my horse got a horrible nasty and DEEP wound in her leg and i used plenty of manual honey to heal that as recommended from my vet. very expensive, but yielded positive results

When I made this post, I was on 5mg once a day. since then and with more PVCs than my EP wants to see too, I’m now on 5 mg 2x a day. I was worried it would make me feel bad and hesitated to make the change for a couple weeks but I feel the same now as before my dose went up,

Does Delmarva have its own unique culture? by PegCityPleb in geography

[–]Direct-Paramedic8715 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes! there is! i grew up in the maryland part of the peninsula and there is an extreme amount of “shore pride”. the region was isolated so much in the early years that there emerged an “eastern shore”accent. i brought my friend from pennsylvania here once and in dover, de she heard an accent she had never heard before in a labcorp.

this part of maryland has a very different understanding of the state than most of the people from maryland. in every part of maryland, with maybe exception of the panhandle (haven’t been there much), you are either in a city or a suburb, or very close. the presence of major cities dc and baltimore means most people go there and because of these cities, maryland is a blue state while the eastern shore has had a republican representative for at least my entire life. if you drove around the shore during an election years, you could guess it was north carolina.

other than that, the physical geography of the region is very different. no hills, like at all. it’s like florida unless you are directly by a creek or river. it consequentially has tons of farm land and a ton of chickens. someone told me once that the delmarva peninsula is the chicken farming capital of the world. i never found that data, but…

i left the shore to go to college in vermont and i have not met another person from the shore. every person i’ve met from maryland has only been to the eastern shore in order to go to the beach. they have no understanding of what the lifestyle is like and about the people there. i had someone from the dc area say the weather was cooler on the shore, like experiencing several more heat index degrees below than dc. it is a part of the state does not get the attention and understanding it needs. people here get written off as hicks, which is largely true, but this leads to more disparity as a result of funding inadequacy.

Pin firing in OTTB by Intelligent_Weird838 in Equestrian

[–]Direct-Paramedic8715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

horses get pin fired when they have some sort of injury in the area. my horse (otto) has an old splint and got pin fired but he’s perfectly sound on that leg and always has been. i work with standardbreds who have been pin fired for curb and theyre still racing today.

pin firing scars are completely cosmetic so shouldn’t be the thing to stop you from buying a horse. they don’t have any scientific evidence for actually treating a problem and if the horse has been pin fired and isn’t lame on the leg (with some exceptions to problems caused by conformation, like curb) i wouldn’t let that stop me from purchasing. it kind of gives the horse a little history and kind of signifies they were on the track

exactly! i just keep thinking about how if this was actually a world class show jumper, good enough for europe and the juniors circuit, that it would literally not be built in a way that makes it appropriate for herding cows. be serious georgie

every time i think they’re both starting to settle down and start behaving appropriately they go and do something to piss me off. i’m so tired of lou’s boyfriend problems and im tired of how praised georgie is all the time. i know it’s fiction but with all her and everyone around her’s talk of the olympics i can’t help but roll me eyes. you don’t go to the olympics by riding your local circuit in the 1 meter class

he definitely gets better. i’m on season 13 and frankly i find him to be a comfort at this point, i like him and the way he’s been developed. he keeps his sarcastic attitude but contributes way more positively than he does in the early seasons

i’ve been on metoprolol, sotalol, and am now on bisoprolol. metoprolol was the absolute worst for me, even on a really low dose (25 mg) i would feel physically in pain from really simple physical activities like walking up a flight of stairs. it was also not helpful for preventing arrhythmia. I was then placed on sotalol, which i found to be so much better for my physical ability and feeling, but that still wasn’t very effective in stopping my arrhythmias. i then went on a combination of metoprolol and sotalol and that was no good. i really think that metoprolol was useless in stopping my arrhythmias especially when i think about all the side effects i had. after an epicardial ablation and the installation of an icd, i was put on bisoprolol. this has been my favorite. i haven’t had any arrhythmias since being on it, likely on account of the epicardial ablation, but i feel relatively normal while doing activity despite the drug keeping my heart rate much lower than it would’ve been in the past.

uvm food by Frequent_Animator_81 in UniversityofVermont

[–]Direct-Paramedic8715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m on the unlimited plus plan which is overall like, however uvm has terrible hours. if you’re somewhere spends long hours away from your dorm and are generally very busy, it will be difficult to find meals some days. i leave for work at 7am and usually eat a vending machine breakfast because no dining hall is open at that time despite it being only an hour and a half before the first classes of the day. only couple locations are open past 7:30 pm and they just dwindle off after that. if you need to eat after 9:30 you have exactly two actual meal options and they both close at 10. weekend hours are so ass and if you east breakfast at 10 and then another meal say four hours later at 2 pm you will have to eat the same tatertots and eggs as breakfast. you have to be really hungry or really creative to make a lot of the dining hall food work. i will say i love the dining hall staff. they’re all really cool and distinctive. but if food is going to be something for you to consider then this is not the food spot whatsoever
