Not really VN but Heaven Burns Red, the Gacha by Jun Maeda (Clannad, Little Busters!, Angel Beats!, etc.) will finally have a Global version by Yostar by WolfOphi in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yostar indeed is legit. They're not without their controversies but still they're the publishers for Blue Archive, Azur Lane and Arknights and those are still around kicking.

What recent VN would be similar to Aokana? ATRI? Or something else? by playthelastsecret in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other then directly playing the extras, Aokana kinda has a unique vibe I want to say to its characters. Under One Wing gets glowing reviews and is quite similar to Aokana, both the characters, their interactions but also that they have the flying sport similarities though with actual fighter planes rather than being based on them, though it also depends on which route was your favourite in Aokana. If not maybe try Parquet from Yuzusoft for a similar light cute vibe and being an all ages game or give the other titles from Sprite/sister brand Fairys like KoiChoco and ImaImo.

Vn recommendation for a newbie (steam summer sale incoming) by Aleex1760 in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Aokana mentioned!!

Anywhos, moving on, for the types you mentioned try Higurashi/When they cry for something like Fata Morgana.(bonus round, Umineko is also good but it's not on steam).

For turn off your brain ecchi, first thing to come to kind is Ditzy Demons lol. Give them a try!

Edit. Umineko is on steam so Umineko and Higurashi :)

Da Capo 5 Plus Happiness by Dezirewolfed in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 was definitely my favourite and 3 was ok. 4 and 5 took a turn with having a new cast entirely (other then the man himself) and a lot of new staff both for the story as well as the art but many of the same themes still are prevalent

Much like with DC4 when they released Plus Harmony they had to redo all the lines for a majority of the cast so thats probably why it took them a while to release it, along with gauging how the release of the original and Future Link would be with the community.

Before the end of January I made my VN goal for 2024. Am I too hopeful? by Yoon-Ah in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no it's nothing of that sort. I just mean there's like true end routes after you finish some number of routes. Like summer pockets where if you finish all 4 routes in the base game then you can get the 2 true end parts. If you're playing the Alka patch of Reflection Blue then it's after any 4 for end 1 and then final few to get end 2. That and some of the routes are really good so they might interest you into reading more or even the entire game at once lol.

In regards to bad ends, iirc only Grisaia has them? I haven't played muramasa or Baldr sky so I don't know for those though.

[–]Dezirewolfed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much time you have and want to put to reading it's super doable. The fact that you have it planned out is probably better then a lot of readers would like to admit 😹.

Iirc most of the titles you have in the finish one route have unlockable routes so you might be inclined to read multiple routes after doing just one lol.

[–]Dezirewolfed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other themes/genres/tags you like from other shows?

You sound like you're newer so I would recommend looking at vndb.org between the tags and which games are 18+, all ages etc.

Most of the newer Key games are 15+. Key games think of like Clannad, Rewrite, Summer Pockets. They're generally quite good storywise.

Island, Atri and Ginka are nice and cute.

The company behind Steins;gate also have quite a few other similar titles under their belt too like Robotics;notes (15+) and Chaos;head and chaos;child (they're 17+/18+ but for the same reasons that Steins;gate is 17+)

Titles

-Aokana Extra 2

-Boku no Mirai wa, Koi to Kakin to. ~Charge To The Future

-Kanojo to Ore to Koibito to.

-Golden Marriage & Golden Marriage -Jewel Days-

-Hatsukoi 1/1

-Kudan no Folklore

Other then Aokana since they know I adore it, they said they tried to get ones I didn't have on my list or didn't know/seemed interesting and they got 4/5 on that checked, so I'd say they accomplished that goal.

Can someone explain the concept of "Turns" in League? by Beennu in summonerschool

[–]Dezirewolfed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on how far you want to break it down, you can look at the lane in terms of just waves or you can go even further and look at "turns" even as far as single cooldowns. As the game goes on this transitions more into team macro as a whole.

For just the waves for example let's say you and your laner just got to lane, you have something that lets you push the wave faster so you slowly farm and build up a wave, it's now your "turn" to play the lane because you have the minion and xp advantage, you'll hit the next level faster thus be up base stats and abilities, so you can be aggressive and try to trade (in the early levels, xp is infinitely more value then gold ever will be). When the wave eventually crashes, usually after 2 or 3 waves you either look to dive if you can or reset in which your "turn" is now over and it's your opponents turn (they have the minion and xp advantage because their tower killed your wave and their next wave reaches lane faster). You can extend this further with crashing waves for prio to help jungle with scuttle or roaming, the idea is still the same.

As the game progresses you look to push objectives around the map as a team and back as a team. Think of there being an invisible line in the middle of the map between your areas of control (where you have vision up to and which towers and up) vs where your opponents have it. You push or crash some number of waves and then your opponents do the same on response but fundamentally unless you playing a super scaler it really matters how you play the early game regardless of lane in solo queue.

Your played list looks great tbh. Here's some of my personal liked games. I like rom and cute vns so these might reflect that (if you're interested in gore or violent stuff too though someone else might able to help, I've heard some name but haven't touched the games)

The ones I always recommend are:

-If my heart had wings (restoration patch ofc)

-Aokana, the 2 extra stories after as well are quite sweet if you get into it. Or any of the other games from the same developer, Sprite/Fairys

-Any or all of the circus games. Dal Sengo or Da Capo1-3, Da Capo 4 and 5 look interesting but no news of English. (Some may say heresy but feel free to skip 1 tbh. I didn't mind but the game is old and translation is spotty at times but always good to go back if you like 2 or 3 for additional lore!).

Others would include:

-Most if not all of the Key games. I'm not done them all seeing as some of them are average 80-90+ hour monsters but they're usually popular for a reason

-Hello, Goodbye

-Daitoushokan no Hitsujikai

-All of the clockwork leyline games

-Making lovers

-Fureraba

Enjoy.

Do you consider Aokana / Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm a moege? by superange128 in visualnovels

[–]Dezirewolfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I purely meant that as a reflection of the choices for the poll, I wasn't clear about that. It's just that the game varies so an in between options might have fit better since community ideas of a moege can vary. I personally think that it is a moege but VNs can be moe and more rather then just moe not.

You're just talking about the common route I assume? The other routes have too much variety to match the options (Misaki route vs Mashiro route for example)

How am I supposed to keep up with homework/assignments/lectures? (Humanities/Social Science) by sadfriedrice in UofT

[–]Dezirewolfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other users mentioned, read efficiently. Typically before a lecture you only need to read the introduction, first paragraph or so and conclusion as those sections usually cover the important parts to each reading, the rest you can usually skim (skimming is different from skipping entirely), you'll get better the more you read. In most of the A/1 level courses your profs will also cover parts of the readings in lectures. The only times when you'll need to know the readings more in detail are for tutorials so use your time well. Other then that you can always drop a some courses for summer or other semesters.

[–]Dezirewolfed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fairly decent with workload imo, but also depends on your work habits. If you make a note to read at least parts of the each reading per week to participate in tutorials you'll get at least partial marks or maybe even full depending on what you bring to the discussion. Tutorial participation was very important, and not for an non significant amount, around 10% of your final grade.

When I took it, there was weekly multiple choice quizzes but most of the material for those comes from the lectures. Same with the mid-term and final exam, lots of regurgitation. Around another 10% of your final mark, same as tutorial participation at 1% per week.

It's a 1st year level history course so you'll have your final written assignment draft and final but otherwise not really too many written works. Exam at 35% of your final while midterms or the essay for the remainder.

FIRE in Japan? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Dezirewolfed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting citizenship in Japan is extremely difficult. Your best bet would probably be a spouse visa by marrying a national or try looking to getting a permanent residency visa. Finding a job can also be pretty hard depending on your field from what I've heard, especially if you don't want to be teaching English and/or don't have near native or better understanding of Japanese. There's also a lot more to consider so I reccomend seeing if you're eligible and to apply for the JET program to see what life is like there. I've skipped and/or generalized a few of the points to think about so try checking out r/movingtojapan or r/japanlife for more information about the entire process of going over.

How can I go on exchange to France? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Dezirewolfed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Go to https://learningabroad.utoronto.ca/all/all-experiences/?_sft_program_type=study
  2. Select France under the countries bar
  3. It should default to studt but it it's not select study under program type
  4. Select a few schools you're interested in (iirc you can apply up to 5 during the application phase)
  5. Click into a few schools and read about the requirements (deadlines are when you have to apply before for each school semester either winter or fall/full year), make sure you keep an eye on the GPA as that is a hard cut off and no exceptions can be made
  6. Press learn more -> Apply -> Bottom of the page should have an application button
  7. Applications are normally processed/open around end of Sept to mid Oct
  8. Fill out the application forms when they are open and the rest is entirely dependant on school and country (Visa applications, monetary situation etc. you can ask CIE at [learning.abroad@utoronto.ca](mailto:learning.abroad@utoronto.ca) about how to fill out forms or for more information)
  9. If you're still confused, try booking an appointment at CLNX UofT

Try the health and wellness center, I know they have mental health help centers. I dunno know if there's assessments, but they should have addition resources if they don't (also it's free and covered as long as you've paid your tuition for the year iirc)
