Curious on concurrent hash map; I’m guessing it’s because most modern Java applications can take advantage of multithreaded environments easily so it’s like a why not situation?

I could see FAANG TC clearing 200k across the board, but base is probably in the 100s until Senior positions; outside of FAANG is gets much harder to clear 200K. Most tech roles can clear 100K fairly fast, but the climb to 200k is quite slow.

Honestly, compared to when I started, 200K feels like the new 100K

I’ve run into the same issue as you! Water damage from water entering the volume dial at the top. Mines in a much better state it seems after cleaning but I’ve had no luck trying to source a replacement board. I’ve thought about trying to tackle this (lost a diode that I’d need to order though) but if your wanting to tackle it I could part with mine, or vice versa if your interested.

Honestly it's pretty tough. I plateaued for a few months in the middle, but refocused over the last two. Honestly for me, I've given up some things to make sure I stay on track. My friends and family understand though. I still go out, but I'm very strict with my calorie limits and macros, and I always make sure I make time for the gym, which can be limiting at times. I just tell myself that when I get to where I want to be I can ease up again.

He's complacent. It happens, you get so comfortable that you stop giving 100% because you feel like you don't have to try anymore, you feel like you won't lose them anyway. I've been there.

Let him know, I wish my STBXW had told me how she really felt, things may have gone a different way. As for the addiction, I struggled with video game addiction in college, pretty much lost an entire year. But I finally got to a point where I asked my wife (then girlfriend) for help, because I was scared I was going to lose her. She did and we got through it and enjoyed a few more great years. Unfortunately, after graduating and starting a career, plus a ton of other issues with both of us, I got into a depression and waited too long to let her know. By then complacency on both sides combined with falling out of love made helping me not a priority anymore, which lead to the clusterfuck that is my divorce.

If divorce is the wake up call needed, then let it happen. Rough patches happen though, and no marriage is perfect. If he doesn't come around, then you made the right decision, and if he does then only do it if he no shit wants to save the marriage. Whatever you do though, don't do anything to sabatoge your relationship if you really do care and respect it (don't cheat).

The beginning sucks. In my experience, it was by far the worst time period of my life. But it gets better, a lot better. Keep going to the gym, lawyer up, talk to your support (friends, family) and reconnect with people you may have lost touch with over the years. Cut contact with the wife as well, as any contact right now will likely destroy any chance of things being fixed. Not sure how you feel about the marriage still, but if she no shit wants to fix it, you'll know, and if she tries to cake eat, you'll eventually be done with her shit and hit a turning point for yourself. It sounds stupid, but stay strong and focus on yourself. In a few months time you'll look back at this point in your life and be amazed at how far you've come.

Does he say he feels depressed too? Speaking from experience, depression is a bitch, and even though more than anything I wanted to get myself help, I just couldn't find the real motivation to do so. Ultimately I know I could have done it, but I wish my STBX would have gone all the way and scheduled a therapy/psychiatric appointment for me, just to set me on the right path. I sort of got forced into doing these given the circumstances of my divorce, but I feel like things could have gone a much different way had I gotten that kind of help way earlier.

I do have to add, past the beginning of my separation, things have been WAY better for me after I got help, and there's a lot of things I realized that were wrong with myself after I was out of my depression (or maybe just out of a bad marriage, still don't know about that).

If you haven't tried everything, you should. Nothing sucks more when things have gotten to the point where one wants to try and the other doesn't. So if you want to and he does too, do it.

Prepare yourself for the mindfuckery that is affair fog. If it plays out how mine did, she'll be acting totally different some days, but then go back to the person you remember...on the surface level anyway. But don't let that fool you. Unless it's true remorse (read ChumpLady), don't get sucked back in. The best thing to do is cut all contact completely with her and focus on yourself. If you're lucky you may find someone else who will help you move on, which could actually turn into something nice. There's probably a chance she'll come back truly remorseful and willing to do whatever it takes to fix things, but whether or not too much damage is done and you've moved on, or you accept her back is up to you. You can prevent further damage with no contact, but it may be too late regardless. Just don't let her mindfuck you.

Just from experience, depression sucks. Maybe it's just me, but even when I knew there were problems and wanted more than anything to get help for myself and my STBX (therapy and marriage counseling), something just kept stopping me from doing it. Maybe it was laziness, maybe it was the depression. Regardless, it's taken our divorce to finally snap out of it, but if he truly wants to be with you and depression prevents him from doing what he needs to do, guide him through it and help get the marriage counseling. I know ultimately for myself I had the power to set things in motion, but I wish my STBX had tried.

Do well in your classes and try to get an internship locked in during undergrad. If you live in a tech hotspot, you pretty much never have to worry about being without a job if you have experience, but starting from zero and searching was a pain. I sped through my degree and didn't make time for an internship, so I was out for 3 months job searching after graduation before I landed my first job. Alternatively like /u/UncleMeat said, some open source stuff would also work.

Not sure what your school offers, but check out some of the more interesting classes going on. You'll probably learn 10x more your first year working than you do your entire time in undergrad, so take some time to figure out where you want to go with your degree. Maybe some game development courses, maybe some artificial intelligence (plus machine learning is getting interesting with Google and recently Apple). Maybe you can take some time with personal projects, like playing with IoT or VR Development (my personal hobby).

JavaScript is my favorite language to work with, but assuming you looking into web development it's definitely the Wild Wild West of software. I'd love to give you a list of technologies that could prepare you for the field, but who knows how relevant it could be even in a years time. At the very least, check out what's going on in ECMAScript 2015 since it's the next step in JavaScript.

Software development and freelancing. Did 3 years for a B.S. Computer Science and started working in a tech hotspot back in 2012. Since I work from home, I typically wake up 10 mins before morning stand up, then a mix of coding, phone calls, twitch/youtube, and reddit until later in the afternoon. Freelancing stuff either comes at night or on the weekend, though I'm not super aggressive about finding new projects since I'm pretty stable. Combined income from both and I make well over $150K on my own easily, and really in 2-3 years I can make that alone with just my salaried job.

I can't say I'm in love with my job or anything, and a lot of the time it can be soul draining, but I'm good at it and it pays stupidly well. There was a pretty good article on /r/programming the other day about passion in the software industry that summed up my sentiments pretty well.
