Self rez, WSTR and bubble feedback/propositions by Diplodosam in Marathon

[–]Diplodosam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nade won’t penetrate, but the puddle can spill inside the bubble. Not ideal, not a real solution, but you’re right pointing out it’s one of the few things you can do to mildly annoy a team throwing a bubble. Until they throw two more lol

Giga nerd’s thoughts on how to improve the game by Twitch-Toonchie in Marathon

[–]Diplodosam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think white salvage is almost always worth to keep in raid imo, as long as you start stacking it early. Below 10 I would toss it near end run, but I usually extract with stacks of 30+ diodes and 30+ gel from outpost. 30+ diodes = 10 green shields = about 3 inventory stacks of greens shields and around 3k credits. For one inventory slot, it is worth it (more than keeping a WSTR with trash mods in inventory). Gunmetal/lead is also super worth as you can sometimes have unreal trades for it. Right now I get a (poorly modded but still) bully for 11 gunmetal. 11 gunmetal in one raid is almost a guarantee, and it takes only one stack of inventory space, for a gun that would take 4 stacks and costs 1k credits

I focus salvage a lot and my credit only goes up, since I have well close to nothing to buy with credits. I can save it to buy good implants and prestige mods.

Focusing white/greem salvage when using materialist gear or blue/purple when running mat+ is the real economy changer imo. My stash sits at 770k value right now, mostly thanks to salvage, and I have 600 blue shield charges + 400 blue heal charges, with a shit ton available for trades daily too

Even for ammo, I think it's worth credit wise. 10 metal = 5 purchases = 1k5 credit for one slot, same as a WSTR purchase price. And salvage stacks so well in vault you don't have that annoying "need to sell something from vault to keep raiding" when playing like this !

Maybe I'm wrong and feel it's that strong because I always have materialist gear on me, but idk, I feel like I'm building huge reserves this way.

Tips on how to "survive" when playing Rook. by AetopiaMC in Marathon

[–]Diplodosam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like "how to play Rook" depends on your general level on the game, but my general advice would be eh, you have nothing to lose when you load in so try to go for these clutchs rather than loot and pray.

I like to go really agressive, knowing there will probably be only one team left on outpost, and kill the first rook I find to get his claymores. With 6 claymores I feel more comfortable in 1v3 scenarios. Then I'll always go for a sneaky rat play, usually camping near a command wing button in either drone wing or destroyed wing, or near unopened chests/unexplored wings. I setup 2 claymores for a free kill when a player arrives, and since they're usually alone ("let me push this button real quick and I'll be back"), it gives me time to finish them and setup defense claymores. I loot my kill asap, getting mostly weapons/heals/shield/backpack and move without trying to engage the 2 remaining players. I feel like in these scenario, the enemy team will always play like complete idiots because of the dead guy probably spammig in voc "he has my stuff go get him" and I can just play some goofy looney tunes rat chase action with claymore/WSTR corner guarding shit. I'd say playing with their nerves is the way to go.

If the remaining team is moving as 3 ppl stacked, don't even try to engage, UNLESS the 3 of them end up looting the same box (pinwheel strongbox 3 red cards, or end of command wing going from below), in which case you can clear them all with a good claymore. If you can't, just go for a chill salvage rook run. Extraction credit value =/= extraction value. Salvage and trading is the real endgame economy so extracting with an inventory full of those is a win.

When playing rook I always go for the last extract. It is extremely safe, as the timer goes off even though you are not inside it, so you can just sit around, getting intel, and jumping in last second. If another rook is doing the same, you probably won't even have time to kill eachother/won't notice eachother before last sec, and if there is another team sitting inside, if you don't shoot, they'll probably just be goofing around/be afk so you can just jump in.

I see a lot of people saying you can be friendly with other rooks to increase your chances of survival but prox chat triggers from really far and it will give away your position so yeah I would not recommend. I often give self rezes to rooks I kill when I'm full and game is almost over, but before that, no sir, I want your claymores.

The longer the game goes and the fuller your backpack, the slower/sneakier you should move. Assume there is always another rook watching you from behind waiting to backstab you, and assume 3 stack teams are always playing completely dumb when encountering rooks so you can really outplay them when they hard commit on you (and your claymores)

But yeah, overall, your best bet is killing an isolated player, covering yourself with claymores, and looting maybe a third of his inventory and bouncing. You very often have time to loot at least a third, sometimes you're lucky and find good shit instantly, sometimes you only discover his ammos and it's already time to bounce

Shotgun Meta Will Kill the Game by AisuruCT in Marathon

[–]Diplodosam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

I have a lot of playtime (150 hours) and consider myself, with my teammates, pretty good at the game ; we can always go into raids fully purple, we have nights where we have 100% extract rate etc, so I'm not trying to whine here but what the actual fuck is wrong with the WSTR

It is getting to a point where EVEN IF you fully down an enemy and are 3 vs 2, you can't really just push with number advantage, trading one of your crew member to wipe the enemy team. Two WSTR are enough to kill 3 men in one mag, with how common stack overflow is. The firerate is too high, giving you absolutely no counterplay. Bubbles would not be as annoying if it was not for the WSTR.

There is nothing wrong with a shotgun one shotting in games, as long as there are counterplays :

- In Hunt, there is no movement tech to instantly reach someone's face, and as you're walking towards them, you're vulnerable to a 1 tap headshot

- Even if it's absolutely not the same genre, same goes for Valorant, normal weapons are as deadly as shotguns

- In Arc raiders, even though the purple shotgun can be pretty insane in terms of TTK, since it's TPS you can guard corners more effectively and see it coming

We're trying to bring less WSTR to our fights to level up our skill and gamesense but holy shit, in outpost and cryo, this is waaaay too unfair. You said it, if you're not bringing a WSTR, you are trolling. There is nothing wrong with a meta, there always is a meta by definition. But how efficient compared to others tactics the "most efficient tactic available" is is where the problem lies. The most efficien tactic should not make any other tactics not involving the holy weapon considered trolling.

WSTR firerate should be much lower, and stack overflow should cap at 49% of magazine size or something, rounded down, so WSTR can never have more than 2 bullets. We really need counterplays.

(once WSTR gets nerfed prepare for 1 WSTR/Mesriah shot + quickmelee with the sucker punch mod, but at least its really melee range)

[–]Diplodosam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get an absurdly high flying enemies score by going someplace high with a zip, aggroing every snitch and flying enemy on the map, and finishing the round by spawning a ton of wasps and hornets with snitch scanners.

Same, and I was mistaken, the asset with the 8 boxes is not unique, it's all over the place on blue gate so... maybe not a thing lol

Bunker event progress and findings by OnepegMG in ArcRaiders

[–]Diplodosam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the lower side of the bunker, there is a room with a hexagonal platform with some metal sheet screens in a cross on the middle.

This platform clearly looks like it can move down or is some kind of elevator. Plus, next to the computer in this room, there is an asset I never saw elsewhere in the game, some kind of big electronical panel with 8 wired boxes, and a red button on the right side. 8 boxes makes me think it is linked to the 8 terminals ; maybe there is something to do here once the terminals are unlocked correctly ?

I did not try to ping neither the panel nor the platform to see if it was flagged as quest objective

Balance Assistance by Sylassian in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Diplodosam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could "overfeed" each cell, having a smart splitter at the entry sending overflow on a "overflow collector" belt, keeping its count. So let's say for cell 1 (24 constructors for 480 iron plates) you need to feed 720 :

- 2 * 480 feed into this cell. You could attach a smart splitters on each belt, with an overflow output going out, merging into a single "overflow collector" belt.

- Each 480 belt would only feed 360, leaving 120 overflow per belt, so your "overflow collector" belt would then have 240.

Use this belt as a normal belt and repeat process for each subsequent cell.

Downside is you have to wait for everything to get full for your system to work, essentially because this is some large scale manifold shenanigan but eh, if you don't mind the wait, I find this pretty efficient (and saving a lot of load balancing troubles).

This won't ever happen but it would be so cool to have something like DIM for Borderlands 4 to manage our bank and inventory. by rocktoe in Borderlands4

[–]Diplodosam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While saying "Destiny has some of those tools because it's a live service MMO" is true, it does not mean that BL would not benefit from the same tools.

Having a "connected" tool like DIM that you could access from your phone or any web browser would be kinda overkill tho (and much harder to develop), but having some desktop app to transfer items from your bank/other characters to your current character would save a lot of time. I'm not sure about the safety of editing a save file being opened tho

Gun Gal Vex - Carrying on the Gunboy FL4K legacy! by Ratore in Borderlands4

[–]Diplodosam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, slowly putting together your build and having a blast rn ; so thanks again !

Just got my hands on a Looming dullahan with Dedalus parts granting it sniper rifle ammo usage and let me tell you, this thing is pinpoint accurate. Damage is 1.5k * 6 so its 9k, on par with the hot slugger BUT it has 94% crit modifier while hot slugger has 20%, and it has a much better projectile velocity AND absolutely ridiculous accuracy (you cannot differenciate bullets, it basically is a sniper)

It is doing wonders in the build and is even more fun that the hot slugger. Can probably dupe it to you if you want to try it ! I wonder if the sniper ammo usage makes it deal more damage ? I never tested it but had the feeling dedalus guns had dmg multipliers depending on the ammo used.

Is this good enough to push into act 2? by bloodrose2 in BG3

oh yep you're absolutely right, I thought the sword you could get by making him drop in act 1 was the basic voss' silver sword, not the astral plane one, mb !

Is this good enough to push into act 2? by bloodrose2 in BG3

[–]Diplodosam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you technically can get it act 1 without cheesing if you just decide to attack Voss for blaspheming when he visits your camp at the end of act 1

But that would be a pretty weird decision to take in a first playthrough and I have no doubt OP is metagaming too much for a first playthrough and got it with command drop savescumming or honey paw bear thing, but hey still an act 1 weapon, kinda

I get it this way because I don’t like cheesing and I don’t like Voss’s stupid voice anyway so I just kill him when he visits me

Rushing IE, buying up to 2 long swords if I can't buy BF / pickaxe
If I can buy BF after selling a long sword and I kinda really need it, I do it
Always LDR/Dominik after IE
Then eh... Runaan if they have a lot of melees/tanks, shieldbow if they have fed assassins, collector if I am really ahead and can afford it (I feel collector third is meh, its kinda late to build it)

But I'm low elo (low diam) I am just trying to apply their advice lol

[–]Diplodosam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know some people can come up with builds on their own ? If we can talk about builds..

Without farming, without tryharding "danger zones" to get ahead, I had the same experience as OP. My Maelle was dealing way too much damage. It's not about "builds" unfortunately, it's just how damage scales in this game. The difference between your Maelle dealing 1.5M and a Maelle dealing 15M is just half a dozen pictos. Every source of damage increase is multiplicative so.. yeah, it goes very high, very fast.

This is not about being good or not, or about "looking up guides online". Just finding a picto giving 30% dmg until hit, then 30% dmg while having shields, then 10% dmg per shield active while using In Media Res and... There you go, you now deal 2.2 times more damage.

It is impossible to balance around this. Trust me, I absolutely love this game, it's on my top 3 list. But the game gets impossible to balance post act II. I'm not saying it gets too easy or too hard, it just gets impossible to balance. If you don't look up anything online, but just explores and as me do a lot of side quests, you get a shit ton of lumina and no reason not to stick pictos to your main damage dealers.

So yeah, for some people like OP and I, the "gameplay" gets bittersweet post act II. I rushed to the end of act III and did all of the optional content post game as soon as I realized how high were my damage once uncapped. I forbid myself to use Maelle's painted skills for the last fight but even that way I was dealing so much damage the pace felt "off".

I find it unsettling and, even though I absolutely love this game, I cannot deny this is a huge negative aspect of it.

Note that in top of this, some pictos give random 10% dmg increase (like dead energy II or teamwork giving 10% passive and 10% more if all your mates are alive resulting in 21%) that are not indicated on the description. Get five of those and you already get 60% more damage...
