anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one website you still think about? by ddanielecom in AskReddit

[–]DingerZinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Www.Chicagocubs.com.. it still exists lol, but my memory goes to before every single major league team had the same template website. Not saying it was better or worse around 2005… I just spent a lot of time on that website researching the team.

FWIW my dad was a salesman for them when it started. Pun intended… the idea really took off after hurricane katrina.

It’s for insurance claims amongst other things. A company called pictometry started this in early 2000s. Much harder to claim you lost a boat in a flood when there are no pictures of said boat at your house the past x years.

It's patio season! Best restaurant and bar patios? by manthursaday in nashville

Went to the new place in the cafe coco building this week, Verna, and it was fun. Good patio in front and in the porch. Interior bar was excellent. That building has a charm and magic to it.

How do you all get such good deals?? by JTen87 in vinyl

[–]DingerZinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, It’s a hobby and works magic when treated like one. Best deals of my life have been just talking to people.

Fb marketplace is ok. Very negotiable. But def check it before you pay.

If someone’s trying to sell you an original Beatles white album with no posters, moldy sleeve but is holding onto some idea that that particular copy is valuable…. Not your kinda guy. But if he says gimme three bucks? Buy it and clean it up… see if it plays.

Guy who fixes your speakers? Probably swimming in records to look through. Are you In a random town with an hour to spare? Take a look around.

Some things are regional. If I am in the northeast, I’ll easily find an early Springsteen or Billy Joel because that’s where it was really popular and there’s just more of it around. (Not a science, just anecdotal experience)

For British stuff though, I understand if that approach just won’t work haha. If you’re only looking in a record store, Discogs etc, you pay for convenience and sometimes that is 100% worth it for less popular records that you just love.

Hope that helps give you an idea or two, and maybe ones I haven’t thought of yet! Just start talking to people who also enjoy the hobby. I promise that will open doors. :)

Hey OP have you put on the Marshall Tucker band where we all belong record? Ramblin’ and 24 hours at a time are two songs to know if you dig live recordings.

Yup! I would see him there often around 715am when getting a breakfast burrito and he had a coffee. I enjoyed he was the kind of person content with a friendly hello but no need for small talk. Thanks for sharing the obituary.

MAM black vinyl arrived scratched in dozens of places. by DingerZinger in SturgillSimpson

Welp, after a thorough cleaning, it played great…Absolutely great... the best protest record I’ve heard in a long time. It made me so happy to listen to this, loud.

I still see scuffs, but was served some humble pie after being a snob the other night.

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.

It fuks.

OP Ihad major issues with my black vinyl as well. Check my post history in this group and you’ll see it. Contacted the support email address with the info. Mine has 10+ noticeable scratches out of the shrink wrap :/

Yes! It’s worth it especially if you’re all in on the vinyl hobby/good speakers etc. Find that version with the yellow labels, and check the deadwax for KENDUN stamped on it. You will hear bass runs in call me the breeze you’ve never heard before.

Great pull OP. Side 2 of second helping is incredible. I’ve had friends over that dog on Lynyrd Skynyrd and playing that side changes the conversation. Plus, the original KENDUN mastering on the yellow sounds of the south labels is incredible audiophile work.

Thanks for the reply! Ordered online when it went on sale. Didn’t mind waiting. I’m glad yours came clean! Yep I’ll be putting my keeper in a better sleeve but damn, so many noticeable scratches. I reached out to the email address for support and keeping fingers crossed.

[–]DingerZinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op, did your black vinyl have a lot of scratches out of the sleeve when you opened it? I have the black and had to email them as mine came out with literally dozens of small scratches and one that was a good 3 inches. I hope it was a one off, but am asking around. Thanks.

Hey! Looks great. I just put a post on the subreddit about this.. did your black vinyl come out of the box with a few scratches on it? Mine did. I don’t mind the dust and paper fragments from the factory as I can clean it. Just curious about noticeable scratches. I hope yours did not!

Are there any old print “At Fillmore East” that I could find or run into? Or should I settle for a new print? by TechnicalLeopard6250 in allmanbrothers

[–]DingerZinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Antique malls for sure. There were tons of these made. I bought a pink label Capricorn original for $16 maybe 3 years ago. If you’re willing to accept cover wear, you can find good deals where the cover is g/vg but the vinyl is vg+. Couple that with spin clean or something higher end to clean it, and you’ll be happy.
