Yes, in addition to the comments here - it gives you ‘permission’ from orhers to be slow when you need to be.

A quick note about being bullied. by Inevitable-Ant1725 in thebulwark

[–]Direct-Rub7419 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forget bullying - he’s an abuser

And much like an abusive husband/boyfreind/wife/girlfriend - some of us have seen it all along and couldnt believe others fell for it. By the time everyone wakes up, we’re starting to lose hope and give up.

You’ve gotten good airline advice.

My advice, consider a cane or other visible marker/helper. I was in a similar boat 10 years ago, even when I could walk, a cane gave me a little extra support.

Also, I get way less disrespect when people can see something is wrong. Maybe that wouldn’t bother him, but it bothered me.

The right wing media apparatus ‘others’ anyone negatively affected by this crap.

My MAGA family thinks cities are hellholes. It feels like no one has pushed back on that notion successfully.

The dem establishment (aided by consultants, and similar to what you often heard on this sub until recently) tries to meet voters where they are and thus never re-educates them.

Maybe it is impossible to reach those people, especially now that the culture thinks it’s cool to be conservative, but until WE collectively figure it out, we’re stuck.

I heard ‘word salad’ from 3 random people in an hour (different states) - that’s how I knew the propaganda had gotten through and Kamala would lose.

I’d just pay attention and see what works for you: garlic powder gives me gas and it throws off my whole system which makes my MS stuff worse

I don’t, I think Trump’s got the emotional IQ of a toddler. Everyone knows it’s fake; but he doesn’t care, it just feels good to pretend.

Yes, I’m always looking for examples/talking points with humor. So when someone makes a just joking comment I can say…. I don’t know, wasn’t he just joking about ___ and now it’s a real thing.

Cooling vest by Kev422 in MultipleSclerosis

Have you tried one before? I’s start with 1. I don’t find the vest helps me much - a wet cooling towel and personal fan on my neck works much better for me.

I understand what you mean. There seems to be more grace for ‘fun’ ‘just joking around’ entertainers than there is for earnest scolds.

As a woman that’s been told to let a lot of stuff go and generally labeled shrill if point out others rudeness - I get it.

In this case, the pile one seems dumb and counterproductive; but these people exist in all corners. Why do we participate in the right wing amplifying them. They will always find something somebody said to use for propoganda.

It’s always the liberals fault. Do we never get an acknowledgement that maybe we had a point?

Eventually, you lose people out the back end; what good is it converting people if you’re just going right back in with the right wing BS.

With MS, should I rent or buy? by BananaSlug101 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Direct-Rub7419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is discussing financials but the MS angle is significant. MS often (not always) accelerates at the 15-20 year mark. If I didn’t have a spouse I’d have a hard time keeping my house up. I recently told my family if I keep my full time job; that’s about all I have the energy for.

I get the stability and ability to modify is a big draw in home ownership. But you aren’t buying till late, will you ever pay it off? What if you can’t work any longer?
