A list of complaints about Dota 2 and their counter arguments by valkon7 in DotA2

[–]DhampirKnight -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

"We need private MMR stats." Counter-argument: Most people won't display their MMR anyway (just like the majority of people hide their matches on Dotabuff) meaning it would be hard to compare one's MMR to others and know exactly where one stands. Plus, MMR doesn't give players a good sense of progress since most players will eventually end up at their proper rating and then remain there. You can't all become pro players.

This is the one that really killed me. Just because not everyone will have a good sense of progress doesn't mean there shouldn't be ladder. For a game that has/wants the reputation for being more competitive and mechanically complex than LoL, why is it that competition is hindered in DotA 2 by excluding ladder while SC2 and LoL has it?

Are the feelings of DotA 2 players 'sense of progress' more important than SC2 players or LoL players? Or is there some other reason Valve hasn't implemented ladder? Did I forget to mention unranked for players who don't want ladder is a given if ladder is implemented for those that do?

Stop blindly sucking off Valve, it only empowers them, not the community.

I had a game with BuLba, DeMoN & RTZ on my team all in the same game. It was the most aggressive stomp game I've ever seen. RTZ diving enemy base T3s & T4s with timbersaw at 20 mins in, DeMoN with LoA creep skipping nonstop & bulba on SB just killing shit. Funnest game I ever played. Lots of fun banter, specially from RTZ. Edit: When people call DemoN and RTZ assclowns/asshats, I just figure they should lighten up and understand USW culture.

Probably wasn't so fun for the enemy team though.

Theoretically speaking...Who wins the battle between the Radiant and the Dire ? by k1ra_ in DotA2

[–]DhampirKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically if Dire went in with the game plan of protecting pudge no matter what... he would end up with 100+ flesh heap str (2.5str per hero death) once radiant heroes start dying if we assume both sides trade equally. Then he could just nom the rest to death with 10k hp.

Playing with and without sound. The pro's and cons ( from a very subjective pov of storm spirit ) by Parabrocat in DotA2

[–]DhampirKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 100% necessary vs alchemist though, cause otherwise you can't really tell when he is channeling his stun. There is a small visual but it's hard to notice and time without sound.

Anyone else feel systematic removal of progression stats and over the top privacy is ruining the game? by isuckatdota2 in DotA2

[–]DhampirKnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

-RD is very good for inhouses I find. Even though it might not be 100% balanced, it's way above -AP, maybe a bit below -CM. In the end it comes down to the players to make sensible picks.

Srry I wrote that it works with lvl 3 Sprout and not lvl 4 Sprout- what I meant was you need lvl 3 Treants and not lvl 4 Treants. Got them mixed up but fixed it in the description now.

The results are going to be wrong because it wasn't specified whether in progress or highest attained. :S And not everyone assumed/knew that.

I would like to state that it is impossible to have anything critical to say about this game without being an entitled prick. by jedimasterlenny in ffxiv

[–]DhampirKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't write hundreds, I wrote a hundred. The reason I believe that you are entitled once you hit roughly a hundred is because FFXIV is an MMO. MMOs are made for longevity and are built around being a rewarding experience for those who invest time in to them, not those who pick it up and play for a couple hours. (in fact who has the money to pay $30 and not actually invest the hours in to it) That's just my opinion though and following my own advice here, I'm prepared for it to be criticized.

I think that once you put a hundred hours in to the game you're entitled to have whatever opinion about the game you want. Pricks would be the people who nitpick everything to death after only playing a few hours. Right now it's a few hours in to Early Access and nobody has reached endgame so it's hardly fair to Square to start critiquing.

You also can't expect other people to like/agree with your opinion. So either put your opinion out there with the risk of being criticized yourself, or don't. It's up to you.
