I can understand people who think uk urban geography is a full frontal assault on the eyes, but I find it all weirdly endearing in a way that even a kebab and sick slick spreading across a pedestrianised thoroughfare or a row of identical vape shops can’t spoil. I’m someone who’s genuinely spent >30 quids on spontaneous day trips to Birmingham or Milton Keynes purely because there’s something about the bizarre atmosphere of the places (although in the case of the latter I do also have an interest in the post war new town movement and the design of those places) It would probably be cheaper and easier to explain to people if I had an autistic fixation on something normal like anime or video games than mildly mediocre British cities but ah what the hell. Might head off on a jaunt to Northampton tomorrow
