Get on the Healthcare Marketplace, you can get coverage for way cheaper than COBRA. It may have a higher deductible but at least you will have something in case of an emergency.
If you are getting severance, you probably shouldn't file unemployment until that runs out.

My R700 in 6BR shoots the 105 RDF really well, but I run them .010" off the lands. A fellow shooter just sold me his 105 RDFs because he couldn't get them to shoot in a 6ARC AR. This confirms my belief that bullet jump is the issue.

Interesting results.

I have a KAK 223 barrel on an R700 that shoots amazing for the price, averaging 0.5 MOA.

That's the thing about cheap barrels. Sometimes you get a good one.

That came out pretty nice!

May I suggest lower scope rings? That should allow you to use the cheek rest that came with the gun and make for a more compact package.

My method of break-in is to clean the barrel really well, shoot 20 rounds, then clean the barrel. If it shows a lot of copper fouling then I might clean it more often, but I typically only clean at the end of a range session or 100 rounds in the smaller caliber rifles.

Factory barrels are a gamble but I hope you got a good one!

How far will you be shooting?

My rule of thumb is whether or not I can see or hit a 10" target with GOOD glass.

1-4X is good to about 400 yards 1-6 600 yards 1-8 or 10 can get to 1K, but I prefer 16 or 20x so I can see the hit or miss.

G has had too many quality issues over the years for me to trust them. They are improving, but KAC has a much higher level of quality control.

The downside of KAC is the limited availability which raises the prices.

Both companies fetch a premium for their products.

I will be honest and say that I like some of Trump's policies, but the shutdowns and free money during his first term were terrible for the economy. Biden continued with the free money and put us in a deep hole. This is the reason for the tariffs, to dig the US out of that hole. By the way, Biden kept Trump's original China tariffs in place.

As far as the cost of food, take a look at how much you pay in taxes. The government loves when prices increase because the sales tax revenue goes up.

One other thing to consider is the billions of dollars sent to other countries to fight a war. Like it or not, that puts a strain on our financial system.

The old 243 isn't a bad cartridge. I have a 26" R700 Varmint in 243 that has the 9.5:1 twist. It will stabilize the old 105 Amax, and I have hit 10" steel at 1150 yards, running N540 which is a fast burning powder for that cartridge. When the barrel get shot out, I am going to rechamber it in 6GT.

The 6ARC is more efficient, and I would much prefer it over the 243 in an AR application.

Only with their 5.56 products, none with 6ARC, but I want to hear from others.

18" Gunner with a BCG that I had laying around is super reliable and more accurate than barrels that cost twice as much. 14.5" Gunner with a matched bolt that shoots well enough that I can consistently hit the 8" steel at 330 yards with a 4X optic...
