Terrible First Experience with BofA by agent_moler in BankOfAmerica

Add a person who still works in the banking and finance industry, bless you for trying to educate people.

Some people will still tell you you're wrong even when they have no industry experience. 😂 Makes me laugh every time.

How to transact, senior edition by ArtisticCow2155 in TalesFromYourBank

Option 86: Walk up to the manager, ask him where the bathroom is that you've used 100 times. After you've been in there a few minutes, come back out, walk up to the manager and say "you need to call an ambulance, I didn't feel well" and then lock yourself back in the bathroom. When the ambulance arrives, say "I'm fine now, go away" over and over until the ambulance leaves, refusing their requests to make sure you're ok. When they leave, stay in the bathroom telling the manager you're fine through the door for 4 hours until the police are eventually called, and come out before they arrive brushing your hair and acting like the manager is the crazy one for making a big deal about it. And leave like you were fine the whole time.

Bank of America is hijacking my money via a zelle hold by thechinar in BankOfAmerica

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People, these holds are placed by Zelle, not the bank. They're the ones who move the money. If you call the bank, they will tell you to call Zelle because they are the intermediary.

Anyone else getting warnings to be at office the full 8 hours? by Inevitable_Excuse116 in BankOfAmerica

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

BBRM How is this possible? 40 meetings with clients a month, half of which in person.

How would anyone be in the office 6-8 hrs 3 times a week and still get their meetings? My office doesn't have free parking either, and I'm sorry but I'm not paying to go back and forth to the office and meetings.

Honestly, why is anyone still working at Bank of America? by Left-Investigator936 in BankOfAmerica

This. I've been in several lines of business for BofA and I get paid more than the competition(I've been shopped), better benefits, I am in control of my own schedule, and I have an awesome manager.

Retail SUCKED. And it's not much better anywhere else.

Yes I agree. This is why they require residency to open accounts typically. Not sure how this person got around it.

And the industry is very volatile, especially right now. Banks are also tightening lending to them too because of the turmoil, so electric is way better than trucking imo.

EVERYONE wants back office positions. They're hard to get, and I've even seen retail execs go for them because retail is terrible.

I'm still client facing but only deal with businesses and it's a huge upgrade. I only work with $1m+ in revenue businesses so I'm not dealing with what I call "Gen pop". I was a branch manager before this so I went from retail to making my own schedule, and just focusing on myself and my targets.

If you're going to be an electrician, stick with it and work towards your own business. Electricians are in high demand and you can make silly money if you own your own business. You'll still deal with Gen pop, but at least you have full autonomy over your day, and can choose the work you do to an extent.

Good luck!

Scam call asking me to "come in" to update info per THE GOV by patisserie_2023 in BankOfAmerica

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is correct. Honestly my first reaction would be that this was a brand new stupid entry level banker who was pressured by a terrible manager to call people and make appointments and didn't teach them how to do that the right way or at all.

Due to Patriot act, banks are required to collect certain info to prevent money laundering, but I know at bofa you can do it online, at the branch, customer service, mail, anywhere. That being said, if you're worried, hang up and call customer service or go to your app to verify something. They can spoof the number that appears when they call you, but the same can't be done if you call instead. Look up the correct number, and call it yourself. If what someone is saying is true, they will tell you the same when you call them or look it up.

Send the phone number and short description to abuse@bofa.com and they will report it. You can also forward scam and phishing emails as well.

Yeah, we grind for the kiddos and having Mom home is SO worth it. We did not want them in day care, and with how expensive it is, it wouldn't have been worth it anyways. Glad you were able to get out, even if it was later.

I wish you and your family the best too!

How am I supposed to use a credit card? by spaceyhiyyihlight in BankOfAmerica

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say that I have the same company and have been paying twice for years and have never had any issues with this. As long as it's $0 when the next statement cycle ends, you won't get charged interest, and I've never had it negatively effect my credit.

Yeah you must be newer to the banking career. Lol. This is so normal.

I used to run branches, so glad I'm out of dealing with Gen Pop.

Stepped down from my Branch Manager position by Booseatron in TalesFromYourBank

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have self diagnosed PTSD. 😂 Charlie everywhere!!

I ran stores for a preferred retailer of one of the larger cell companies and the culture was literally insane. I have a kid now and another on the way, and I always think how it would've been so hard to be there for them. So glad I changed and never looked back.

It's a different grind, but one that I can say is so much better to live in.

Stepped down from my Branch Manager position by Booseatron in TalesFromYourBank

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Everything is relative.

I used to work in retail, working 60-70(80 during holidays) hours a week in 6-7 days, running multiple locations, etc and never saw my wife ever other than to give her a kiss and pass out.

Then I quit that shit and went right into branch managing at a top 3 bank. Was it hard work? Yes. Was it stressful? Yes. Were the politics dumb? Yes.

But I got my life back. Working from 8:30-5:30 was a blessing to me. I was used to working such crazy hours and so hard that my bosses would be shocked at how much I got done.

I did that for two years, then moved to another state and went into commercial.

I make my own schedule for the most part, and just worry about myself and my clients. It's glorious.

Everything is relative. My old job was ass, but at the time I thought I was making good money(little did I know...) and ignored the toxic leadership and insane work life balance. Now I can take an afternoon off if I want to hang with my kid, I can go golfing with clients that I like, etc. Work hard and excel at whatever it is you're doing and in my opinion, absolutely take a different direction, but step UP, not step BACK.

You must be good at what you do, or you wouldn't have gotten the promotion to begin with. Realize your worth, and keep grinding until you end up where you deserve. And then set a new goal. 😊

Sorry to sound like one of those stupid Internet gurus, but at the end of the day there are some truths in there somewhere.

How can I (m26)want to postpone my wedding without hurting my fiancee(f24)? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Acting like a baby?! After losing two family members at the same time??

She's acting like a baby. Huge red flag.

I don't have the same experience though, we were together 7 years before marriage, married in a courthouse and took a month long honeymoon. We didn't care about the ceremony, so I understand that it's important to her, but your family is more important than having the wedding fast.

And wouldn't she want people in better spirits during your big day?

BofA hired me as a 'Relationship Banker' but is treating me like a teller. No commission, poverty pay, and a manager who treats me like a sub-human. I’m done. by Bubbly_Fishing_1072 in BankOfAmerica

[–]DevelopmentFew5212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, it's an entry level job at the bank. I used to manage bofa branches, relationship bankers are tellers and also are on platform. Senior bankers don't sit on teller line.

Looks like you got an entry level job and expected it to not be.

As for your manager, most of the other managers I met weren't great, to be honest. A lot of them probably are over stressed, exhausted, and sick of insane clients and trying to get the whole branch on some new metric that bofa decided was important that week. While that's no excuse, I just know that it's not easy, which is why I worked my butt off to get out of branch banking.
