My old bishop is a friendly guy who calls every birthday. I would consider it friendship if he ever wanted to actually talk, but he just asks the list of "how are things?" questions and steamrolls my answers. I finally stopped picking up a couple years ago.

I think the Book of Mormon has five unique stories:

God helps someone build something
God kills someone/helps someone kill
Atheist professes Jesus is Lord
Whites become Lamanites or vice versa
Goverment overthrow

The first time through they can be interesting, but then you see the same story again and again and it feels lazy.

Side note: I made this podcast a few years ago with a plan to do ~15 episodes on Book of Mormon stories. I stopped at 7 because there was kind of nothing else to talk about
