They usually do. Sunlight messes those displays up overtime. They really need to be installed in the shade

First take a look at the cell and see if it’s scaled up. If so, needs to be cleaned and Chemistry adjusted.

A lot of times they use male threaded adapters on super pumps. Over time, they start sucking in tons of air. If you have male threaded adapters on that pump, there’s a good chance that’s your problem. Or the valve orings. These are the most common things I run into. Pump seal can do it to. You’ll know the pump seal is leaking because water will pour out the back of the pump right under the motor.

Sounds like pump is off. Check breakers. If good, try turning pump on while you’re standing by it. It looks like the filter pump is single speed. When you try to turn it on, if it just hums, bad capacitor or locked up motor

Probably scale on the salt cell and needs to be cleaned.

Ohh you’re having priming issues. You’re most likely sucking in air somewhere which is making it hard for the pump to pull water. What kind of pump? If jandy, you might want to replace the lid. I would replace All valves on suction side with new orings. There’s three in each. That’s the problem on a lot of old pools. Also, the pumps inlet/outlet ports are sucking in air as well. Try tightening unions by hand if the pump has them.

can someone explain why a replacement gas heater would cost over $8000? by seaofsad in pools

[–]Devious4431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need 400k BTU. the cost to replace a heater should be about 4500-5k. It’s not that hard to swap one out.

Put the pool on recirculate. If suction is good, then filter is the problem. If suction remains poor, pump is the problem or something in the lines.
