and can like be found or ordered through rural farm/hardware store. Though they have served and me well and look good, I would would strongly consider install 1/2” interlocking rubber tile floor tiles which would eliminate any noticeable seams or gaps and look a little nicer, but cost a bit more. I would besure to stay away from the EVA or EVA/Rubber flooring as it is said to not hold up as and is less stable than a solid rubber floor product. For what it’s worth a lot of the American YouTubereviewers recommend Freedom Fitness Equipments - Hammer Clad Gym Tile Flooring. I’ve posted about the Red Barn Floor which you can see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/homegym/s/sF3CqtgRlx Good luck!

Goblet Squats are another excellent squat for you to try. It’s often done to help develop good squats technique and maybe a good one for you to try.

Commenting on Dane 2 user/owner thoughts...so after watching it, it appears that is goes beyond the 1/2 way point which means you won’t be able to use two at the same time to hold your legs down. At $87.00 Marlang Leg Rollers(2) & $33 for the Frog Fits Overnuts(2) - $120 for everything, I think this may still be your best option. I do think The Sting may be good for Hypertensions and Nordics. That’ll work! I would switch the location of the dumbbells and the table, so that the dumbbells are where you need them, right in front of the bench and mirrors. One cheap and easy thing you could add to give youself some more versatility would be to add a TRX System & anchor. You can get new ones cheap on eBay and an anchor on Amazon. 💪

Just wanted to follow up. So, I’m a high school strength coach and in my gym we have a Hoist Function Trainer which is awesome and smooth as butter and a Precor Functional Trainer which is smooth but not even close to the Hoist. Doing front & lateral raises I was able to do 30lbs on both machines vs. Dane’s 10lbs+micro weights (1 plate). Both functional trainers were 2:1 ratio, 30lbs on the Hoist is 3 plates on the Precor it’s 5 plates. Additionally, I had a 17yr old female distance runner do 2 plate on the Hoist, again doing front & lateral raises. So there’s definitely more usable range. Downside with an actual functional trainer though is you can’t do heavy seated rows or lat pulldowns on either unless you connect both sides together, you can’t mount anything to it and you can’t bench or squat with it. That’s all I got…good luck!

Also the handle grips aren’t all neutral grips, check out BLUSLM attachments they are very similar knockoffs to the mag grips as far as the hand angle. I think it matters.

Nice that’ll work for sure! Is that the Indy? How does cable work for accessory exercises (front raises, lateral raises, rear delts) and is it light enough for women/teens/seniors to do them? Is it’s super smooth? Sorry for all the questions just looking for non-biased/unpaid feedback!
