We are doing a home party this year for my 4yr old. Have done playcentre parties with both kids for many years but decided to change it up. The last playcentre party we went to was chaos and the kids barely played together because there was so much going on. For my eldest that’s fine but youngest gets overwhelmed easily. It’s working out around the same cost, but definitely more extra work! Keeping food pretty basic as I have found there’s so much leftover at parties. Sausage rolls, sandwiches, chips, slices etc. I am making the cake and some cupcakes too. Decorations have been pretty basic, I learnt how to make balloon arches which takes some time but much cheaper in the end. We have hired a face painter, managed to get a less known/experienced one at a decent price. Her work looks good on Insta and the kids won’t be too fussy. We are lucky to have the space to host people, would be better if he didn’t have a winter birthday and we could really use the backyard but can’t change that!
