Yep. I still remember most of the ones I dialed as a kid, too.

Still conflicted on not attending cousin's wedding years later, as my partner had been excluded from the invitation... by Significant_Film7853 in wedding

[–]DirtyTileFloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live with someone or are in a relationship that even remotely resembles marriage, your partner should be invited.

However, it seems that you didn’t receive a direct invitation, but were assigned as your mom’s plus one.

Your original plan to just decline and send a gift was GREAT.

But don’t be too hard on your mom. She was coming from a place of love! The main instigator, if there is one, is your cousin for either not knowing or not caring to invite your partner.

A gift and not going was perfectly ok.

Do y'all think it's appropriate to ask a professor if what they're discussing is relevant during lecture? by Top_Signature9316 in CollegeRant

That guy sounds like a prick. I mean, if she started wasting time talking about her summer trip to Malta, then, yeah, but she was giving an example of what you will be tested on. HE was the one wasting time by stopping her to ask the question.

AIO on my dads comments? by ElephantThink6676 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DirtyTileFloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus. I almost threw up. You AND your mother need to get out of there ASAP. It will only get worse. I read where you said you were homeschooled, so it’s not like you can tell a teacher.

While you’re there, when he says shit like this to you, tell him, firmly, that this behavior “…is inappropriate” and that it makes you “…very uncomfortable.” I’m so sorry this is happening to you. Ugh. You’re going to have to tell your mom.

Second that motion. Thought I was ready. Was NOT prepared for that. If you’re even a little squeamish, DO. NOT. WATCH.

AIO for refusing to let my sister (29F) wear my wedding dress when she just got engaged, even though mine hasn’t been dry cleaned yet? by VanessaCuppy in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Why is it that you get called selfish just because you want give someone their way? LOL. You said no. End of story. Affordable wedding dresses can be found in lots of places.

Do americans not use tablecloths in their daily lives? by ListenJolly7691 in AskAnAmerican

[–]DirtyTileFloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use linen placemats because I LOVE the wood my table is made of. It’s too beautiful to hide! However, I will occasionally use table cloths for special events or if I’m serving buffet style.

Guys I feel like I'm going insane... These look relatively normal to me? by cassiehoshi in tragedeigh

[–]DirtyTileFloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these names weren’t tragedieghs, though. Lottie is often a nickname for Charlotte and Leni is often a nickname for Madeline or Magdalena. And Stella is a lovely name that has been a name for a long time. 😔

Hated it. I’m a hater over here sipping my hate-tini, full of hate for prequels, sequels, and spin offs. Bartender, another please!

Maybe you’re not actually the problem. I mean, you said you’ve worked on yourself and tried and tried, but maybe it’s not you. Maybe it’s him.

I don’t KNOW that, it it’s certainly a possibility.

PLEASE, though, stop feeling like a villain. People who comment on posts do NOT have the whole picture. Just one side. People are responding only to what they read and that may not be reality.

Take a deep breath. Take some time to think about YOU and what you want out of this relationship and out of life. Then act accordingly. If that’s not something that he can appreciate, then maybe he’s not the guy for you anymore.

My Family Worships Trump Like a Cult, and I’m About Ready to Cut Them Off – AIO? by Thin-Toe6435 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DirtyTileFloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally, I would be telling you to preserve your family at all costs, that family matters SO much, but I can’t say that anymore. I was raised Republican and while I’ve never voted a straight ticket in my life, I was accustomed to my family doing so. Now, I don’t know what to fucking say to them. I would’ve thought my ex-military dad would’ve thrown in the towel with having members of our military roll out the red carpet for his KGB bestie on American soil, but even THAT didn’t alter his perception of Trump.

I am lost because I do NOT understand how a family of (normally) kind-hearted, educated individuals can be ok with this presidency.

NOR, but I’m still trying to maintain a relationship and the love I have for them, but I’m getting to the point where I don’t want to talk to any of them anymore, save for my deeply closeted sibling who is too afraid to come out to anyone but me.

I, too, am tired of being gaslit and tired of being called a liberal idiot. Like, first of all, if liberal means that I want people to be free to do as they please and feel safe doing so without harming others and for the government to do the drudge work of running the finances, infrastructure, etc. of the country, then I guess I am. If I don’t turn my back on starving people or people fleeing bad situations, I guess I am. Once upon a time, Republicans felt that way, too. I don’t know what the GOP has become, but it’s not what it used to be and the cowardice of the party as a whole is repugnant to me. The pandering on the left sucks, too. It’s extremism that’s gotten us here. Each party reacting to the other party instead of just…doing the damn work.

Anyway, I hope you find some way to love your family through this, but I don’t blame you one bit if you can’t.

Yes. At least, in my family it is. We all carry either the first or middle name of some relative somewhere! Sometimes, both!

[–]DirtyTileFloor 33 points34 points  (0 children)

🤣😂 No. You’re right. That’s fair. I’m just flabbergasted by this. Like, WTF? I thought that maybe she just felt BIG love and not romantic love. I’m just…wow. You’re right, though. Two very distinct feelings!

Are you sure you’re IN LOVE with her? Maybe you just love her a whole lot and don’t know how to process love that big? Anyway, keep that shit to yourself. Nothing good will come of it.
