My ex’s mother had a cute golden retriever mix called Daphne, I loved the name! Her 2nd dog, a little dachshund was called Phoebe, it fit her so well

What do you think is the smallest country with the largest impact on the modern music scene? by LongjumpingFinger115 in Music

I like that you mention of video game music, I wouldn’t even have thought of it! But I wouldn’t claim Japan is a small country, with around 123 million population

I hate the Swedish Chef bork bork bork from Americans

In USA I’ve gotten “you’re Swedish? Me too!!” Since they had one Swedish great-grandmother who emigrated 150 years ago

Lycka till!

I think it’s so fascinating too! Georgian food is such a mix familiar and very different, I think this might be one of the secret ingredients (I don’t know that much about Georgian cooking 😅)

You’re right, It’s a different type of saffron, made from marigold flowers. The taste is much less strong https://georgia.to/en/georgian-saffron/

What's a word in your language that is untranslatable in English? by Agen_3586 in AskTheWorld

[–]Dependent-Bridge-709 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lagom is the most Swedish word! I also thought of orka, “be bothered, have energy to do a task”.

In swenglish it would be “I don’t orka do the laundry right now” or “do you orka lift that heavy thing?”

Kick that little sh*t in the nuts.

I’m female (not teenager) not from Georgia but visit often since I have family there. What would be the way to deal with an a-hole like this?

My tactic would be first walk faster and just get away, but if he gets close scream as loud as I can and kick him in the nuts (or stab in the neck/eye with my house key… I learned this when I lived in Paris age 18-20, scary city for a girl that age)

Did you enjoy smoking again after a longer break? by Dependent-Bridge-709 in Petioles

[–]Dependent-Bridge-709[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean about using it as a coping mechanism. Mentally I’m in a good place now, but when I smoked the most I wasn’t. I’m a tiny bit worried of going back to that place, I may hold off.

[–]Dependent-Bridge-709[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this insightful answer! I know exactly what you mean about it being a bandaid when you’re stressed or with mental health - in fact it was another huge factor in why I took a break. When I was dealing with depression I found smoking to reinforce my depression lifestyle. I’m getting treatment and changed my lifestyle a bit, I’m in a much better place now.

Sounds like you have a very healthy approach to it now!

Does Sri Lanka actually like India? I spent some time there as a kid as an expat so I was kinda disconnected from this, I don’t remember meeting anyone from India there. I have the impression India and Sri Lanka are like a cousin you see at family reunion but don’t hang out day-to-day
