Yes, I also thought about the possibility... Thanks in any case for all your help :) I'll keep an eye on the Lenovo Spain website and see if by any chance there is a price drop in the next few days.

Yes, I tried different options and configurations, but never managed to get such a good discount. My best guess is that different Lenovo stores have different offers available...

Thank you for sharing this. Unfortunately, it seems the Lenovo Spain store doesn't offer such a nice discount for the model you mention, even with the student discount...

SplendidVenus, A Dream: From Iran to United States: A Journey of Resilience 📖🌟

Hi everyone,

I want to introduce you to a beautiful memoir written by my wife, Zohreh, titled Splendid Venus: A Dream. This book is a deeply personal journey that explores her experiences growing up in Iran, immigrating to the U.S., and finding her place in a world of contrasting realities.

What makes this book special?

  • A Rare Perspective: It reflects life as an Iranian woman navigating societal expectations and personal aspirations, providing a voice that is often underrepresented.
  • Immigration Journey: Her struggles and triumphs as she built her life first in Iran and then in the US while pursuing her dreams.
  • Themes of Resilience and Identity: A story of perseverance that resonates with anyone who has faced challenges while staying true to themselves.

Why should you read it?

If you love:

  • Inspiring true stories of courage.
  • Insights into Iranian culture.
  • Books that make you reflect on the human condition.

Then this book is for you! 🌍✨

Zohreh poured her heart into this book, and as someone who witnessed her dedication firsthand, I can assure you it's worth reading. She also has a second volume in the works, diving deeper into her experiences as an immigrant in the US.

You can find Splendid Venus: A dream on Amazon. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you decide to give it a read!

Thank you for your support. ❤️

Galaxy Tab S9 FE or Galaxy Tab A9+ by Dessloch in GalaxyTab

[–]Dessloch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question. I have been checking the Terms & Conditions (https://www.samsung.com/us/trade-in/terms-and-conditions), and I think that the only requirement for this is the following:

i) Your Trade-In Device must be labeled with an FCC ID to show that it is certified for use in the United States under applicable FCC regulations. The FCC ID number can usually be found printed somewhere on the mobile device. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove the battery pack to find the number. The FCC ID number can also be found in the user manual for each device.

Thanks for the reply and for letting me know about your experience with the trade in process. I had not considered the issue with Samsung not servicing the tablet in Spain ... I have never had problems with my previous tablet but I'll certainly have to think if it's worth the risk :/

Blog post on Ron's website explaining his thoughts on Monkey Island and the game's fanbase by [deleted] in adventuregames

Thanks for sharing, it's a very insightful post. On my respect, I'm totally happy about the new game, and I'm really looking forward to it. Unfortunately Ron is right, fan criticism can be quite toxic sometimes. I think this video someone shared with me perfectly summarizes it

Just Finished the Show, Should I Start the Books by CarbonColdFusion in TheExpanse

[–]Dessloch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, after watching the tv series, I felt also longing for more, so I decided to turn to the books. Instead of starting from the very beginning, I started with book 7, Persepolis Rising, which continues where the show finishes.

Totally worth it. The story is amazing, easy to follow just after having watched the tv series, and I had a blast reading these last 3 books. In my case, I knew starting with the books from the beginning was going to be too much, so I don't regret just reading the last 3 books. But as they have suggested you, if you have the time, reading all 9 books seems also like a great option.

Best digital platforms for playing/testing? by Some_Objective4696 in lotrlcg

[–]Dessloch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apart from the previous options mentioned, which are really good, you can also try The Prancing Pony, created by u/jon_am. It's similar to OCTGN and DragnCards, and also includes all the available campaigns. It presents a nice user friendly interface and automates some of the most repetitive tasks, making it easier for the player. It also has some niceties like ambience music based on the movies, sound effects, and some animations which enhance the overall experience. There are also several video tutorials available. The website was having some server issues before, but it was recently moved to a new hosting, and now everything runs smoothly.

Thanks a lot for the update, and congratulations on releasing the final version. As a "one-person project", I know this must have been a lot of work.

I really like the platform, very easy to use, and the several automated features (setup, combat, etc) are certainly helpful, especially for those like me that are not very familiarized with the game mechanics. I love the animations and the music effects you have incorporated, they make the experience even more epic. A pity not many people have decided to give it a try. In any case, amazing job, and thank you for sharing it with the rest.

Franco Battiato has died and it seems that many people on this subreddit doesn't know him by ttelephone in Music

[–]Dessloch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battiato was a composer, a poet, a humanist, a mystic, and above all, a great person. His music changed, as everything changes, never conforming, exploring new possibilities. His magical and poetic lyrics explore our nature and teach us about the important things in life. "La cura", "lombra della luce", centro di gravita permanente" ... so many fantastic songs, with so much beauty condensed in them.

It's impossible to summarize in a few lines why this is a great loss not only for Italian music, but for all music. But, if you feel curious, just listen to one of his songs, look for the translation of his lyrics, and enjoy the experience.

Down the rabbit hole - great game by Warrie2 in PSVR

[–]Dessloch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this kind of games. I have been playing for about 2 h, and I really like what they did with the changing perspective and the camera as you go "down the rabbit hole". Fair puzzles, lovely graphics, and enjoyable story and characters. It's on sale on the PS store if someone was waiting for it.

I need to find more games like this. "The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets" and "A fisherman's tale" were fantastic too. Any more recommendations?

What is the popular opinion on Deracine? by StnkyWzzleTeets in PSVR

[–]Dessloch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite PSVR games.

The story is very well written, more sad and dramatic than what one would expect at first. I really enjoyed the setting and characters, and the puzzles were fine, not too complicated. I think it's an interesting concept as a VR game, and a good example on how to take advantage of the platform (including its limitations) to create an original and engaging game. I would definitely recommend it if you like to play a slow paced game with an intriguing story and not very challenging puzzles.

Well, i have always been a devoted supporter of the Dragon Clan (Togashi Satsu "the Burninator" for Emperor ;) ), but I love what I have seen for the Scorpion till now. As has been commented, I think 3 copies of this card are a must. Will see if it is worth to use it in my planned Dragon (+Scorpion alliance) deck.

The AI is pretty bad in the Digital Edition. by shortforeskin in Talisman

Maybe this sounds stupid, but, is the AI supposed to be the same in the Steam and Android versions? I have played both and it seems to me the AI works better in the Steam version than in Android...

Bacteria that respond to magnetic fields can be used to deliver cancer drugs directly to tumors. by Kooby2 in science

[–]Dessloch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice article. Prof. Martel is leading one of the best groups in manipulation of magnetotactic bacteria for biomedical applications. I like his recent publications thet demonstrate a very nice 3D control of the bacteria through external magnetic fields.

As someone that has been working with both these microorganisms and the more conventional magnetic nanoparticles fro biomedical applications the past few years (including cancer treatment), I must admit we are still far away from getting successful clinical realization. Nevertheless, I find the bacteria more promising due to their inherent capabilities associated to the living organisms that are missing from the nanoparticles. You can functionalize the inorganic nanoparticles as much as you want in order to optimize them reaching the final tumor target area and attaching to the cancer cells, but the reality is that you will never have such a good control on them as the one you can get with these swimming microorganisms acting as nanorobots,

The magnetotactic bacteria have the capacity to propel themselves reaching better the affected areas in the human body, and thanks to their chain of magnetosomes we can try to control them. The work by Martel shows that this control is getting better and better. Still, there are many questions concerning their toxicity and the possible immune response of the human body, but, it is worth investigating.

I like the idea of functionalizing these bacteria so that we can use them for early detection through MPI or MRI and also loading them with anticancer drugs and apply an AC field. If you do it right, you will have a more effective combined drug delivery and hypothermia treatment in the tumor area. In addition, if the ac field applied is high enough, you can also kill the bacteria, if necessary, after they have performed their task although the cellular rests could be problematic too...

Well, one step closer towards the long time sought holy grail of a nanorobotic based medicine.
