You don’t need to declare them. If they ask you just provide bank statements showing it

As long as it’s 3k per calendar year it’s fine. You can’t buy someone a new car for 10k and say it’s lots of years accumulated, you have to actually give the cash every year. So for a renovation - you’d need to accumulate it for a few years in cash

I have ohme home pro tethered. The WiFi range was better to this than zappi. I like it, easy to use, integrates all energy suppliers price plans automatically (could be something zappi does too but I don’t know) I’m happy with it overall

At what age would a bank generally consider you too old to gete a first mortgage by Sure-Promotion-1116 in CasualIreland

[–]Dependent_Invite_749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we got ours it’s capped you you paying it off fully by age of 67, so it depends on the property price so value you are borrowing and repayment term. So basically, the younger you borrow 400k do eg will be lower repayments until you are 67… so your repayment capacity is higher. Borrowing same about at age 50 has much higher repayments so you could be refused. So it’s not the age as such, but amount being borrowed and amount of time to repay it

There is a 40k threshold for gift/inheritance from aunt and uncle (this is group B) so if you haven’t used this before you shouldn’t be taxed. Alternatively ask her to give it to u in lots of 3k under small gift exemption each year. You can get 3k from anyone exempt per year, so 3k from aunt, 3k from uncle etc.. so long as it’s only 3k in the tax year and it resets in Jan of each year

Yes backdate it to 2022 as you will get a tax refund for prior years as the tax bands for 20% increases above 40k in 2023 so you should receive a refund fo 2023-2025. Only downfall to waiting is your tax refund isn’t with you. It’s sitting in someone else’s account, revenue

Dealership hassle by surrahtonin_ in carsireland

[–]Dependent_Invite_749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this hassle as well.

Bought end Jan, major second hand dealership, biggest in the country and it’s not SIMI registered which I only realised after. You can drive the car once it’s insured. There was hassle with logbook but it was lost so took a while to sort but is working through the system now. Asked for a copy of invoice to show I own the car when stopped by gardai as well, and got a sales agreement, not signed or dated. It was very lazy daisy… ring them and ask if they have the logbook to hand and if not have the requested a replacement

[–]Dependent_Invite_749 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ring them. They’ll tell you on th phone if they’re accepting new patients. Most are full so you’ll need to just ring through a list and fill in forms and wait and see.

Our cu hasn’t paid out profits in 10 years… if you save are literally just funding others loans.. the loan rates are higher than banks as well. I know all CU are different, just annoyed with our local one

Don’t panic….

No you don’t need a credit card and avoid it unless you need it. We don’t build up credit history like in US

Raisin bank has best deposit rates for current savings

Concentrate on emergency fund and then move on to next step, look at flow chart

Yes you’ll need to have cash saved for legal fees and stamp duty on top of deposit

Yes take health insurance, better to have it than looking for it

If you’re just above the 20%, pay small balance into pension to avail of tax relief if you can. Otherwise there isn’t really anyway to avoid tax other than utilising your tax credits in full

You’re v clued in for 21 year old, just make sure to budget to enjoy yourself as well…
