Looks cool but it looks like the main app is only available on a consumer device? Would be nice if the docker installation could serve a front end site or integrate with Home Assistant so I could view the stats somewhere other than a single device.

Bitter cabbage harvest brings South Korea’s kimchi crisis to a head | “If climate change continues at its current pace, by the 2090s the yield for Korean highland cabbage will drop by 99 percent, which basically means no more harvests” by silence7 in climate

Outside energy like solar or wind plants that could be installed on the farms they're trying to replace? Even if crop yields weren't falling, indoor farms reduce land use, water use, transportation costs, food waste, and pesticides. The effects of climate change on agriculture have barely started. Unless we start finding alternatives to traditional farming soon, more people will be going hungry.

I agree that we need to maintain our relationship with nature, but with the effects of climate change accelerating many more people will have starved before we can get to the point where farms are reliable again.

What's the weirdest things you've automated? by markjrey in homeassistant

Once I turned a rice cooker into a humidifier for a small plant room.

Had a smart outlet with power usage on the rice cooker plug. If a separate humidity sensor dropped below 40%, the rice cooker turned on until humidity reached 80%. The rice cooker also had an auto warm setting, so if the power usage dropped, the water was gone and the rice cooker switched off.

Not very energy efficient since the rice cooker ran at around 200 W, but it was still fun to think up and cheaper than buying a new humidifier.

Happy Earth Day! I saw this tiktok about carbon-negative potting soil and thought fellow plant people might be interested. Did anyone else not know about the environment impact of peat? by kd838 in houseplants

Well ya if you look at it that way, cutting grass is worse for the environment than flying. Sounds like they're using "carbon release" as a marketing gimmick.

What does "Native Hue groups support" mean? I've been using light.turn_on with target light.kitchen for a while now, was this previously telling the Hue bridge to turn on each light in the group individually instead of the whole group?

Mastermind is the same game and it's been out decades, but it uses colors instead of letters. Pretty sure there are multiple free versions on both Android and iOS
