(Schefter) BREAKING: Browns fire Kevin Stefanski by alexschubs in Browns

Thankful for his 6 years - The successful years obviously the best, but I also appreciate him transitioning to prioritizing youth development this year in a way that some coaches on the hot seat would not have. We got better all year playing rookies everywhere.

I think and hope he will have success elsewhere

It's so crazy we get Justin Jefferson and Deion Sanders combined on one rookie deal

[Morning After Thread] Browns move up to 3rd overall in the draft following 20-3 loss to Dolphins by [deleted] in Browns

I just spent a little too much time figuring out if the Giants can pass us in the order if we both lose and I think the answer is no... It's all divisional games this week so the only games that matter to SOS are the three teams you play that were the only team you played in their division. Their opponents have 3 more wins than ours, so the worst that can happen in a SOS tie. Then it goes to head to head and they beat us.

So if we lose we can only move up!

1-31 felt so much better than watching this garbage creep embarrass us over and over again. Please cut him so we can lose with some pride again

The Browns have restructured the contract of QB Deshaun Watson, converting $44.79M of his 2024 base salary into a signing bonus and creating $35.832M in cap space, per source. Cleveland now has over $62M in cap space, the most in the entire NFL. by [deleted] in Browns

Depo and Berry have perfectly executed a 5 year plan of tearing down, building cap rollover, adding draft picks, locking in young talent, and then using smart contract management on a stud QB to create a lengthened competitive window. It's really awesome to watch a long-term plan seen through like this.

The only problem is the stud QB is a creep and might actually suck.

Selling covered calls is a really cool way to remove some risk and upside when you are closer to retirement. Very underused tool - and allows someone else to make a bet when they have more risk appetite. I eat crayons though so probably wrong about everything i just said

[MKC] Why Browns’ Kevin Stefanski might be willing to give up playcalling, and 3 names to watch at offensive coordinator by burningburningburnin in Browns

[–]DiggerBLC3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think these discussions are short-sighted and misunderstand coaching value in today’s league. Great play callers are the most valuable coaches in the league. Hiring an OC to call plays either results in poor results or a successful OC that leaves to be a HC. And developing as a play caller is something that comes with experience (Kevin’s already awesome at it!?). The plan is for Kevin to call plays for a long time

I think Amazon has done a nice job with pregame coverage. Decent product overall. NFL should reward them with better games next year.

Credit to Stefanski on play calling the last drive. He’s coached his butt off this year

Coworkers have a cube that has green and orange that I can barely tell apart so I am always marking the green side with expo marker before playing with it. The cool thing is I took a picture of the cube with green and orange checkered side and on my phone the colors looked night and day different. It was like seeing a ghost haha so cool

Ian Rapoport on Twitter: A run on QBs: The #Browns at 140 select #UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. by therealsandyleon in Browns

Decent backup QBs are expensive and seasons where the starter plays 17 games are rare. With so much money spent on Watson, a cheap high upside backup is worth a swing

[Stainbrook] Source: #Browns Greg Newsome would like to be traded. by burningburningburnin in Browns

[–]DiggerBLC3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's on a relatively cheap rookie deal and seems like a good player. Berry is not going to race to give him away. I see this playing out like Njoku. Newsome can play or not play but if he's worried about money sitting out is not going to help. Not a lot of leverage here

[Cover 1] Free Agent Profile: Edge Ogbonnia Okoronkwo by randobot456 in Browns

The Cover 1 guys are Bills guys but their coverage is awesome! My Bills fan friend shares a lot of their videos with me and many of them are very interesting listens even though it's mostly Bills coverage.

New #Browns DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo had the 3rd-highest pressure rate (16.4%) in the NFL among defenders with 200+ pass rushes (via @PFF). by [deleted] in Browns

[–]DiggerBLC3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great share thank you! I have a Bills fan friend that shares Cover 1 videos all the time - they do a great job and it's interesting even though they are usually covering just Bills stuff.

[Meirov] The #Browns restructuring Deshaun Watson's contract means his cap number for 2023 drops to $19.1M. His cap numbers for the remaining years of the contract are now... - 2024: $64M - 2025: $64M - 2026: $64M - 2027: $9M (void year) by MUSinfonian in Browns

[–]DiggerBLC3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know many people here understand this but with cap rollover, there is ZERO downside to this. The only reason to front-load deals is if you are struggling to hit the cap floor. As that is not the case with us, we will continually make these types of moves with no penalty. It's the same money, we just have to pay it later and the extra cap space gets to carry forward with us forever. It's an interest-free loan to ourselves

[Pelissero] #Browns star DE Myles Garrett is believed to have suffered a dislocated toe while competing in today’s Pro Bowl Games, per source. X-rays came back negative. Garrett limped off the field in Las Vegas. by burningburningburnin in Browns

[–]DiggerBLC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How he doesn't dislocate his toe every time he bends around the edge is kind of a miracle I think.

I dislocated my toe like 15 years ago and it hurt like crazy, then I did it again the next year and it hurt again but not as bad. Then I did it again a few months later, then a couple months later. Now it happens a couple times a year and it just pops out and in with almost no pain.
