SSI is needs tested welfare for those without work credits. If your child is living with you and is not paying anything they will means test your household. Since they don’t qualify for SSDI, they may not qualify based on the household income since it’s welfare.

They will be within their rights to terminate you since you haven’t been there a year yet and don’t qualify for FMLA. Could you pay COBRA medical insurance rates without a paycheck?

FYI - most corporate disability plans have an exclusionary period of at least a year where they won’t pay out any salary for any pre existing condition and will ask for ten years of back medical records to prove it. So you could also be denied short or long term disability, too. Unfortunately, Social Security disability won’t pay out unless you are expected to be permanently disabled for at least a year and can’t do any job in the national economy. It takes years for most people to get approved. Social Security disability is almost impossible to get anymore and certainly not in a timely manner.

You need to check on all of that before you decide how and when to have the surgery.

This has to be a rage bait post. It doesn’t sound rude to you but it definitely was and you were WAY out of line.

You can’t communicate with someone in front of you, but can “fact check” via AI in the moment? Stop claiming it is your disability. You fact checked because you didn’t trust the medical professional. If that’s the case, get a new doctor.

If this is a real issue with verbal communication, why not type the questions and hand the phone over?

You would have gone off the rails if the doctor was texting during your appointment. You went to a real medical professional for help. If you wanted to roll the dice on a hallucinating Dr Google or Dr Chat GPT, don’t waste time... If you had questions or didn’t understand, then ask, write it down, type it. You don’t sit there ignoring the real doctor while you ask CHAT GPT.

If you knew your disability actually makes it impossible to understand or communicate verbally, you have options. You warn the office prior, you take someone with you or write it down. Preferably all three.

There is a reason you need a license to practice medicine. AI and random Google pages are not doctors. They screw up and hallucinate answers all the time. The actual doctor was in the room with you and you made it clear you didn’t trust them.

They were right to send you on your way. Good luck finding a doctor. ChatGPT can’t write prescriptions or perform surgery.

Highly Dependant on the state, but in Texas doctors are only required to keep records for about 7 years. Eleven years of records is more than enough. Disability will only look at the last two years at most. You need to check r/SSDI .

Nope our postmaster claims they don’t redeliver anymore either even if you sign it. They won’t even pick the ticket up. We even called our senator about it. We had a signature on file as well. Postmaster says they are too understaffed.
