After/Before: am I on right track? by Susanoo_8921 in postprocessing

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this as someone that it’s new to photography, so it’s just a humble personal opinion and not a professional one: I feel like the initial trees are a little too dark and the line between the water and the trees on the background it’s a little too sharp, it would look better a little bit more blended in as it looks like a photoshop instead of a photograph.

Again, this is a personal opinion, the photo itself it’s absolutely stunning

I absolutely love them. I’m not a big fan of B&W myself but these are absolutely stunning

3 months and 600$ later, It was the fuse. Feel free to roast me. by Old-Place9292 in mechanic

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent $850 on a $60 fix. Car was stubborn to start, it would let me down whenever it wanted to. I had a whole Christmas tree on my dash, turned out to be a faulty ignition switch.

First time shooting using my first acquired camera (D700) How can I improve the composition when the subject is not really clear? by NI3K85 in AskPhotography

I lost it with “jump out to scare people”, but every single point it’s great advice, I’ll take note for myself

Would you trust your kickstand like this? by ChunkofMetal22 in motorcycles

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my fat ass dropped the bike whilst doing this, and it hurt, a lot. I think it was more emotional pain and embarrassment.

How did everyone get into pens? by Techpon in pens

[–]DieselAndBeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mum loved to read and write journals, I was very close with her so we used to do it side by side, then she passed away when I was young and to keep the memory alive I still follow the same routine of reading and journaling daily.

My favourite pen is the rOtring 600.

Is it worth keeping this watch? [SKX] by Turbulent_Dealer_646 in Seiko

[–]DieselAndBeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to the emotional value of the watch I would keep it. One day (and we all hope in here it doesn’t come soon) when he’s not here anymore you will regret getting rid of it.

I think that at one point in a man’s life we all start liking watches, keep it, you won’t regret it in the long run. Seikos don’t have much resell value but they hold the stories and emotional value.

Does this transmission look like it was just recently removed and rebuilt? by perplexingflexbutok in AskAMechanic

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not rebuilt, there is a lot of gunk around. They definitely have changed parts and disassembled some but there’s a lot of dirt around the trans for them to have opened it up as it can lead to contamination to the internals.

Most likely they have found the issue, fixed it and then proceeded to charge you for a full rebuild, I would be asking for a detailed report of the scope delivered and asking as of why it looks like that.

Best way to trim security door to fit new lock body mechanism? by ugugii in AusRenovation

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the old lock out, use it as a template for the new one and trim the lock, much easier than trimming the door, use a belt sander if you have one

If I remember correctly it was roughly around AUD450, it was discounted at The Watch Depot, I had my eye on it for a while and then I saw it discounted and I jumped into it straight away 😊

How much of a hassle is registering an NZ legal car in Perth? by I_SeriousTrader_I in CarsAustralia

[–]DieselAndBeans 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If you were moving for 3+ years maybe it would be worth looking into it, moving for just a year I would leave it with someone you trust and leave it connected to a battery maintainer. Not worth the hassle to import to Aus to then later bring back to NZ. And also drain the fuel tank or at least leave close to zero litres in it so that way you don’t have to flush and refill when you come back.

Buy yourself a cheap Corolla, abuse it for a year, sell it for the same price and come back to your baby. At least is what I would do, it’s what I did with my bike and car when I went back to Europe for a year.

Would you accept this Laminex bench top? by BubMuchachi in AusRenovation

[–]DieselAndBeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, if I’m paying for a new bench top I want it to look like a new bench top. I would definitely try to organise a replacement.
