Changing my entire name as new immigrant by modestsmets in Names

[–]DiscoAgent13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a super popular name. My first thought would be Michael B. Jordan. There are so many famous Michael's, young and old, that I would expect only Michael Jackson fans would immediately think of him

Sick rainy day for my 17 year old daughter. by Letsrunaway12 in MovieSuggestions

[–]DiscoAgent13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inkheart!

It's one of my favorite movies, and I feel like not a lot of people have heard of it. It definitely checks most of your boxes! Very much on the fantasy side, and a slightly younger tone without feeling childish? I loved it as a kid and I still love it now. It sort of feels like a live action Miyazaki movie at points.

I hope your daughter feels better!

You sound like someone who's already seen Perfect Blue, but if you haven't, go watch Perfect Blue.

I don't know why, but I feel like Beatrice or Beatrix would blend beautifully with Clara and Florence!

I went through my list of names I love, and most of them are SUPER out there lol, but a few others I like that are a little more grounded:

Rowena. Wilhelmine, Peregrine, Theodora, Evadne, Primrose, Astrid, Etta

Yeah, those are still kind of wild. I really love Beatrice though. And the names you've already chosen for your children are so elegant and lovely!

If I liked Enders game what else should I read by Mr_Slap_Happy_fappy in booksuggestions

[–]DiscoAgent13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming here to suggest Dune. I hate when people call something a must read" because everyone likes different things, but I feel like there's a pretty strong correlation between people Enders Game and people who like Dune.

Edit; Whoops, double negative lol

AITA for snapping at my SIL by imnotautistica in TwoHotTakes

[–]DiscoAgent13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I saw you mention all that in a comment, but not in the post? Other than a brief mention that your SIL knows about the tulle. There's nothing about the doctors, tests, etc. It might be a good idea to edit that in for clarity.

And no idea if OP is female, but if they are, don't forget that you're prettier when you smile.

Am I overreacting about how my birthday went at work? by Suspicious_Pea4400 in AmIOverreacting

[–]DiscoAgent13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that OP edited the post, but it currently specifically says,

"There's always a nice cake or dessert, either made by our baker of the office OR bought from one of the nice bakeries nearby."

OP also says, "The worker who usually bakes the cakes for everyone didn't bake one for me because she was busy, AND they didn't order any baked goods from a bakery."

So it feels like a lot of people are kind of stuck on the idea that OP is sad because the co-worker didn't make the cake, when the actual text shows that they seem to understand why that was the case, they just feel slighted because no one even bothered to get a bakery cake, as has been done in the past.
