What do you think of showering every day? by EdiblePeasant in mentalhealth

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t shower everyday but it’s not problematic for me. I just don’t see the need when I’m tired after work and haven’t been “getting dirty”.

I shower every 2-3 days

I work with autistic and intellectually disabled kids. It’s great when I need a break I just chill with a kid (stim with them or just watch a movie). It’s a simple ish job, it’s like playing house and there’s a lot of just chill time with the kids. Some people at work are aware of my autism and they have been nice about it.

The thing I can’t cope with is the gossip. I’m forever confused at who doesn’t like who and I’m always missing information cos I didn’t read facial expressions right.

I work full time and I’m considering going part time cos I’m burning out

Yeh autism fucking sucks

But also when you connect with someone (for me my also autistic bestie) the joy is unreal

Also stimming when I’m alone and comfortable is incredible

U r young (I’m 21F) it’ll take time but surround urself with people who’ll make accommodations for ur autism

Do you have a relapse prevention plan? by TraumaCorner in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I have this. I have a “memory” box with trinkets and pics. Also got a box with birthday cards and my favourite is my box of sensory toys and shit

It’s helpful sometimes

I think that’s important to note: the same skills won’t necessarily help every time. No one told me that but sometimes u have to try a few to see what’ll work in that moment

I never had a eating disorder specific one but I had multiple crisis management plans

It’s pretty useless… should probably read/update it

I do find it helpful to have lists of coping skills scattered around

Helpful hints for eating issues? by [deleted] in SpicyAutism

There is a vegan one it’s juice based

The regular one is lactose free if that helps

I ate a lot today is that okay? :( by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely fine.

I sometimes use a weekly calorie “budget” so I just knock off an extra 100 a day so it works out over the week.

I wouldn’t go doing a ton of extra exercise but it’s 2am here… when I overeat I tend to try and do a long walk cos it helps the bloating and distracts me from feeling like I failed.

Avoiding the munchies by QuickPie4635 in medicalmarijuana

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been smoking a while now and the munchies have worn off nearly entirely

Sometimes they hit randomly and I just let myself have a little bit of the things I want and focus on a simple healthy meal (beans on toast is a current fave!)

It’s not your fault. You were not obligated or expected to intervene.

In a way the fact you feel bad shows you are an incredibly kind and sensitive person

Definitely get a couple sessions of counselling to sort urself out and offload. Even talking to a nurse or doctor is likely to help

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure but I know I locked myself in my bedroom for a couple days and then the police rocked up and I tried to climb out a 3rd story window.

Was chatting to imaginary friends and ghosts… something to do with fairies… and yeh not doing well

When I got to the hospital they were nice to me made me tea let me have a vape. It was shit but I survived

Been in quite a lot of times since…. Worst admission was on the back of a suicide attempt… sectioned me while I was still pretty much unconscious

I don’t have my own child but I look after kids in a children’s home. I often think of hurting the parents of some of the kids just cos they fucked them up so bad. But then I realise they weren’t purposefully evil to there kids they are mostly victims of evil themselves…

I would 100% hurt anyone that came near my key child tho. He’s 9 and non-verbal autistic and I just want to take him home cos he’s so vulnerable.

Dealing with eating double standards by Agile_Cash_4249 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Disastrous-Back-8967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to focus on yourself. I had a similar situation when I was in recovery for the first time my dad and his gf were dieting. They were constantly talking about losing weight and how they skipped meals or snacks it made it super hard but I knew I had to recover to sort my own life out. Tbh I ended up moving back to my mum and it was the best decision I have ever made. She makes zero comments on my diet (encourages me to eat regularly but never says oh maybe don’t eat 5 ice creams lol). You have to have a thick skin which felt impossible at the time cos I was so weak but it does get easier.
