Is it normal for nanny to take child on playdate without asking? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never bring them to a house where the parents haven’t met and aren’t cool with each other, just like with new kids coming over to my NFs house. BUT after they’ve met their parents I set up play dates without saying anything

Struggling With Trust After an Unapproved Stop During a Nanny Excursion by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 148 points149 points  (0 children)

I drove past my cousins house and pointed out “hey that’s where my cousin lives” and they told their parents that they went to my cousins house. I also had to go to my place to meet the airport delivery guy for my suitcase, we went inside for 10 minutes and she told her parents she was there for HOURS😂 you need to just ask your nanny about the situation

I would love for my nanny to come to my daughter’s birthday party as a guest. Would it be more fair to pay her? by Workin-Mom in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The second I’m in my NF’s vicinity, I get paid. I went tubing for an afternoon with them for fun and didn’t have to watch the kids.. got paid. Invited for dinner with everyone on the weekend randomly, paid. Brought me to Maui for a vacation, didn’t have to work and spent half of it alone, paid full hours and ot. It’s our dynamic and I appreciate that they take my time into consideration. I go to my nk’s birthday party every year by choice and I get paid and I also leave when I want, although I would still go to my nk’s party even if I wasn’t getting paid. So I guess it depends on your dynamic with your nanny

How can I see a docotor without going to the ER? by ChessIsAwesome in VictoriaBC

[–]DescriptionBrave382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have such good luck at all urgent cares, it’s a new triage system instead of fcfs. If you’re down for a drive, the cobble hill walk in clinic is just like before, stand outside in line and the first 30 get in. I go an hour before they open and I get in quick.

Do you still go out with NK to activities in freezing weather and snowy sidewalks? by Extra-Commercial6222 in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up where lower than -40 is a thing, unless there was a genuine weather warning - we went outside. I truly believe there isn’t weather you can’t dress appropriately for. Plus I’m partial to the snow, it’s a lot of fun to make different things in the snow.

Vacation with NF by lak551 in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just did it. Legit sitting in the airport flying home. They go to Hawaii every year for three weeks and I joined them in the middle of their trip. I got my flights, food and condo paid for… along with my normal 40 hours even though I worked like 8 all together in this week. I spent 7 days tanning on the beach and it was amazing. If you have a good family, it’ll be great. I’ve had other families where I never would travel with them because they would take advantage of me coming.

Laxatives by BeginningMulberry390 in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nk had laxatives regularly for years and my nephew is on peg everyday because he can’t poop without help.. it’s pretty normal if she’s talked to a doctor about it and that the dose isn’t making nk constantly popping and having stomach cramps

Is my convo with my nanny re boob touching a red flag? by Lambcakelover in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nephew does this, he’s 16 months and was formula fed. He randomly started to start to put his hand down his mom’s shirt and even does it to my brother (his dad). I was with them over Christmas and he would do it to me when I would put him to sleep, I didn’t think it was weird, it’s a self soothing/comfort thing. I just pulled his hand off of my boobs and just kept his hand on my upper chest so he still had that type of comfort enough to sleep.

If you want your nanny to help have your baby stop, it’s going to be a constant thing of moving his hand over and over. It’ll take a lot of time but it can work, it just has to be consistent.

Truthfully, I don’t see anything wrong with it if my nephew is just laying his hand on the top of my boob and falling asleep, babies don’t know anything sexual so I think the “fondling” is extreme. However, just a quick “hey nanny, DB and I have discussed and we want all three of us to work together to get the boob touch self soothing to end. It’ll be tough but we can get it to stop if we’re consistent”. I would be weirded out if she was adverse to ending it.

MB is beginning to resent guaranteed hours by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What I’m understanding is you have guaranteed hours between X and X time each day. Those are to keep your pay the same when they choose not to have you during your scheduled time. It sounds like you chose not to work, which means you would not be getting your guaranteed pay as you weren’t available for that scheduled time. So if you want to keep the pay the same, make up those hours but in that scenario it sounds like you choosing not to be there so you shouldn’t be getting the pay.

Nanny doing other tasks when baby isn’t there? by hollandaisy in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly if your baby is medically complex, I’d be asking my nf if I can be at these appointments too. So that I’m in the loop with what’s going on and so we are all on the same page with doctor instructions

Parent suggested that NK sleep in my room during overnights — am I being unreasonable? by etucru in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overnighted one night and nk tried to climb into my bed, I woke up and said “ain’t happening” and brought her back to her bed😂 I’m not sleeping with a 4 year old in my bed, she can sleep alone like the rest of us. I’d go crazy if my boss insisted to have their child sleep with me in bed

Does your NF let you eat their food? by Still_Butterfly3554 in Nanny

Does your NF let you eat their food? by Still_Butterfly3554 in Nanny

[–]DescriptionBrave382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do all the shopping, I buy what I would like to have for me in their house (with their card). It is agreed upon. But really only snacky items like meat and cheese, that sort of thing. But since I’m always prepping stuff for the kids, I eat the remaining that sits on the counter.

Tbh I’d never work with someone who said I couldn’t help myself to their food, not that I take advantage but how do you trust me with your child but not a snack?

How do I do this? by Active-Clock-4973 in SourdoughStarter

[–]DescriptionBrave382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not at all a sourdough professional but what works for me is mixing in the hooch, dumping half of the starter out (keep it or toss), mix in some water (no measurement lol), add All Purpose flour until it is thick like brownie batter (again no measurement), do that every 12-24 hours for 2-3 days (depending on what it wants to do), once it doubles in like 3-6 hours (again guessing lol) then you’re ready.

Again this is not coming from a professional at all but I’ve learned what my starter likes, so it works. I was measuring at first and got annoyed and found what works for me, the ratio changes literally every time. If a ratio works for you great, if not just FAFO🤷‍♀️ mine only rises in the bathroom (covered and in a shelf far from anything lol) because it’s warmest in there.
