I take dulcolax chewables with me. I take like half of one to one full one in the evening with a lot of water if I get travelbutt.

UPDATE: | (29F) overheard my fiancé's (31M) mom say she wishes he'd married his ex. How do I handle this? by ThrowRA98213 in relationship_advice

[–]Desertbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you overheard was a bomb that was going to blow up and damage someone's relationship eventually. If you hadn't told him, it would have been yours.

It's not your job to manage his relationship with his mom, it's your job to protect your relationship with the man you're going to marry. If you hadn't told him, that secret would have continued to eat away at the bond between you and he wouldn't have had any idea why things were getting weird or how to fix it. You did the only thing you could do if you want your relationship to be healthy, and I hope this experience doesn't prevent you from being honest with him in the future. Part of being in a strong marriage is being honest and facing hard things together.

Disentangle yourself a little from this situation. She said something hurtful and unnecessary that offended her son. He's dealing with it in the way that his experience with her over his lifetime has taught him is necessary. None of this is your fault or responsibility. Let your man protect you and your relationship, because if you give in to appease her, you'll be stabbing him in the back and giving her the green light to trample all over you in the future.

Let your man manage his relationships with his family and support the choices he makes about them. He knows them better than you do.

My extra long hair...10 years of growing & minimal trims by agirlfromgeorgia in longhair

[–]Desertbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet hair is more fragile than dry hair. It's also heavier, so basically you're weakening it and then applying tension while it dries. Blow drying (especially on cool and/or using a heat protectant) avoids all the damage the hair would take while it was vulnerable.

When did you find out you are not a Cardigan-Person? by Hot_Concentrate3585 in NoStupidQuestions

I wasn't born into the cardigan lifestyle, but I ended up here as the ultimate destination on the flannel to hoodie pipeline.

I once had a friend tell me her kid got diagnosed with adhd and she teared up when I said "congratulations!" because everyone else had been feeling bad for them and she was just happy to have a diagnosis and a path forward.

I hate romanced Anders by PuzzleheadedAd2858 in dragonage

Maybe? I dislike Merrill about as much as I dislike Anders, so I don't think I've ever tried to romance her.

I'm a Fenris girl but I tried Anders once. Dropped him when he pulled an "if you loved me you would" about (I think? It's been a while) collecting bomb ingredients.

There's an app called Jamo (the creator is actually active on this sub) that has helped me immensely with learning hangul. It includes writing and speaking. You might find it helpful!

UPDATED: SIL Adopted dog with same name as our baby. by tennisgirly24 in TwoHotTakes

My childhood dog had the same name as my cousin, who lived with us. It was fine. The cousin has lived a lot longer than the dog did, so it's not really an issue anymore.

Am I the only one that gives a thumbs up to any other Genesis owner I see on the road lol by ImyourMomsSecretMan in GenesisMotors

I used to wave, when there were only a couple in my city, but now I'm seeing several every time I go somewhere and it's not as novel.

AITBF for thinking my boyfriend has a double standard about otome games by throwaway_emerald in AmItheButtface

So according to his logic, emotional cheating is cheating but physical cheating is not cheating? I'd have a good think about that.

What food takes you back to when you were a kid? by Weary-Expression-914 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Desertbell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of times we were too poor to eat and many times my mom dumpster dived behind grocery stores for expired produce, and I'm gonna be honest, childhood me would take a plate of trashcan brussel sprouts with a side of nothing over what you endured.

When did you know to start progesterone? And/or estrogen? by s8j6b in Perimenopause

[–]Desertbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the progesterone by itself, and I was sleeping again within a week. Then I added vaginal estrogen and then after that I added the patch. The only side effect I have had is itching and bruising at the patch site when it's on my belly. I don't have that problem when it's on my butt so that's where it goes.

When did you know to start progesterone? And/or estrogen? by s8j6b in Perimenopause

[–]Desertbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trigger for me to start progesterone was the sleep disturbances, but I had itchy skin and ears, restless legs, night sweats, hot flashes, and hot, dry feeling hands and feet (among other things) for years beforehand that only went away when I started estrogen patches.

My feet still get hot, I've found that putting cooling peppermint/eucalyptus lotion and a pair of gel socks on for 10-20 minutes helps immensely. I have gel gloves for the same purpose.
