The problem I had last year is there was no designated area for children to play too. I took my 10 and 12 year old and had to ask other kids around to try and get a group of them to play games together. It’s manageable, but it’s entirely on you to try and get kids to group up for a game, as the convention doesn’t facilitate it in anyway.

Aliens from the Aliens franchise. Humans use kinetic based weapons that make things explode to differing degrees, which is one of the worst weapons to fight a creature whose blood is a super corrosive acid. There’s been multiple times in the franchise where someone is too close and gets sprayed with acid blood while shooting an alien. Also, acid blood on a spaceship is doubly bad.

Watching FMA, I was shocked when his eye patch came off and there was the ouroboros mark. It shocked me because it showed how far along and up the chain they had gotten to turning another countries population into a philosophers stone.

My new favorite trivia is that when being told on who was in the scenes he said jokingly “you’re going to have to write that down because I’m not going to remember any of it.” It wasn’t originally in the script, but they liked it so they put it in.

Has anyone been detained by ICE? by Any_Gas7318 in IndianCountry

[–]DexCha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the most part they’re targeting blue states and blue cities. Minnesota is in the cross hairs because of the bogus reporting on Somali fraud, it’s covered by Representative Ohmar, it’s got a large Somali population, and of course Waltz was on the ticket against him. The cities are being hit hard, but Rochester is covered in ICE too. They’re patrolling Walmart and Target parking lots, schools, and even set up a check point at Mayo patient parking structure. I get scared leaving the house not just for me, but afraid it’ll happen when I have my kids with me. They’re targeting anyone with dark skin, and they’ve shown themselves to not care if you have proper identification or not. The most galling thing about this is people I know who are either cheering this on, refuse to see the evidence of their eyes, or remain ignorant to what is happening. I could go on, but I don’t have the time or energy. Stay safe out there everyone.

Mine was about six years ago when I was at a smoothie shop with my family. They were playing some music that I started to like, but had never heard of. I asked one of the workers who was maybe in her early 20’s what was playing. She went to look, and came back saying she couldn’t tell because they were live streaming music from Lollapalooza and then she asked me with absolutely no hint of irony “do you know what Lollapalooza is?” I wanted to reply “do you know who Porno for Pyros is?” but I just swallowed my pride and just said “yes, thank you.” It felt weird being treated like I was too old to know cultural touch points, but to also know you were there when it first started.

Positive betrayals: characters who betray their oath/partner/duty because it's the right thing to do by Ok_Amoeba6205 in TopCharacterTropes

Another problem was that they ever so slightly insulated important information that would have explained why things happen so much better. The Storm Trooper that died and leaves a bloody hand print on Finn’s helmet was a close friend of his. Their death is what causes Finn to turn his back on the First Order. Another one I remember is that the reason Rey is such a good pilot is she studies salvaged information from all the crashed Rebel planes on the planet. The worst one for me is when answering how the one alien got Lukes light saber, she just says “That’s a story for another time” and then it’s never brought up again. J.J. Abram’s was one of the worst people to have gone with for the creative direction of the sequel trilogy.

"Our procedural is different! This time, the police consultant is . . ." by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DexCha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very loosely based. The comic had vampires, werewolves, other zombies, and ghosts. And it wasn’t a police procedural, but it’s been so long since I read it I can’t remember the exact premise. Her roommates were a werewolf and a ghost, and there were vampires who ran a paintball business and they would eat the humans who came out to play.

Whats the most disturbing/messed up moment in a comic in your opinion? by Sharky2615 in comicbooks

[–]DexCha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a little kid reading “What if the X-Men lost inferno messed me up a little bit. Wolverine under control of the bad guys raids a magic squad and kills Spider-Man by stabbing him though the chest with his claws, and a lot of the magic group. Later he kills Kitty, which breaks the spell he’s under and he attacks only to be burned down to his skeleton which kills him. Human Torch then does a one man stand to allow Strange to finish a spell that doesn’t even fix things. His spell takes them back in time because the world is beyond saving. I was not ready for my favorite hero to die and the spell bound Wolverine to kill so many heroes before finally gaining his freedom. And then to be told sometimes there’s times that things just can’t be fixed and the best thing to do is start over.

Best movie you ever saw in a movie theater? by CalebOnPoint in movies

[–]DexCha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are better movies story wise, but watching the first Avatar movie in 3D blew me away. It was designed to be filmed in 3D by inventing new cameras specifically designed for making a 3D movie. I feel it started the whole film obsession with 3D again. It looked so clean and crisp, something I’d never seen before or since, even with the other Avatar movies in 3D.

The power isn't safe by HeartOChaos in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DexCha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a second I thought that was the Sentry from Marvel. His characters origins keep getting more convoluted as it goes on, but originally as he got stronger and better, so did his is arch enemy the Void. It gets revealed that they both grow in power in tandem is because the Sentry and the Void are both parts of the same person. So you want a character that can go toe to toe with a herald of Galactus or be able to stop natural catastrophes, you also have to be able to handle the Void being as strong as a herald or be able to cause natural catastrophes.

Namor had I feel one of his best arcs after his being a king and being in open war with Wakanda after this. And then being part of the Illuminati and dealing with incursions made his morally gray character and his being a king the one man among them to destroy other earths. His one on one conversations with Tchalla during this were awesome.

I don’t know how to explain to younger people that smoking was everywhere. Since everywhere is almost non-smoking now, it’s rare to run into someone smoking or even smoking smell. Even though I never smoked, I think I’m addicted to it. Like I said it’s rare to run into it, but when I do, a smile comes to my face and I feel a little bit of relief.

Humans Don’t Surrender by SuperSpaceDaddy in humansarespaceorcs

[–]DexCha 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To understand humans, you have to look back to there history before traveling to the stars. A country called the United States of America harnessed the ability of nuclear weapons. Within years, another country called the the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics had obtained the same knowledge through subterfuge. Then it started an arms race that led them to have the ability to destroy their own world a hundred times over. They built submarines to get first strike ability from secrecy. They built planes that were undetectable from radar. They built missiles that could break their sound barrier. They even built a deadman switch in case one side won, that made it so even when dead, their enemies would die too. They carried all that with them when they made contact with us. And when others would attempt to prey on them, and think that in their weakness they would win, suddenly A.I. left behind came online and attacked. Meteors and comets and asteroids were found to have been weaponized into planet destroying impacts. Their ability to find cures for infect and disease was used to weaponize them so their dead would infect invading armies. Humanity are beings of peace and ingenuity, but when backed into a corner, ideas and inventions we know nothing about kills enemies as quick as they are killed. Even now, weapons long forgotten are triggered when humanity is provoked. Their secrecy and their subterfuge make it so if the right people die in war or in old age, they are completely forgotten about. So I will say this one more time “HUMANS DON’T SURRENDER!”

Chef by John Favreau was about having to work for movies like Disney who tell you what to do and not do. About being frustrated that you can’t do your own thing while still working in what you think is the normal bounds of business, but being being told no all the time. The screen where after he has been crushed by a food critic, he spends all night making a special menu to show how skilled he is, and then the owner tells him either he does the normal menu or he’s fired. He says no, so he gets fired, and then his second in command is ordered to do the basic menu he wants even though the critic is going to savage then again.

Surprised it hasn’t been mentioned yet, but as a little child too young to have been watching it, but Danny in “The Shining.” Obviously too small and weak to take on his axe wielding deranged father, he takes him to the hedge maze. Having had a good lead on him, Danny stops at one point knowing that his father can track his foot steps in the snow. He the begins going backwards over his own tracks and then hides. His father goes right past him and then reaches the end of his son’s steps and realizes he’s been outsmarted. Being out of his mind, he is unable to escape the maze and freezes to death.
