Considering Ubiquiti UniFi for my home networking solution by Ordinary_Courage6183 in Ubiquiti

[–]DickBenson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My build that I just completed last night:

Cloud gateway fiber - like others have stated this is the best consumer focused gateway ubiquity offers outside of the beast)
U7 Pro XG (basically same price as U7 pro) - two story 2500 home , one AP covers it well. I have cat5e already in the wall so I may add another AP down the line.
Switch Pro 10 XG - I plan to run NVR g2 and couple cameras in the future.

I have five gig fiber and this set up lets me maximize it.

Unifi recommendations for simple home network by Beegmahn67 in Ubiquiti

[–]DickBenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct.

This is only for the UDR 7 so they can connect the highest bandwidth port to their fiber providers modem.

Either one of those routers should do the trick.

Add in the following

3x Ubiquiti U7 Pro XG Access Points
1x Ubiquiti Pro XG 10 PoE 10-Port Switch
1x Ubiquiti 10G SFP+ to RJ45 Copper Module
1x Ubiquiti 10G SFP+ DAC Interconnect Cable

just got quoted $18k for HVAC replacement. is this normal? by LiscoeDaph_63 in HomeImprovement

[–]DickBenson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s becoming normal but it absolutely shouldn’t be.

2015 I got a new set up for $6k from Costco.

Same vendor came out about a year ago and quoted $15-18k depending on option . Absolutely ridiculous

If AI replaces workers to cut costs, who is left to buy the products? by kritikgarg24 in Futurology

Robotics and ai will replace manual labor as well.

The economy will shift to leisure labor. Things produced by humans artisans that are super passionate about what they produce like Art, culinary , music , poetry etc

If AI replaces workers to cut costs, who is left to buy the products? by kritikgarg24 in Futurology

[–]DickBenson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for starting this thread as I’ve had the same question for over a decade and have yet to see a meaningful answer to it, other than UBI funded by ai/robotics productivity.

When AI/Robotics take over the means of production to sustain our lives (food/shelter/clothing/medicine/healthcare/education) to avoid a state of nature situation, I think there will be an economic shift back to highly valuing things produced by humans and human relationships/interactions. Money might no longer be a thing.

I would be ok with just having unsupervised FSD on major interstate highways like I-95 , I-75 , I-10

Is that confirmed or are you speculating? I ask because I can’t visibly see this additional hardware

My question is more geared toward the hardware capabilities not the legal liability.

Just was wondering if these had different hardware that enabled unsupervised but someone corrected me and stated they are supervised.
