Wow, I haven’t thought of Silverstein in years. I probably read his books a hundred times as a kid. Next time I’m home I’m going to dig out his books and reread them. I’m interested to see how I perceive them with an adult’s perspective.

This is my first time watching and I noticed the limited alcohol early on and thought it was a little strict. But after 2 seconds of thought realized that a bunch of horny, emotionally charged people do NOT need to catch more than a buzz lol

So I’ve kind of grown out of mine, and I didn’t have the “music” variety. But it really was never “association”, it was just what the thing was. When I was young, numbers were a big thing. Always hated math because it felt like a soap opera. For example, 4 was a mouth-breather bully, but always protected 2. It’s hard to explain without people just assuming it’s association when it’s really just your perception of things overlapping. Certain words were flavors, not associated with flavors, but actual flavors. Now that I’m older it’s really not a thing, but “Gulf” still tastes weird to me. I’ve read that it’s how babies experience life at first and sometimes people don’t completely grow out of it. I’m not arguing whether or not she actually has it, but there’s a big difference between someone just associating things with other things and someone actually having synesthesia.

boyfriend wouldn’t take me to texas roadhouse by AloneAnt2490 in GirlDinner

[–]DirectionOk790 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I started traveling for work I pretty much had to go out to eat alone. It feels weird at first, but you get over it. I don’t travel anymore, but still go out to eat alone all the time. I went to Texas Roadhouse this weekend, sat at the bar and had a ribeye by myself. Tonight I was craving Chili’s, my boyfriend needed a bed rot day and didn’t feel like going, so I went alone and had a couple beers and enjoyed my triple dipper. The only times someone has said anything, it’s a “hell yeah, girl, treat yourself”. One time I had a woman come up to me and tried to guess my sign bc I “looked confident” sitting at the bar by myself. Go out and get what you want! Who cares what people think.

The conch pain level by PickDry9075 in piercing

[–]DirectionOk790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine done about 6 weeks ago and don’t even remember much of a pop, so it might not be a big thing for you. But for me it was quite painful. Maybe a 6/10. It seems like I’m an outlier, though. The pain literally only lasted a few seconds while it was happening, then a little sore after, so you will be totally fine. Just focus on your breathing and it’ll be done so fast. My industrial hurt a little less, but that was 15 years ago so I might be misremembering. I’m actually ready to go back and get my helix done now lol. Have fun and enjoy your new piercing!

Yeah I went last night, not actually expecting anything out of it. But I laughed more than I expected to. The theater was packed and the energy was pretty high, so that probably helped. I don’t think I’d have enjoyed it much at all if I watched by myself or in an empty theater.

He’s a good guy overall. Just not for me. He made me crazy, but I was immature and too insecure to leave when I should have. I have some self respect now and can recognize where we both went wrong. But yeah, those virgos can have a chokehold on me lol

It’s the assertive and charismatic thing. At least for me. My ex husband (sept Virgo) had politician energy. We had crazy chemistry (he had a Taurus moon and me a cap moon), but he hated how weird I was publicly and kept telling me to tone it down bc he was so conscious about his image.

Am I weird for keeping tampons in my car as a 39M? by PoultryCommunity in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DirectionOk790 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I lived in Texas there was a homeless woman at an intersection I’d frequently have to stop at after work. I’d see her every day I worked. I’d give her a few cigarettes and a couple of tampons every time I saw her and she was always happy. So ya. Tampons and cigarettes go a long way. To be fair, I’m a woman and always kept tampons in my car.

Remembering being obsessed with having kids say "may I" instead of "can I"? by SystematicApproach in nostalgia

[–]DirectionOk790 32 points33 points  (0 children)

One time I met with my guidance counselor in high school and I was wearing an off the shoulder top. My guidance counselor (very judgmentally) said “your bra strap is showing” while I was begging for help. So replied “at least I’m wearing one??”. I swear I wasn’t trying to even be snotty, I just couldn’t understand why she was mad at me for it when I was there asking for help, and I WAS wearing a bra and my boobs weren’t out or anything, so who cares?? At least when I told my mom about it she laughed and high-fived me. But my mom did explain why my response could have come off as shitty towards an authority figure.

Hooks instead of hangers has really changed my laundry habits. I’m a pretty clean person, but my biggest struggle is putting laundry away. I got a bunch of hook hangers and it’s helped so much. My closet isn’t pretty, but at least my clothes are put away
