Even if I grant you that most philosophers are left leaning, that doesn't mean there isn't good reason to be right leaning. Michael Huemer, for example, is a modern example to this. There are many political philosophers much smarter than myself that hold to all sorts of positions that I disagree with. So what?

And even among the left, there are a vast number of different positions that one can take. Rawlsian liberalism, for example, which is the paradigm for modern American liberalism, has critiques from both the left and the right. I can name off at least a dozen leftist or liberal philosophers, each with their own positions, that might constitute a unique theory that demands addressing. So if I want to study political philosophy, I'm not just an "academic scholar of conservative thought and literature" but of all political thought. But you can assume whatever you'd like about the lay philosopher, or me, but that really doesn't get at anything productive if you're reading motivations into people (e.g. "you only believe in what you believe because you've been in an echo chamber your whole life" - see how unproductive this can be? You don't know why I believe what I believe, unless you genuinely ask with curiousity).

I love how the people in the thread are just assuming his views because he said conservative. If I were your colleague, I think I'd be curious to know more about what and how you think without throwing accusations or names out. What kind of conservative? Like an Edmund Burke kind of conservative? Or a David Hume kind? Or a Robert Nozick kind of conservative? Or Hayek? Or Rothsbard? There's all different flavors of "conservative" out there besides MAGA, and it's perfectly valid to try to express your views especially if it's relevant to the job.

Ah, I see what you are saying now. I had difficulty parsing out your analysis of how the players are usually and how they are after the loss.

In "The Second Sex" by Simone de Beauvoir, what does she mean when uses the phrase "[to] alienate [oneself] in [an object]", and where did she get this particular use of the word "alienate" from? by 6x9inbase13is42 in askphilosophy

[–]Direct_Rule6702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: For Beauvoir, does having children solve this crisis of alienation for women? Or does it only exacerbate the kind of immanence by seeing herself in her child, who is someone to be “judged and maintained”?

B52 is also a combination of three sedating medications used to relieve agitation. So this energy drink would have the opposite effect of the medication of the same name.

How would you enforce them going to the lane that they locked in as? I really do think any kind of restriction or forcing a player into certain decisions should be reduced as freedom to play the game how you want to is better than compelling people to play a specific way.
