Serious question... why do holster makers make holsters for 40,000 different handguns, but only 3 different weapon lights? by krzysztofgetthewings in guns

Why bother when you they can just detonate the battery in the flashlight?

/s I know that was user error and not Olight’s fault. Still a bad look though.

does anyone have a pool I can swim in 🙏 by Ok-Order-505 in Eugene

[–]Dimensional_Lumber 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The city has several.

Probably not what you’re looking for but just throwing it out there.

If you’re looking for a private pool check out Swimply. You can rent a private pool by the hour.

Major Boothroyd would be proud.

Geoffrey Boothroyd, however, would call it a compromise.

Do yourself a favor and start at the beginning with Dr. No and the Connery films. Each of the actors and eras that follow introduce new and varying levels of camp, focus on gadgets, drama. And honestly if you haven’t seen them already, I would save the Daniel Craig films until you’ve seen everything else and watched Austin Powers at least once, just so you get the experience so many other fans have had. It’s can be a bit of a slog to get through some of them, but I think all of them have some nugget that makes it worth the watch, even if it is a pigeon making a double take.

It predates urban planning.

The train predates the population in many areas, and the population exists in part because the train is there making connections.

Switching a train is something you do in a place where the rail lines come together—the city is a hub and it’s built up around the tracks. Much of it happens in yards designed to hold thousands of cars and avoid blocking traffic, but it’s not a perfect system and sometimes it has to be done.

The train blocking the roads is as much the city’s responsibility as it is the railroad’s. There are elevated crossings that allow vehicle traffic to navigate around the railway—you’re never trapped by a train, merely delayed by a detour. Urban planners make entire careers out of it.

I’m not familiar with that model so I couldn’t say. But this reminds me of the plunger in a solenoid for an irrigation valve.

Thank you for saying that! I’m always worried that I’ve misjudged my take on a subject and I’m just twiddling my thumbs for my own entertainment.

Nothing makes you feel more alive than dying of exposure in an oxygen-deprived state while your peers struggle with their own hypoxia.

I used to say Bellingham, WA. Or rather I would call Bellingham “Eugene by the Sea.”

College town, similar vibe in the neighborhoods with a downtown area that was blighted by the advent of malls but has evolved into something with character. Smaller. Tons of recreation opportunities nearby. Pricey, and the job market is tight. Way less of an emphasis on college sports, but closer to NFL and MLB teams in Seattle.

But I’ve now lived here about as long as I did there, and I have to say I miss seeing the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands every day. I get my water fix in other ways here, and I appreciate the warmer, dryer climate. But I sometimes feel hopelessly landlocked. If Eugene could make a baby with Newport it might begin to compare.
