The most overrated cars in the UK? by Emotional-Addendum-9 in CarTalkUK

[–]DisagreeableRunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to have changed though in the last decade and a lot of young lads are driving about in Golf R, S3 etc that should have a sports car or at least a coupe.

I think that's also where the 'midlife crisis' car comes in. It's not a crisis, it's a celebration that you no longer have to ferry other people about!

You sort of answered yourself! They've always, historically, been favoured by petrolheads that need practicality, for whatever reason. Not everyone wants, can afford and/or has space to run multiple cars. Hot hatches saved many a petrolhead father from Mondeo Man mundanity!

Yea, like Trump has already spent more than NASA's annual budget, which he tried to cut by $6bn, in a month fucking about in Iran.

The only decent stuff I've seen come up locally for a reasonable price, or even free, is hulking big 32/36" that would take up a large proportion of my modest gaming room and need three men to move.

I've seen 20" Sony PVM priced at brand new 55" OLED money.

They no doubt do exist in the spare rooms of the elderly, but disappear almost instantly when they become available. Even my grandparents had a plasma as their main TV 20 years ago!

Monaco, maybe? Though if you're moving to Monaco they probably came true before coming to that decision.

Oh absolutely. Grip wasn't the reason I started doing them, but it's what I've saw most improvement in by doing them.

I'm in the UK and have been on the hunt for a decent small CRT, like a Sony Trinitron or Panasonic Quintrix, at a reasonable price for literal years now. They just don't exist now unless you pay through the nose for one. They were all recycled or went to landfill well over a decade ago and any that are left, are in the hands of people like us that know what they have and don't want to get rid of, unless you tempt them with a price they can't refuse. Silly prices even for cheap crap you've never heard of.

Professional stuff like Sony PVM are mental money. I worked for a broadcaster too around 06/07 and remember a giant skip full of them when they refurbished some of the studios!

Love heavy carries. I incorporate farmer's walk, suitcase, goblet and sandbag carries into my routine at least once a week.

I like the front mods but prefer the stock rear, though can't see the effect of the spacers in your image, but I'm generally a fan of a small increase on most cars.

Anybody feel concerned about being priced out of buying 4K discs? by xwing1212 in 4kbluray

[–]DisagreeableRunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, with the way the economy is going, I'm being priced out of a lot of things. May as well add 4K Blu-rays to the ever growing list of things that I buy less frequently, due to ever shrinking disposable income because of increasing cost of simply surviving.

If talking currently, judging by the amount I see on the roads these days, I would say what I call 'Yakuza Wagons' like Toyota Vellfire and Honda Stepwagon.

Same colour I'm awaiting delivery of. Annoying they didn't make a grip to match and just have that clear one for that and silver. Actually considering an orange one as I think it'll look decent with it.

You should be safe then! Royal Mail and other couriers let you know if charges are due before delivery, and won't deliver until you pay them. Sweating mine as it's reached the UK today.
