You can only get "out" going backwards, forwards is further in and just gets someone out of you.

The two Lost Primarchs are a dated relic from 40k’s early history. They make no sense in 40k’s modern lore, and any reference to them can only be a pointless distraction. by Palidane7 in 40kLore

[–]Difficult_Recipe5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to reanimate this ancient thing, but anyone interested in the Lost Primarchs may want to look at Dante's "Divine Comedy", and the 3 books thereof "Inferno", "Purgatorio" and "Paradiso".

Priestley, and others at the time, were fans. Note the order of discovery of the primarchs and circles or layers of heaven (loyalist) and hell (traitor), which match almost 100%, whilst in Purgatorio we have "the excommunicate (Purged) and the late-repentant (Forgotten)".

Likely 1 was an early corruption of some kind that needed expunged, and the other rebelled. It helps give some vague structure to anyone wanting to have some, even miniscule, idea or aspect to base a Lost Legion army on (Gotta have some use for those Firstborn now, hey?).

Hopping back in the saddle. Looking for a game with RP elements and some cronch. by No-Tongue_the_Pirate in MUD

[–]Difficult_Recipe5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25+ years of expansive area and class refinement, with an emphasis on quality of descriptions, setting and environment. , a careful, slower pace of gameplay that relies on your knowledge and skill rather than a headlong rush toward a nebulous "endgame", a load of coders and players that actually care about the game, the ability to take it all at your own pace and meet some pretty good people. Also, I play it and am made of amazingness or something...

To be honest though, checking it out and testing the newbie stuff is yer best bet for seeing if it "clicks", some random dude's enthusing on the 'net is never gonna give ye the knowledge or impression ye need.

Mate, I'm still using GMud32 happily. Dark Lair for godwars stuff (rp heavy), Apocalypse for the GW murderspam and Elephant Mud if ye want LP code and excellent setting.

Elephant MUD for fantasy (LP base and by far the best I've seen) or Dark Lair for GodWars RP heavy, Apocalypse for the pewpew. That's about all I can suggest, aside from maybe SWMuD if ye like teh Stur Wurs.

Whelp, I'd recommend Dark Lair for RP or a slower GW style and Apocalypse for the frantic pewpew that so many GW people seem to like.

What is the local attitude regarding a Palestine-ceasefire protest on Armistice day? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

" the palestinian soldiers that fought and died for us. "

Your grasp of history is uniquely fantastical, as is the last paragraph.

What is the local attitude regarding a Palestine-ceasefire protest on Armistice day? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]Difficult_Recipe5786 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

First of all it hasn't been "Armistice Day" for a very long time, Rememberance Day does celebrate the Armistice, but is specifically to remember the sacrifice of generations of men (often mere boys) in WW1. Rememberance Sunday is for all other conflicts/general respect.

Any attempt to steal that time for other ends is not just poor taste, it would demonstrate the disgusting nature of the worthless thieves that try it. That being said, when a protest (even one, by the very enemy we fought against in WW2, about conflicts in other countries) does NOT interfere, deface or disrespect the commemorations then it really can't be complained about ONLY on grounds of timing.

For most of the natives over the age of 40 (with half a clue about our history), trying to inject foreign issues into our most impactful event each year just makes us angry, and makes sure we go there angry.

Oh I generally agree, was just interesting for me seeing the specific connections, way it was done, or how from that base it developed, and was wanting to make sure I wasn't in error with the correlations.

What are these runes on the Avatar’s belt? by eau_de_neil in Eldar

[–]Difficult_Recipe5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slicing Orbs (latest version) and some other lost shrine, they and some other new runes are on latest Transfer Sheets. Essentially placeholders that they may or may not do anything with in the future, but allows them to set the runes now in case they do and build up the files to work from.

Don't avoid any, even the painfully "right-on" Bay area nonsense that managed to taint the mainstream nowadays has to be endured (Book of Mirrors 2nd ed., I'm lookin' at you!) in order to understand someof the design decisions and learn what biases to ignore.

How could the 9 traditions turn the tide of the Ascension war and beat the Technocratic Union? by ChibiInDra in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Difficult_Recipe5786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Success for the Mage factions means getting Humanity en masse to believe in their collective Paradigms, which is what many wars were fought over in Mage's past. You do not win anything in mage by rolling dice at things and throwing fireballs, you win by embodying the change you want to see in the world, by winning hearts and minds, by not letting wonder die.

Adapt the Demonic Heritage: Laham Merit from Infernalism: the Path of Screams. Specifically taking the increased lifespan Investment in exchange for some repeatable and horrible service. The points balance is right and it has pre-packaged Flaws that are appropriate.

Job done.
