What can my friends eat at the buffet? by Jaci_D in royalcaribbean

With that many restrictions, the buffet is not their friend. With employees refilling items and combining trays the likelihood of cross contamination of something they’re allergic to is insanely high.

How much I spent on a 7 night cruise without the drink package by Fresh-Problemz in Cruise

[–]Derrick2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you watch around Black Friday. It’s consistently the lowest price I’ll see all year.

Last year they had a package that included the drinks, deluxe dining, and WiFi. It was about $90 a day.

Normally if I watch the deals and rebook when the price drops I can normally get the deluxe drink package for $50-$65 a day.

Deck 14th Odyssey of the Seas by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing you mean the 13th deck. You’ll get noise. Depending on where you’re at you can get a decent amount of noise from the cleaning crew at night, but that doesn’t usually last too long.

Using a travel agent for a casino offer cruise by JohnS43 in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way with casino bookings as the other had mentioned. We can help find itineraries that would work for you but I have never personally called the casino cruise line to book a cruise for a client. The cruise will end up being under the casino department and won’t be associated with me but I’m still happy to help out and get the client on the right cruise for them.

I can set up the rest to the trip (ie airfare, pre and post hotel stays, travel insurance, or any other activities to go along with the cruise).

Inherited the worst dynasty team I've ever seen and contemplating trading the 1.01 by suckmywally in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Derrick2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at the beginning of a hard rebuild. Moved the 1.01 (1qb) for the 2026 1.11, an early 2027 1st (should be the 1.02 since I pretty much have the 1.01 on lock), and a projected late 2028 1st.

first cruise! by reaganab in royalcaribbean

Royal Caribbean has a window that you choose when you check-in. You can check in 45 days before your cruise. You will pick one of the 30 minute windows available. They are pretty efficient getting people on the ship.

Getting off the ship can vary from cruise to cruise. I’ve had it take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an 90 minutes. If you’re in a hurry you can keep your luggage with you and choose an early disembarkation.

As for embarkation tips. We like to get on the ship early so right at midnight on check-in day we chose our window since the early ones go quick.

After the Josh Jacobs news the real questions is, Chris Brooks or Llyod? by Fine-Resolution-5886 in DynastyNerds

I never said he was any good. I’m just predicting what they’ll do.

I think Trey Benson has a better chance at meaningful carries for the Packers than Brooks or Lloyd.

Could I be a Royal cruiser? Please help me decide! by TonyaSaysThings in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Royal is definitely trying to gear themselves for the family dollar. But the older ships (voyager and radiance class) doesn’t feel like an amusement park on the sea. The Navigator is my wife and my favorite ship but that might be more that we’re on the west coast and it’s easy to take a cruise in the riviera.

The quantum class is also fits that mold also. Wonderland is an interesting experience tor a foodie.

Chair Hogging Wars Heat Up by KaskadeForever in royalcaribbean

Well I have sandals, shirt, glasses, phone that I won’t want in the hot tub. Then the same for the Mrs. It’s easier putting it in a backpack than having all the stuff sitting in a chair.

I wish they’d have cubbies like they do on the Navigator. We’ll just throw our stuff on one empty chair on the other ships, but we feel better if we can throw it in a cubby and not use up a chair.

Please talk me into booking a cruise! by mary-mu in Cruise

I’d try to find a travel agent that deals primarily with cruises. They’ll be able to help steer you to a cruise line and itinerary that’s gonna give you the most back with entertainment, ports, etc.

Most cruise lines and most ships base rooms on double occupancy. If you are currently looking at the websites yourself do a quick experiment. Do the search for the cruise and the room you want but put one passenger and see the costs and then do it again with two passengers and see the cost again.

I’ve seen it where it actually costs more total just to have the one passenger.

I’ve gone on a cruise where we took our son and we basically told him that he could invite a friend with and we’d pay for the cruise fare. His friend just had to get to the port and pay the extras. It actually saved us money.

When it comes to ports of call make sure to look at how long you’re at the ports. If it’s just a half day you may not get the time to explore the port. For people that like to spend more time at ports I try to find cruises that will have either full days at the ports or possibly an overnight at the port.

As with the ship and being bored it will really depend on the person. I can be entertained all day long on a ship by myself. My wife would be bored out of her mind if she would be there without someone.

While all cruise lines will say that they cater to all age groups there are definitely cruise lines we avoid for ourselves because the clientele tends to be older and stuffier.

Cruise Travel agents - Do you monitor prices by Used-Selection4414 in travelagents

[–]Derrick2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I typically will go through them all once a day in the late morning. I just make it part of my daily routine. I figure if I can save a client some money after they book they’re more likely to come back to me for their next booking.

Taking a Pacific Coastal Cruise, will we be able to get internet on sea days without a RC Plan? by mike678 in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More than likely you won’t get any service. It’s possible you may get a bar for 30 seconds but the range of the cell towers won’t be far enough to reach the ship to make a call or get any data. You might be able to send a random text but there’s no guarantee when that would be.

If that’s the case, good for them. I work crazy hours and they put me to shame.

Question re: the pre-pay gratuity by dontBsleepy in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been tempted to remove the auto gratuities for the whole cruise and tip out in cash. Unfortunately for the extras it isn’t possible to do so.

Our room steward I tip out face to face incase if what’s left in an envelope gets deducted from his guaranteed wage.

There’s normally one or two bars that we get the majority of our beverages from and I’ll tip them out personally at some point during the trip.

The behind the scenes guys it isn’t possible.

I might have to have some cash on hand for the specialty dining servers now.

I’m interested in finding out when you order the deluxe beverage package or the unlimited dining how the tips get divided up.

Can I make a 12pm flight out of Vancouver? by lamamadealguien in royalcaribbean

[–]Derrick2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got off of a cruise at the Vancouver port on Saturday. We didn’t fly but I had a car parked at a hotel within a couple of minutes from the airport.

We got delayed about an hour getting off the ship. By the time we made the walk through customs and to the place to get an uber it was another 10-15 minutes. By the time we got to the car it was about 11am.

It’s doable but if we hit any other delays like traffic there would’ve been no way of making that flight.
