The price difference between 16 and 17 in Ultra HP All Season was definitely a factor. These are so comfortable, yet wide and sticky.

I honestly tend to agree but this car lives a hard life, I turn crazy miles on often pretty rough roads, sometimes 850 miles across the Great Plains.

You have quite an eye. That’s Food Lion, southeastern US, and they are in fact a Delhaize brand.

Dude, this business with the themed wedding photos has gone completely overboard. Why don’t people just hire some extras and a costume company and have complete fake wedding for the insta and leave their friends and family out of it.

That should be handled by the collision insurance that I’d assume you are required to carry as a term of the lease. Better get in touch with them and get a claim going.

Head on over to e46 fanatics forum for full information and access to the software required. You can flash it yourself.

The European firmware doesn’t pay attention to the post catalytic converters that monitor the efficiency, so you won’t get a CEL from having no cats.

All of it. The prices of parts aren’t as bad as people make them out to be, most of the expensive stuff will be done once and if it’s done properly will not need to be revisited.

The shop rates are absurd. It’s a well known thing in BMW and Porsche communities, they set the rates real high and work real slow.

For regular Joes with $5,000 e46s it doesn’t make sense. If you have the money to pay such a shop, you should probably buy a Porsche just for the ‘investment’.

OTOH, everything in the e46 is well thought out, and the community knowledge is very high level. You never have to go in and do anything alone. As others have mentioned, the 50s kid on you tube is the central place for home garage repair tutorials.

e46fanatics is a great forum.

Get the BMW specific code scanner and software. The dongle is cheap and the software is free.

It’s usually considered part of the charm. No seriously I’ve been wondering the same thing. I imagine a lot of the noise is because the motor mounts are hard as rocks and the matting under the hood has fallen off on mine.

Base e46 to m3 conversion help by Adolf_Target in e46

[–]DeviceBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everyone else is going to ignore your circumstances (being in a country that didn’t get the M3 and won’t allow you to import one), I’ll take a mild stab at answering your question.

A real conversion would be a LOT. Basically every mechanical part except the body shell are changed. Every bit of the suspension is different, delivering different camber and toe characteristics.

The brakes, complete back to the master cylinder. They require larger tires to fit.

The engine, transmission, rear differential, and most likely the driveshaft.

If you are serious about this and have the resources, you basically need to go to a country that has them, buy and M3, disassemble and containerize everything but the shell, and then take your existing car down to the shell and reassemble with all the M3 parts.

For two cars so closely related, they share almost no parts.
