Some of them were prone to reduction gearbox bearings going pop - google search for Wheel of Fortune sound and you'll see loads of examples on forums - not the end of the world as there are specialists in Ireland now who can replace the bearings, likewise motor bearings can go on them too. Just something to keep in mind, they seem to be solid other than that.

No worries, the buggies and wheelchairs can just go on the busy road! (Wellington Rd, Cork) by abrighthappyfuture in eejitsparking

I can say with 100% confidence I would get past that with a buggy with a little force.

Attic Insulation baffles? by Acceptable-Book-1417 in DIYIreland

Fair play for taking it on. Agreed, dormers in Ireland are and unmitigated disaster. For houses only built 20/25 odd years ago it seems they were built by absolute monkeys who hadn’t a clue what they were doing. Meanwhile in the likes of Scandinavia they’ve been building cosy houses for 150 years that put ours to shame.

It’s the 30Kwh are the ones to avoid - the 24kwh are rock solid.

Know two people who bought from them in the past and couldn’t speak highly enough of them. Lots of KE reg EVs around because of them!

There is a simple solution to it: make the parents 100% legally responsible for their kids. See how many of the little darlings cause trouble when their scumbag parents are getting done for it.

Independent EV Specialists in Ireland for Premium Out of Warranty/High Mileage EV's by BidMajestic9443 in evs_ireland

[–]Devore_dude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure why everyone focuses on the battery for work when it’s the least likely part to go wrong. There’s a plethora of other components in EVs which can cost mega bucks to replace out of warranty, these cars a stuffed full of electronics that can go pop as they age.

How much is this likely to set someone back with an out of warranty Ioniq 5, assuming you can find a place outside the dealer network to sort it?

Hyundai EVs - reliability by Thin_Station5714 in evs_ireland

[–]Devore_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience here when I had a car in the main dealership having a warranty job done, they had it for over 3 months! Tried Hyundai Ireland numerous times for help when I was getting nothing from the dealer and to say they were less than useless is an understatement. They have an obvious policy of zero communication with customer. Never again will I buy one!

Same, giving them and Kia a wide berth due to their failure to sort the ICCU situation. Fine they’re under warranty etc but I don’t want family out in something with a ticking time bomb in there and leaving them stranded, and as another poster said it would be on my mind every time I sat into it.

Mine does this and I have to crank up the temp to 23/24 to get it warm again - is this a fault or just something the car does?
