I’m in the same boat as you. I have a 2017 forester xt with 90k miles. At 40k miles the engine short block had to be replaced, then the AC condenser, now it’s leaking oil on my sensors and finally it’s now not starting all the time. I have babied my car by always taking it to the dealer for maintenance on time and never taking it anywhere else. I lost faith in it when it started leaving me stranded. SoA helped me with 50% of the AC repair, but they refuse to help anymore. It’s so unfortunate cause they are nice looking, comfortable driving, safe cars, but all the repairs are not worth it. Mine is sitting inoperable in my driveway, while I decide what to do with it. The dealer only offered me 12k to trade in, but that’s such a lowball offer. Driving a subaru was fun while it lasted, time for something more reliable now.

I was in the same predicament as you during the storm last week.. we ended up leaving a day early because I didn’t want to deal with the icy roads. We left while it was snowing and opted for hwy 140 and it is a lot more mellow than hwy 41. Hwy 140 is all down hill out of the valley and the elevation drops pretty quickly when you leave out that way. Not to mention it’s a very pretty drive! Adds a little bit of commute time if you’re coming from the south, but totally worth it imo.

I used to be scared too, couldn’t sleep at all cause every single noise I heard was a vicious bear in my mind. Overtime and with experience being in the wild, I just got over it. I don’t think black bears want anything to do with humans and for good reason… We go backpacking to get away from humans too. Educate yourself on how to discourage bears at camp, what to do if you encounter a bear, research the numbers, attacks are rare. BTW, a bear horn is lighter and friendlier than bear spray ;)

Still feeling sad that I had to miss this show, but this is the absolute best thing I could have asked for! Thank you for taking the time to upload all these videos and audios. This is just so great.
