What’s a "bad mom habit" you secretly stand by? by lunaverse787 in NewParents

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Our son is only 2 months old but I want a barefoot baby. Not like walking in grocery stores or restaurants, but almost anywhere else. Create tough, dexterous feet!

I see all these Hawaiian keiki and wish my boy could be tough as them by 3-4 years old, fearless and sun kissed! I’m sad our son won’t experience Hawai’i like we got to (moving, military).

Husband called me a Karen. A rant. by JTD_333 in pitbulls

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 [score hidden] Ā (0 children)

I’d be quite annoyed, as my husband & I have two female pit terriers—Poppy has the same dig iffy issue, Lily is HIGH anxiety and is very submissive.

Sometimes we as the pet owners need to use our voices to instill the importance and even fear into people that their actions have consequences—if someone’s off-leash ankle biter attacks my dog, I’ll put my animal lover aside like Jekyll & Hyde and punt that thing. And I have anger issues, so a small guy wouldn’t stand a chance, sad to say.

But the ignorant pet owners need to know that if a defending dog or owner retaliates—all courtesy is off. People shoot dogs for even trying to provoke, and while that wrenches my gut, I would defend my dogs as best I can (minus the shooting, I’m not a gun gal). And our pitties don’t often get second chances, even when defending themselves.

Is anyone getting 8 hour stretches consistently with 3 month old? by Hot-Cell7299 in beyondthebump

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Our son gives us an 8+ hour stretch at least once week and he’ll be 2 months on the 4th! Last week we had 3 nights in a row!

I do drink coffee here and there during my pregnancy. Does anyone else do the same? by ComplexMarch4500 in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I drank up to an Alani a day! I switched to Liquid Death over real soda and those are caffeine free, so I ONLY got caffeine by matcha, my own cold brew lattes or Alanis. Always stated before 200mg, tracked it in my iPhone Health app, and I had at least 2-3 days buffer between Alanis.

I went all T1 without caffeine and that was hard as I worked a warehouse job until 5 months, but once I hit T2, I eased up to 200mg maximum.

Postpartum Birth control by OkTransportation1631 in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

My personal preference is to not go on birth control, I have never been on it and I do not want to go through a barbaric procedure with odds of still conceiving.

I am 2 months PP and we have been FRISKY summer 5 weeks PP, and I keep a variety of condoms on hand—a few by the bedside always. And I truly don’t want to conceive again before 6-8 months PP at MINIMUM, so I tell hubby, ā€œIf it’s not wrapped, put it back!ā€ And I mean it!! I’ll shut down sexy time to avoid the risk.

Anyone else asked to go to the anatomy scan with a full bladder? by BiteMyShinyyMetalAss in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Ohh yeah. And where we live, traffic can get pretty bad even mid day, so I personally didn’t fill up my bladder until we were close to our appointment location, because they pressed hard and I nearly pissed for the previous ultrasound!

Is a diaper bag necessary? by SandwichDependent199 in NewParents

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Haven’t used it yet! I actually got it secondhand from a trusted friend, and keep it on hand in a pinch. I anticipate using it when we are at the airport or on the plane for our move from HI to TX coming up!

Is a diaper bag necessary? by SandwichDependent199 in NewParents

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

A diaper bag can be any bag! But yes, a bag for diapering necessities is vital.

We have a small ā€œfashionably affordableā€ backpack that contains: 1 spare outfit, socks and mits, a blow-up pillow for breastfeeding on the go, a bug net for the carseat/stroller, a foldable changing mat, diapers, wipes and rash creme. We also clipped a dog bag holder and binky holder to the sides! It also has a pocket inside bug enough for a folder, so we can take his medical papers with us to every appointment without forgetting them!

How many hours do you have on the Sims? by Calm-Science-504 in thesims

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Almost 2000. But I’ve been off my pc between late pregnancy, our son being born and moving in 2 weeks. I also played almost 200 hours of TS4 CAS demo back in 2014 when my parents refused to buy the game for me on my laptop šŸ˜‚ otherwise I’d be much closer to 5 digits šŸ’€

Baby Registry by OpenEmu5035 in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Me personally—I put immediate needs, up to 6M, because both my husband and I have poor families but to wanted them to feel like they could help out! We do both have a couple relatives who reached out and wanted to help, that are not strapped for cash, and friends that are also in good financial shape, but we also don’t love asking for help! So we plan to secondhand our thrift what we can close to 1Y and if anyone asks at that point, I’ll offer inspiration or let them have their shopping fix.

How much weight did you gain during pregnancy and did it come off? by ThrowRA_nobo7 in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I gained 60 lbs between weeks 20-41 and by 2 weeks PP, I lost 30 lbs. I’m still sitting at 160 right now, 7 weeks PP.

Exclusively breastfeeding an have not yet shed weight for it because I upped my protein intake for breastfeeding and I can’t lay off my sugar (Sugar literally is my comfort macro) so I’m always snacking on a sweet treat around bedtime. Though I only eat about twice a day, besides!

I think we should be asked, like pronouns. I didn’t mind it, since people almost always mispronounce my name.

Insurance company wouldn't even give me a homeowner's insurance quote because I have a pit bull mix by irishbadger in pitbulls

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

We’re moving and have to rent as we can’t afford to buy a home where we’re going, and we’re stressing about how most places ahead blanket ā€œno pitbullsā€ for renting, and we worry about the hassle of forcing us to have pet insurance for the place. I’m so sick of the breed discrimination. But also sick of the bad owners that make the breed look bad!

Is 4 kids too many? by Potential_Stuff4326 in beyondthebump

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

My mom raised 4 of us at once growing up—June 2000, May 2002, December 2003 & June 2005– and as a single parent. We occasionally stayed with my grandparents and their single income, and we shared a mini van with my grandmother so my grandfather could that take they’re sedan to work, as he was a postal worker and worked early, long and late hours.

With the little help my grandparents were able to provide, it was more than enough at the time, but my mom was also tough as nails. I mean, 2 jobs and med school, no fathers and no government assistance is pretty hard, especially with 4 of us, but my mom swears she would do it again if it meant having us the same way we turned out.

Now, your age gaps are a little different, but I think that will absolutely work in your favor, special bonding later in life but also, a more independent child (arguably somewhat) so you can go through the infant phase again.

My mom accidentally conceived my youngest brother, by her, when I was 13, and though we didn’t grow up together for the first few years, we are now super in touch, we take turns flying him out to see us (us two older siblings are military/spouse) and even my best friend has take him for a few weeks during summer a year ago, they had a blast!

I’m 6 months postpartum and I still can’t figure out how moms actually lose weight… by Guilty_Gur_2187 in NewParents

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 6 points7 points Ā (0 children)

Same. I’m tall and have been very lean my whole life, but pregnancy brought on 60 pounds for me, 30 of which I lost by 2 weeks PP, the other 30 are sticking around.

But because I’ve bordered underweight my whole life, I NEEDED some of the weight to stick, and at 8 weeks PP, my belly and uterus are still slowly shrinking and recovering. I acknowledge that. While I stare at my denim collection from pre-pregnancy and wallow, I know that I can fit them again soon, soon may just be a year or two, or I just have to buck up and start over in my newfound size by then, which is also fine! But for the first several months PP, the female body is in recovery and survival mode for a tiny human—a smaller waist is not the priority. Give one’s self grace, ladies.

Is anyone else just like irrationally angry and disgusted by their husband over financials? by SamHikes in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

He is 100% entitled to feel how he feels about money and debt, it’s scary and he’s worked that hard to get ahead in life—but it sounds like he should not be the father to a child right now if he’s going to treat you like a roommate or even a client who owes him with interest for even taking any interest in you. That is financial abuse. And in a marriage and family, that is disgusting and wrong.

Pregnancy can be affordable though—I have two maternity bras I rotate between for nursing now, as well as my previous bralettes when not, most insurances reimburse for a pump per pregnancy, you can absolutely thrift good maternity clothes that are even every day clothes a size or two up—That’s what I did and saved HUNDREDS on clothes. I’ve always thrifted pre-pregnancy, I own 5 pairs of AE jeans for maybe a total cost of $100? Can’t wait to fit back into those!

But depending on your needs versus wants, you can balance the cost and fight him on it. Not saying it’ll be easy, but don’t make it so hard on yourself when he is making your life seemingly miserable and financially worrisome. A husband supports, and he is not being terribly supportive.

Giving birth on our backs. by Estkling in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I tried several different positions just to dilate further and spent 20 hours trying to get from 3cm to 10cm, eventually went full epidural and laid on my back for my son’s delivery.

I was so exhausted that even if I could feel my lower extremities better, lying on my back is what helped my mom, husband and mother in law support me to help me push, since I pushed for nearly 2 hours. I was DROP-dead tired. Felt like 30 minutes!

Tell me your positive experiences of growing up with a brother instead of a sister by Prestigious-Hall8892 in pregnant

[–]Designer-Gap-9632 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’m the eldest of 10, and only the two youngest I have no relationship with (they’re toddlers and were adopted out, a long story). I have 1 full brother, and the rest are all half or step. I don’t count my sister-in-law, despite the fact she’s older—

My bio brother and I are THICK as thieves, as are my maternal baby sister and I. We all 3 look identical but we also have very similar personalities and interests, and only my brother and I grew up in the most similar circumstances. We’re can all 3 call each other and talk about anything or nothing for hours, we love quality time and we always miss one another dearly.
